1) This review is long overdue.
2) Forgive spelling and punctuation... this isn't a novel
I work in the auto industry (shipping) and know just how shift car dealers can be. I am taking the time to write this review because of the overwhelmingly positive experience I had with Simi Valley Ford all the way from my initial contact up until today. I want to point out that purchased the truck about two months ago, and I actually received a text from the Tom Lynch(sales guy) today to make sure I was still enjoying my purchase. Folks, this type of customer care is literally second to none.
Now, let me walk you through the events that resulted in the excellent customer experience I had: I emailed the dealership after hours on a Friday.. they called me within five minutes (impressive). I told them we needed FULL DISCLOSURE of the vehicle and a FIRM price before I came into the dealership because I would be flying from San Francisco into LAX, then traveling an hour to get to the dealership. Within one hour of my initial contact Tom had all the pertinent info in my hands and we had settled on a very fair price and had been put in writing.
The following morning I took a one-way flight into LAX and the dealership actually picked me up at the airport. Once at the dealership, the truck was already detailed, so I simply had to complete the paperwork. The price was exactly what we had agreed to, and I opted to purchase the additional warranty on the truck.
Here is where things got crazy: on the drive from Simi Valley to San Fran, the check engine light on the truck came on. In the defense of Simi Valley Ford, the truck had 55,000 miles on it, and it turned out that the light indicated the computer simply needed to be updated... needless to say, nothing was wrong... the computer just needed an update. They could not have completed this update in LA because it was prompted by mileage.
So, I get the truck up here and take it to the dealership, who then charges me a $100 deductible to service the computer. I called the manager of Simi (Steve Feild) assuming that I would need to force them to cut me a $100 check. To my surprise, the manager actually offered to mail me a check before I even brought up my idea.
The icing on the cake was when I called back just over one month later to cancel the extra warranty I had purchased (I decided to put a tuner on my truck, so warranty no longer applies). Steve Feild (manager) personally made sure my warranty had been canceled and the check was mailed out in a prompt fashion.
I truly cant say enough good things about this place. Let me put it like this: When/if I buy another ford, I will likely be going six hours south to Simi Valley Ford. As I mentioned, I am a car guy. I buy vehicles a couple times per year. These guys are good. ask for TOM LYNCH... he is a very nice older guy that honestly loves helping people! read more
