I love going to Sima's Salon in Canton! My hair stylist, Meagan Is wonderful and extremely talented! She is so helpful and pleasant and always on the cutting edge of style with new ideas for what to do with my hair. She is creative and innovative and usually always has a game plan In mind, but still takes the time to listen to my thoughts as well. Then she does her best to make it all happen in the best way possible. Hands down, she's just a great hairdresser! I'm always happy when I leave. She not only knows how to style, but she's also an expert on color too! Lenann, the Esthetician has also given me several of the most amazing facials at Sima's. She is fantastic and the products she uses are incredible! Her facials never fail to leave my skin feeling super clean, very soft and literally just glowing every-time. And, Lenann really knows how to make you feel pampered and relaxed. She's awesome! Also, the owner, (Sima) and the rest of the staff at the Salon are always super friendly, very welcoming, extremely accommodating and very pleasant. They really do care about making everyone's visit as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. It's a great environment to spend a couple of hours in. I loved my hair color, but I'm warning others to keep their credit cards close! After using it to pay for services, my card was zapped and the thief purchased food and airline tickets. This was the only place my card was out of my hands. Get trustworthy staff :( read more

In desperate need of a haircut, I called Sima's on a whim. I had been once before for a facial, which was great, but never a hair appointment. I was continuing to drive to VA for my hair cut/color. Michele was able to see me the same day I called. Lucky for me! I was growing out a pixie and she took the time to look at pics and listen to where I was trying to get with my style. My. Girl. Becca. AKA my hair-y godmother (she isn't hairy, don't worry). One of my best friends referred me to her after a string of bad haircuts, bad layers, harsh winters, you guys know the deal. Ever since then I haven't considered going anywhere else. From the beginning, she gives you a great cut and she is great at the hair chair small talk. She listens to what you want but offers (good) opinions if you ask for them. She'll also tell you when you need to stop doing a style, but only if you really need to hear it. This weekend we shook it up a little and worked in some balayage, which she does incredibly. (I tried it because the aforementioned friend has had tem for years and they've always looked SO GOOD.) Everyone my friend has recommended go to Becca... still goes to Becca. Everyone I've recommended Becca to... still goes to Becca (including my husband, and he has rarely held hair loyalty to any stylist). Best hair experience I've had, no question, since moving here five and a half years ago. That's a lot of hair appts to go up against. In order of events: First- FREE PARKING. In Baltimore. No problem finding a spot at 3p. Second- lovely front desk crew. Greeted me by name (I was the only person with an appt at that time, but still!) Third- Becca was lovely- funny and charming and told me to tell my friend that she had a referral discount coming to her. Understood exactly what I wanted and was (seemed) excited to work with me. Fourth- Idk how, but the curls I left the salon with are beautifully intact two days later. I started going to Sima's back in the early 2000s when I lived in Canton. After spending a few years in Baltimore I moved back to Virginia. I have tried to find another stylist that gets it EVEN CLOSE to the perfection (at least as far as my frizzie hair is concerned) that Sima gives me (I think it is because she has hair that my hair dreams of being on a good day!). So, now I trek, an hour each way (if there's not traffic on the Beltway or the BW Pkwy, right) in order to go to a place where I feel welcome and know I'll always walk out with the best my hair can be!!! We picked this place off the Yelp reviews and the fact that it was walking distance from our Airbnb and were very impressed with the service and haircut that my aunt received. Went here for a haircut with Lynn. They were able to fit me in last minute which was nice. I was looking for just a trim and to lighten the load on my head with some more layers (I have a LOT of hair), and I felt like the experience was just okay. After explaining what I wanted, she said I already had layers so she would just trim what I already had. I hear great things about other stylists, so I may go back and try someone else to see if they can work with my thick, straight hair to not feel like 100 pounds weighing me down. I have also been here with Lenann for a Brazilian wax and facial. She is super friendly and makes you feel comfortable. They use a hard wax for the Brazilian so there is minimal pain. The facial uses Eminence products which I am not familiar with, but all of the products smelled really nice. The whole experience was relaxing, starting with some aromatherapy, soothing music, and calm atmosphere. She gives an amazing neck and shoulder massage as well with it. Lenann gave me some samples of a cleanser and moisturizer to try out which I haven't had a chance to try yet. Highly recommend! read more

We called in on Thursday to set an appointment for my son's haircut . We were offered an appointment at 2pm on Xmas Eve and was told that was the only appointment available and that someone would surely be available if we took that time slot . Here at 11 o'clock we received a call that no one will beable to cut his hair . Usually not a big deal how ever it is Xmas Eve and not a chance of scheduling him another appointment today AnyWhere . To have a business schedule an appointment on a holiday is one thing . After setting time in your schedule aside to make the appointment . Then having them selfishly cancel it a couple hours before is another . Only to have the receptionist try to talk me into bringing my 11 year old son in for a manicure rather then a haircut . Going to Meagan has been the best decision I've ever made for my hair! I first visited her after a very bad hair cutting experience at another salon about 4 years ago. A friend of mine always had the best haircuts, so I asked where she got her hair done, and she got me in touch with Meagan at Sima's. I even continued to see her when I was living in Philly, and now that I'm in Boston have been trying to find a way to get down there again. AWESOME BROW SHAPING AND TINT!!! I was so nervous to get my brows tinted but it is amazing!! I have always plucked and filled in my brows by myself. I didn't know what I was missing until I saw the amazing results from a quick service from Tara. Tara works on the 3rd floor of Sima's and is an expert! I couldn't be happier with the results and overall experience!! I no longer need to spend time tediously trying to fill-in, shape, pluck, and make my brows even because after the tint and shaping they are perfect and I get to wake up with ready to go brows!!! I had my regular hair cut there on Friday -which is always great- along with a scheduled facial and pedicure. I cannot say enough about the woman who did my facial and I've had many over the years. She was wonderful. Great hands. There was a minimum of chatter - she just talked about what she was doing next. And there was absolutely NO attempt to sell product. I first came here a couple years ago after a stylist from a different salon had bleached my hair (I asked to lighten it "a LITTLE bit") to the point that my hair was limp, thin and had actually gone from below the shoulders to a bob due to the chemical damage. I just realized today (August 13, 2017) that I still had a negative review in place for Sima's Salon from all the way back in February 2014. I did leave the same negative review back then on multiple forums and I subsequently removed/updated them, I thought everywhere, but apparently I missed to update it on Yelp. If you still find the old negative review somewhere, please ignore... After a rocky start (hence the negative review) in which the shop was closed on a day after some minor winter storm and we weren't informed (making a wasted visit) - something that was the fault of the front desk staff - Lenann truly came through, apologized, and convinced us to give them another chance, which we did. Both my wife and I then became a regular customer and a friend. We had about 6 weekly services (both of us each) and that lasted for more than 3 years. We recently moved from Baltimore and that's what ended the relationship, but we otherwise would have remained lifelong customers. read more

I was nervous to get my first personal spray tan and couldn't be happier with the results! I had always done booth spray tan and it always left me feeling a little orange. Not this time! Sam was amazing and made me feel extremely comfortable. My tan was perfection and since I was standing in a wedding that was extremely important! Megan at Sima's cuts my hair and is amazing!! However, I went to Leah for a trial to style my hair for my wedding day and I couldn't be more disappointed about the service or attitude. I brought multiple example photos for the first trial and Leah was not able to match the example photos. My hair styled was a "princess style" with a huge bumped tease on the top of my head. Because I'm loyal to the salon, I let Leah talk me into coming in for another trial a month later with more photos. A month later, I come in again, and she styles my hair very similarly to the first time around. After I express my disappointment, she proceeds to tell me that it's too much pressure for her to style my hair on my wedding day and that it's not going to work out. S In my experience, Leah is only able to deliver one style even though when you show her a picture and ask if she can do that style, she says yes. If you want your hair cut, go to Sima's - if you want your hair styled for your wedding day, go else where. It's NOT worth it!! read more

I now live over an hour away from Sima's, but it is worth the drive. Sima is that good! She's patient, experienced, talented, friendly, funny, caring, understanding, flexible... Getting my hair cut feels like a lunch date with a friend--only I leave looking better than I did when I arrived! I have been searching for a hair stylist for years since I've moved to MD. What I've found: Great stylists with NO customer service skills! Well I finally found a stylist that I love at Sima's! But there's one big problem: this salon has a lack of care for it's client's. I almost think going to About Faces would have been better...don't get me started on that place. Every time I call Sima's I feel like I'm bothering the receptionist. She is very short with me and not accommodating at all. I have been in the customer service field for 12 years and I think that Sima's only stays in business because of their location and the clientele that goes there has become accustomed to this lack of customer service that accompanies this industry in this area. I'll miss my stylist because she was hard to find, but I will be searching for another place to go! I'm taking recommendations if anyone has any!!! read more
