We received a very nice print for a holiday gift this past winter and we needed to get it framed…read morelocally. The place we had used on and off for decades was no longer in business in Boulder. It had been very convenient for us and did a good job, but its new location out of Boulder was not doable for us this year. Trusting Yelp, I looked at what was still here. I found very positive reviews of this shop and seemed like the right style of place, locally owned and been in business for many years and in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Just a bit farther north in Boulder than I usually frequent. We had an idea of what we wanted in style and color so we took the print out there in early April. They had a sign on the door saying that turnaround time was 8 weeks, which this year is to be expected. I heard that a few other places were taking longer. We asked about frame and mat options and the owner said she thought that would work well and showed us a few examples. We picked what we liked best, she showed us how she would arrange things, sizing of borders, etc. She gave us a calculated price which was nicely in our budget. We ordered it and figured it would be ready in early June. It was and just a few days past the expected date info I got last week. We are very pleased with the finished product and will certainly use this shop the next time we need some framing. She also had a nice collection of framed art for sale if you are looking for some new decor, ready to go.

Took the bugger down to one of the local shops for framing suggestions and we went with our second choice as a call on the tele confirmed choice numero uno was now a relic having been confined to the pages of yester-years selection choices as previously charted 'n such; necessitating not festering, but obliged to relegate it used and so she tossed the sample into the trashcan next to what looked like an old tuna sandwich with a tomato that was sagging off the styrofoam container kind of like a tortured and unhappy old Chinese farmer whom was in the midst of uttering "uggh" ... but I digress, as the second choice frame turned out great and with the map in place the combo could have sure-fire come from the US-Embassy in Shanghai, China-circa 1920-something just straight as I had hoped. Seemed I just caught her in a bad mood. From the looks of other reviews this service from the manager seems to be a common occurrence. That being said I was able to call Michaels corporate number, and I was offered a refund within five minutes of explaining my situation. All to say, this unfortunately put a bad taste in our mouth for this situation. I highly encourage the owners of this branch to look into their customer service problem.

After looking at aisle after aisle on my own, none of it being real wood and little being glass, I found a pleasant staff member who also looked . We only found plastic, in the size range required. Yes a low price but inadequate for the destination so we left and went back to the higher end store right away as they only had 2 left in stock. Quality is definitely related to price in this case and we did the right thing. The store was fairly empty of customers as well as staff as usual. There were areas that used to be heavily stocked but seemed low now. Maybe import troubles starting to be apparent already.

They had more interesting materials and incredibly good customer service. I have had the original watercolor in my living room for decades and I still liked it, but it looked SO dated.
