Great food but they close early every day. 3 times in one week alone I went to silver lake at 830pm and it was a problem. I was told 2 of those 3 times that it's too late to place an order. 1 of the 3 times they allowed me to place my order but said it would be to go and didn't allow me to eat at their tables. Why is this my favorite new local restaurant? I'm all about the noodles. See, up here on the outskirts of Oxnard, we're like fifty or sixty-something miles north of Silver Lake or Sawtelle or anywhere you're likely to find a hot ramen shop. And this place is hot. Blazing hot. Super popular spot. Bravo to the owners of this location for recognizing the need for this kind of restaurant in Oxnard. One drawback is that there's limited seating because of its Annex food court location. Come early, or expect a wait. When the tables are full and a lot of people are waiting, they will tell you at the register you might be better off taking your order to go. And even if you do come early, you should be aware they do a tremendous volume of take out orders, which seems to kind of slow down the in-house service. But like I said, they've got some really good noodles up in here, so....worth it! Now if you're going to want to start with an appetizer, I highly recommend the Gyoza. Served hella hot, they're crispy and delicious, with a fantastic dipping sauce. They come six to an order, and that's a wonderful thing. I mean, it's a wonderful thing that there's an even number. Because I would totally battle my wife for that last odd one. Silverlake Ramen's Gyoza plating positively promoting domestic tranquility! OK, so, one of my very favorite local restaurants, and only four stars? It's complicated. But what it comes down to is the broth. So far I've tried the Tsukemen, The Blaze, and The Shoyu. The Tsukemen broth was good, but lacked the depth one craves in a good bone broth. Both times I tried Tsukemen here I was underwhelmed by the broth, but I nevertheless finished it off. However, with both the Blaze or The Shoyu, I just didn't care enough about the broth to finish it off after the noodles and other goodies were gone. I liked The Blaze a lot, but not as much as The Shoyu. I've had The Shoyu twice now and I love it. Until there is only broth left, anyway. The thing is, the broth works just fine in conjunction with the other ingredients. But when the other ingredients are gone, I'm done. I'm not going to savor every drop of that broth like I would at Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle down in Sawtelle. But Silverlake Ramen kicks Tsujita's ass when it comes to the slice of pork they use to top their ramen. The slices here at Silverlake are at least two or three times as thick and meaty, and about two or three times tastier, too! All the other ramen ingredients are high quality. Particularly the veggies. Especially love the teeny tiny crunch of fresh bean sprouts. The reason this is my favorite Annex restaurtant is because Silverlake Ramen's noodles are excellent. Today I asked for a simple substitution of one ingredient-- sautéed kale instead of mixed greens in my veggie ramen. Did I get kale? No. My dish was also missing five other ingredients. Because it was carry-out, I didn't notice until I got home. Unfortunately, I've had the same lackluster food experience at other locations across SoCal. The dumplings/gyozas are deep fried which I would prefer them pan fried or steam but they were just as good. I'm not a fan of their dipping sauce, it seems to be like a spicy Mayo which I'm not a fan of for no dumplings. The dumplings are super duper good and that's all you need to know. I had the pork bao buns which were pretty good, not short with the pork amount as many places do skimp on it. Now the main event for me is the chicken karrage bowl. I love ramen! I've eaten a lot of it and I'm pretty picky! I already knew that Silverlake Ramen had a reputation and it was on my list! Discovered that they opened a location in Oxnard at The Collection and stopped by to try! For a fast food location in a food court, it was very good. The line was insane. Ordering was easy and it took a little bit longer to get the food, but the broth was hot, the pork belly was lean and not fatty and the noodles cooked right! Also got the chicken karrage rice bowl and that was fantastic! You can get a mini for $8 and full serving for $12 and that is brilliant! There are no sushi rolls at this location, but most of their regular menu. There are only a few tables and it is first come, but there is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating all around. I can't believe that after all these years and about a hundred times eating here that I haven't written a yelp review on this place but here we go. I love Ramen. Ramen might be my favorite meal. There is nothing better than a comforting bowl of noodles on a cold night. Or a hot night. Or any night. Silverlake Ramen is my favorite spot in Ventura County, easily. I have tried every ramen spot in VC. I used to drive to LA and wait for hours to go to the OG SIlverlake Ramen. The broth is so flavorful and good. It doesn't matter which broth you choose. I'm a fan of the spicy tonkotsu. The Blaze w/Pork is my go to order. I have ordered this so many times over the years and it is so consistent. The Pork Rice Bowl is also incredible - it's my favorite Rice Bowl around. They give you your moneys worth. You won't feel like underwhelmed. The Pork Bun is always great. The taste of the bun reminds me of my grandma (that's the biggest compliment that I can give) and it's always fresh. The Chicken Karage is always good - my son's favorite. My daughter loves the Shoyu Ramen and the light clear chicken broth with Tofu. Always great flavor. The downside: YES, YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME. If you are okay with ordering ahead then do so. If you're there in-person, you'll likely have to wait in a long line and you'll have to wait a long time after you order to get your food. The menu is actually a decent size for a food court type layout. The clear hit here is the ramen but I have witnessed some yummy appetizer and rice bowls float by - so for your non ramen friend, looks like they are covered. Price is standard: around $15-17 a ramen. Now for my favorite ramen : the classic ramen. The flavor and creaminess cannot be beat. It also says a lot about how good their classic is as I always need a super spicy ramen to be satisfied at other spots. However, the classic ramen has won over my heart here. The creamy broth with sesame oil is killer. Also their pork belly is A+. I am pretty picky with my pork belly but theirs is super flavorful and they don't skimp on the portion. Their eggs are also always cooked to perfect and their chili oil/paste is a nice bonus. My only ONLY critique is that I like my ramen noodles a little on the softer side. Their noodles are a little undercooked in my opinion but it seems to be their style as it is consistently this way....oh well - it's still amazing. Crap policy, you need to be on a wait list to even get a seat, and can't order your food until you have a table. That wait was 15-20 minutes long with a bunch of open tables? I opted to get it to go. I asked if I ordered to go and put my name on the list, if I we can dine in when a table opened. "NO. That's not how our system works." I paid. There were two gentlemen behind me. BAM. My dad is severely handicapped and we sat down once we arrived. My mom got in line to order and was told that we could not sit down until we had ordered. My brother asked to speak with the manager and the woman at the counter said there was no manager on duty and she was the de facto manager and she said that they had a handicapped person at the restaurant yesterday and she "dealt with it." She told us to write a Yelp review if we were disappointed. We were horrified at the disregard for elderly people and disabled people. Main take away: Like other reviewers have mentioned, they really need work on their service/management. I got a blaze ramen here and it was delicious. The broth was rich and creamy and the spiciness helped cut through some of the oiliness. You can choose how spicy you'd like it, mild, medium, or spicy. Got it to-go and ate outside, and the broth wasn't hot, just warm. Fine with me though as I wouldn't want scalding hot liquid in a plastic tub. But the service was slow. The girl working the register seemed burned out. Like another reviewer mentioned, she picked up phone orders between customers placing orders in person. It wasn't too busy at 3pm on Sunday but it took a long time for me and my friend's order to come out. Probably due to all the online/phone orders. What was weird was their seating policy. When asking to dine in, they give you a table # and you cannot change it. I asked to sit at the end (open, no one sitting there) but was shot down by the cashier. Unnecessarily stubborn for a food court restaurant. Some other patrons later sat at our table (since we decided to change it to take-out) and the cashier found issue with that. I understand it's the management's policy but it was odd. What's so hard about letting people sit at open tables? They had place card holders so it shouldn't be an issue, yet it was. The employees were doing what they can, busy and worn down by the holiday rush. But I was unimpressed with management. Really happy that there's a good ramen place in Oxnard now. This shop is located in The Annex food hall right by the entrance. I love how this location doesn't have a long wait like the original location. They have tonkotsu pork broth, chicken broth and veggie broth ramens. I ordered the Blaze which has a spicy creamy pork broth with pork. The broth was rich and creamy. I ordered level 2 (medium hot - FYI 3 levels) and it was the right amount of spiciness. The noodles were al dente with the right amount of chew. And the pork belly was crispy on the pan fried edges and flavorful. The soft boiled egg was also delicious. Service was good and there was plenty of seating at the restaurant or in the food hall area. I'll definitely be back and come here especially when I'm craving ramen during the colder days. read more

I don't want to change my 5 star rating, because I come here often and I do very much enjoy the food and have never had any issues with the staff or the food in general. With that said, I am absolutely disappointed with the customer service I received here as of recent. I have been coming here ever since they opened and have always stayed loyal to the business. I experienced something that was definitely out of the ordinary and uncommon. I ordered my food via google/postmates and went there to pick up my food as directed. Once I got there, they said that they never saw my order come through. Mind you, I had already paid via Google so I had the charge on my card. They proceeded not to make my food until after about an additional 10-15 minutes -- then they finally confirmed that my order did go through and that they just missed it and so I had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for my food. Overall I pretty much waited 1 hr. 30 minutes (including the time since I ordered online). There were no sorries, no attempt of customer service to ease the inconvenience that was experienced. I totally get that they have a ton of customers but damn, if you can't handle the influx of online and in-restaurant orders then give up one. Don't compromise the quality of your service and food for more profit, especially at the expense of loyal customers. Looking at the recent reviews, it seems like many have been experiencing negative issues with this location and it makes me sad. I don't want to give a 1 star because my intentions are not to hurt the business but to implore you to please do better and be more considerate to your patrons. The food was good but it took forever to get it. We ordered some regular noodle dishes so I have no idea why it took so long. It is located in the Annex food court at the Oxnard collection. The seating situation is very confusing. We were not assured we would be able to get a table and they suggested we order take-out instead. After waiting a long time and seeing tables open up, I tried to get on the waitlist for a table but was told it was too late to switch to dine-in. It was a Friday evening so maybe the situation is different at other times. I won't be back to find out. read more
