After posting my reviews, I received a phone call from one of the trainers apologizing for not…read moreresponding to my inquiry. She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Calypso Kennels!…read more Fester had never stayed at a kennel before -- he has always stayed with family or friends because he is very particular about who he is comfortable coming into contact with and has quite a bit of anxiety. We were SO relieved when we found Calypso and learned that they offer no-contact boarding. Knowing there was an option that would keep both Fester and the staff safe while still making sure he was well cared for gave us so much peace of mind, especially since we were going to be out of the country for an extended trip. We were told that by about day four, Fester had warmed up and settled into his routine, and that he was on his best behavior throughout his stay! When we picked him up, he was happy, healthy, and clearly had been very well taken care of. We also want to give a huge thank you to every member of the staff who helped care for him. Fester is getting older and requires quite a bit of medication on a daily basis, so we know his care was not exactly simple. Knowing that everyone took the time to follow his routine, give him his medications, respect his boundaries, and keep our guy comfortable while we were thousands of miles away means more to us than we can say. Before this trip, the thought of boarding Fester was honestly something we worried about. Now, having a place we know can safely and successfully care for him gives us such a sense of relief for future trips. Thank you to everyone at Calypso Kennels for taking such good care of our guy. We are incredibly grateful!

I am writing to share how pleased I am with the two lessons I have had with my pit bull mix puppy…read more I was a bit reluctant because of the cost, but Marley is very much still a youngster and super high energy, so in view of so many high ratings I decided to bite the bullet and enroll. We hopefully will have her for many years, and will all be happier if she (and us!) are well-trained. Marley is very smart and I was sure that with the right help she would learn fast. The first lesson was with Ryan...he was knowledgeable, patient with both canine and human, articulate and calm. He even was able to make the experience fun for Marley. Jake was with us the second time, and he was just as terrific as Ryan. There is a lot of information given, but with the way they taught, I have been able to retain most of it and work successfully with Marley between classes. I intend to complete 4 sessions and sign up for 4 more. I'm so appreciative, and look forward to effective training for all of us. I highly recommend Off Leash!! Pam Talley & Marley
