Emma B. that worked there is amazing! The place could use some donations of crates so the dogs aren't boxed in by other crates. And the new owner has really changed the place, but not in a good way. They are losing all of their good staff due to poor management styles and unprofessionalism. Rooms are obviously overpacked and i wouldn't say it's the best conditions for dogs to be in. He agreed to reimburse our vet expenses and the cost of day care for the day our dog was attacked. We greatly appreciate how Shaun has handled the matter. i used to work at this specific location for about 3 months and it was HORRIBLE. they were so understaffed and now i know why. the general manager jen doesn't care about anyones availability. she over scheduls literally everyone, even on days that they're not able to work. she treats literally all of her employees differently, and she's SOOOO passive aggressive and 2 faced. she acts like she's nice to you in the beginning, but just wait 2 weeks and she'll be so rude to you. jen's only nice when someone higher up is watching, otherwise its passive aggressive power trips and pretending like she doesnt smell like dog piss and desperation. she'll smile in your face but then schedules you 9 days straight with little to no breaks like it's community service. and don't get me started on how they treat the dogs. there are SO many rusty crates in those playrooms that it's insane, yet i was still forced to put dogs in there since they're so overbooked and cant afford to buy newer crates. i literally saw dogs LICKING the bright orange rust off the crates which also made their tongues bright yellow too which is SO dangerous and it's such a safety hazard. and theres barely any crates too. we had to literally push one crate forward and squeeze a dog into the open space behind it, basically overlapping the crates which blocked airflow and made it harder to reach certain dogs if something went wrong. it felt like cramming dogs into storage rather than prioritizing their safety and comfort. there was also a time where we had to take the dogs outside for about an hour when it was 80+ degrees. 30 minutes into that, there was a dog that was pooping out literal BLOOD. no poop, just BLOOD coming out of his behind. i expressed my concerns to jen, and all she said was to give him a 5 minute break in the crate that was OUTSIDE. i didnt listen to her though and put the dog back inside in the playrooms and i literally got in trouble for this. she only cares about her own dogs.. her dogs mount almost every dog in the playroom. if you're a doggy daycare manager, you need to give your personal dogs home training because this is insane. anyways, never bring your dogs here and NEVER work here read more

can't tell you how wonderful this day has been. To make an extremely long story shorter, I have struggled for years to find a place for the girls to play with other dogs where blind Nikki is not afraid and defensive. I've had neglectful, borderline abusive, questionable, and indifferent providers who've left me disheartened and upset. Today I found what I've hoped for. Dogtopia of Fredericksburg took the time, had the patience and kindness, and the professionalism I've looked for for ages. Nikki did well, was not afraid, and clearly had a wonderful day. Nina had a blast networking with the other dogs whose company she craves. It's making me tear up (for the 4th time today) seeing them get the play I'm a bit too old and tired to give them. It's a shame I had to go 17 miles away to find it, but it's a godsend. Afterwards we went to Freddy's and they gave them both pup cups! #bestdayever for us all!! read more

On 3 March their facility was aware of gastritis being passed to the dogs they care for. They did not notify us during our initial visit (meet and greet) on 8 March. We have a 4 month old Lab. We sent our dog there 3 other times that week, by the weekend she was very sick. $500 in vet bills and meds and our puppy is just now back to normal. It has been a week. Had they properly informed us we could have delayed our meet and greet. There were some other failures to communicate as well but this was the most egregious. It is very unfortunate as my dog enjoyed their facility. They talk a good game but from our perspective and experience it was just talk. We have found and are using another service. read more

You large dog owners. Unless your dog is completely obedient and well trained and does not mind going easily into a crate than this place is for you. Otherwise, they do not want to bother with you. Very little effort was made to accommodate our dog. Better trained staff is sorely needed. Go else ware. Poor Experience! read more

My dog was brutally attacked here by another dog and broke several ribs, was paralyzed below the waist and couldn't breathe without an oxygen tank so we had to put her down. They returned our money and claimed to change their policy for putting big and small dogs together, but it really should be common sense not to put a Rottweiler in the same room as a 5 lb Yorkie. We miss her terribly every day. read more

It's a very nice facility, friendly staff, and I feel comfortable leaving my dog here. However, the only two times he's gone here he got terrible kennel cough that resulted big vet bills. He's never contracted Bordetella from any other daycare center. read more

My rescue pup loves playing with dog friends but is very anxious around humans outside of our family. She is lovingly nicknamed velcro because she sticks to me like glue. I tried Dogtopia with low expectations and assuming we would not be able to make it work, but after only about 15 minutes with the dog handlers and her new pup friends she let her guard down and opened up! I was so proud to watch her on the camera while she cruised around the yard and I couldn't believe it when I saw her let the handler pet her! It brought tears to my eyes. When they brought her out to me to go home, she ran up to a man waiting in the lobby and jumped up on him for pets. He was using two hands to pet all over her face and he even looked her in the eye, which usually gets her hackles up and she barks like crazy to defend herself. The dopamine from playtime and the socialization are working! I'm so happy we are members of the Dogtopia family now! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. My husband and I lived in the Fredericksburg area and our dog loved going to Dogtopia every week. No matter who was working, they always know us by name and were excited to have our dog stay with them. They consistently send home "report cards" and photos of your dog, which really shows that they pay attention and care about your animal. We recently moved closer to the DC area and have not been impressed with the two locations near us. While we still take our dog to a closer location for day care days once or twice a week, we make the trek back to Fredericksburg for our dog to stay at this specific location when we are boarding him. read more

My dog was the new dog at your Fredericksburg location. And on the video I saw 2 dogs had a special interest in my dog, so much that they followed him around the room often. I was surprised to see my dog look bothered and often reverse his direction trying to get away from them. He usually enjoys dogs chasing him. But this time he looked bothered. Since I couldn't hear any sound on the video I looked at the attendant for clues and she would often be looking at her cellphone. On the 2nd day on video I did notice she was looking directly at my dog and the 2 dogs were on top of my dog, that was now on his back. She appeared to be deliberately ignoring the whole interaction with the other 2 dogs. Looked like they were biting on my dog almost obsessively. I called and asked for my dog to be inspected. They agreed but when I picked him up he had red marks on his chest. I was told those marks are common with the dogs playing with each other. But we later found deeper marks, that didn't appear to be scratches that were all over his body. That after a couple of days they scabbed up and fell off. Not good. I reported it and was told that the 2 dogs probably liked him of course but we didn't feel safe leaving him there with an attendant responsible for so many dogs, often not paying attention and NOT removing the 2 dogs off our dog. With him being so new I thought they would make sure he was able to interact with other dogs in a safer manner. Everyone was very welcoming despite even with our complaints but they really need to incorporate healthy play styles for the dogs to avoid injuries. But we were told they don't play with the dogs and part of why they don't interfere with the dogs playing would allow my dog to learn how to correct the other dogs. Fair enough. But not at the expense of my dog's safety. We are not comfortable with that and just choose to take him out for good. Other locations advertise that they have trained dog trainers. And maybe that would help here. read more

My dogs can't get enough! And neither can me or my husband! They absolutely love this place! The three separate playrooms allow my dogs a safe playroom that fits their size and play style. My small pup is in the toybox with other little pups and he never has a dull day. There are always tons of friends for him to play with!! The outdoor play yard is a plus! It gives my pups some outside play in a safe-spacious environment! The staff are amazing and the send home reports about your dog's day...how cute! And the webcams..live feed so you can watch them play while you are at work or away on vacation. It is always clean and the staff are very open and honest about everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, safe place to take their dogs! read more

Overall, I'm happy with this doggie daycare. I do suggest, however, that the manager speak to the the people at the front desk. Please remind them that they need to look up from their computers (even if they are on the phone) and acknowledge the customers when they walk in. Even to say "Hi!, we'll be right with you." And smile!! Several times, when dropping off my dog, they do not look up, they just pick up their walkie talkie and tell them my dog is there. No looking up, saying hi, or smiling. We were very excited to have a place for our puppy to expend some energy during the work day. Our Meet and Greet went very well and she had a great time playing with the other dogs. The spa services seemed like a great benefit too! We scheduled a bath, but found out it would be given during "nap" time and then she would be back playing. I cancelled it during a drop off and my husband confirmed during pickup. However, Nani was apparently bathed and we were charged. A phone call to Dogtopia didn't resolve anything. The front desk attendant didn't know anything about the cancellation and said we would receive a call back. No call ever came. Then our puppy started throwing up and had no appetite. 2 vet visits and a couple of medications later she was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal virus. The afternoon of the diagnosis we received an email from Dogtopia "following up on the gastrointestinal virus in our community" and a notifying pet parents of an outbreak of kennel cough. Needless to say we won't be taking our dog back for any services. I would advise asking lots of questions before you choose Dogtopia. read more

I brought my dog to dogtopia a couple of times. It was fine, just wasn't what I was expecting. I have a very hyper dog who played in the Toybox room when he was there. I took him to dogtopia hoping he would get some of his pent up energy out, but he never came home even a little bit tired. I loved the cameras in the room. I spent a lot of time watching and noticed that the staff members were not very interactive with the dogs. The dogs (especially mine) actually seemed bored! I never felt that my dog was unsafe at dogtopia, so I will definitely bring him back if I ever need a sitter, but I do not plan to bring him on a regular basis like I thought I would. read more

We were new to the area and was looking for a friendly place to board our dog Max on short notice. I had no issues and felt very comfortable with the staff. They took great care of Max and having the ability to view him on the web cam was an added bonus. The customer service was great!!!. Prior to visiting dogtopia I was an loyal cusmtomer to PetSmart and their doggy day camp and PetHotel services, however the service at dogtopia and the price of the service is unmatched. We are a military family that has traveled all over the world and by far this was our best experience. read more

This is a new facility. Friendly staff answered all of my questions and was happy to give me a tour. Groomers are on site but you can use their self service area for $15. They have doggy cams so you can watch your dog from where ever you are. I will definitely be using their services in the future for my dogs. read more

Our 3 dogs have been numerous times- they love it- they get excited when we pull into the parking lot! They've been to daycare, for baths and nail trims and one long weekend where they stayed 2 nights and played during the day. Our dogs are extremely important to us, and it was a relief being away for 2 days knowing they were in good hands and enjoying themselves. I have one super active boy who gets to run himself silly around the gym when he's there- comes home happy and exhausted! Fun to watch him race back and forth on the webcam. Our boxer/mix Louie has had play days at Dogtopia and he absolutely loves it. The staff is super-friendly. I love that I can watch Louie play through the Doggy Video app, so I can see what he's doing at any given time. At first, our dog was placed in the "Gym" play area because he's a bigger puppy, but the staff realized he is more comfortable with smaller dogs so they made the adjustment. I felt that they really looked out for his best interest, and that was so reassuring. We just left Louie there for an extended stay over Thanksgiving, and had no worries about his well-being whatsoever. Again, we could watch him through the video app and see how happy he was playing with the other dogs. When we picked him up after four days of play, he was bathed, had teeth brushed, and was TIRED! To me, that means a good time. I wouldn't hesitate to take him back again. We've already referred friends to Dogtopia and I tell all of our dog-owner friends about this place. Fantastic! read more

I liked how happy and passionate the employees were. They spent a lot of time answering our questions during the initial consult. We boarded our dogs and gave them a spa day. They made sure the dogs were ready from their baths when we picked them up (vice washing them when we first dropped them off) to make sure they were clean when we got them. This place looks amazing on the surface but I am not happy my dog got sick. He has Kennel Cough. He goes to Dogtopia and home. The vet confirmed it and I called Dogtopia to notify them. The young man I spoke to, told me it's an airborne disease and he could have caught it anywhere. That is true, however he was only there and home. I was told the owner would call me and she did not. The way he spoke there will be no accountability for this. My pet is vaccinated but I trusted them to keep that place clean and warn me of outbreaks. If they aren't accepting responsibility for this, I doubt they will warn other pet owners. My vet told me this isnt the first outbreak they have had and stressed this is Extremely contagious. I am beyond angry about this and will never take my dog back. If I took my pet to other places during the incubation period for this, then I could concede it might not be where he caught it. He has been no where but home and there. The decent thing to do is to warn owners when this happens. He came home a couple of times soaked in dog pee and they said he didn't like the crate. I mentioned it to them and they took to bathing him before pick up. I ignored little signs I should have paid more attention to. I could never quite tell if he liked there or not. I kept looking at every one and their stellar reviews but I just didn't see that excitement in him. He wasn't fond of the mandatory 2 hour crate time. This is not how we wanted to spend our Christmas. Be wary of bringing your pet here. read more

I was excited to take my dog here but the gentleman working the front desk was not helpful at all. As a business, they should be willing to help and accommodate as needed. I needed an over night stay for my dog and they only had very select times for evaluation-both during the day on a weekday. Most people work full time jobs during the day. I was shocked that they would not fit me in anywhere! Again, having this business they should have been happy to schedule another time for me. I will never go here again. Maybe it is a good place for the dogs, but the employee was not friendly or helpful. read more

This was our first time bringing our dog, Cassandra to Dogtopia. We were a little nervous about what to expect. The staff recognized our apprehension and explained in great detail how it all works when you board a dog. I loved the fact that we could log in at anytime to their doggy video app and see what she was doing. That put a lot of our fears to rest. I loved that we would get a daily progress report on how she was doing. I also loved that they took some pictures of her and posted them for us along with their completed report at the end of her boarding. The staff were very helpful and very professional. We will definitely be bringing her back to board with them again in the future. read more

I LOVE this place so much! It's so scary leaving your pets places not knowing how they're being treated and the webcam is so ideal !! I've also used their spa services which is great as well.
