Recently used this business and I can't say enough great things about them…read more Not only did they not take care of my pets but watered my plants, made sure there were no pet accidents- offered to check mail .... And so much more. Received a daily log of activity with pictures of my pets; via their app. Highly recommend as their service and the price cannot be beat. My pets were able to stay at home and not be stressed by going to a boarding place and being in a cage/ kennel. Lisa has pet services done right and Lauren was great- she even got my shy pet to come to her! Absolutely wonderful services highly recommend.

Needless to say, Chris is as good as they come. Loved the online system, and the emails. Dogs seemed very content. We have a pack of 3 that can be a handful, and I immediately felt at ease with Chris and confident that he would follow our routine. As he reiterated, "if it's not broken, don't fix it". We don't like to leave our dogs, but being dual active-duty means sometimes we will. I was able to enjoy a great visit with my husband, knowing my dogs were taken care of.

I just needed him for a couple of days and since my particular critters are skittish, I warned him that he may never see them. Much to my delight, on the first day I was gone, I got a journal entry from him including a picture of two of my cats who were brave enough to come out for a feeding. His website is thorough so I felt that I was leaving him all the information he might need but, of course, not only did he have my cell phone number but also backup numbers for people who have access to the house. Honestly, I will definitely be calling him for my next trip. He actually did a better job that the person I paid twice as much to live in the house!

She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

Wow! I'm so impressed with Lisa's! The staff are friendly, and helpful, and super nice. The…read moreaccommodations are really excellent - no urine smell anywhere (unlike so many kennels I've used in the past); even the bedding came back folded and unsmelly. Each unit has its own outside run through a dog door - so the dogs don't have to wait to be taken out if they need to go. The buildings are heated/air conditioned - so great! They get to go out and play in well-kept grassy areas SIX times per day. Bottom line, they treated my dogs like they would their own - with respect, and care, and attention. And for all that, the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be using this kennel again.

The owner lacks people skills, but I'm not holding that against her-we all have our own issues. The price is comparable to others in the area, the grounds outside are clean with easy access to I-95. The bad and ugly are too numerous to overcome for the good. The minute the door opened the place WREAKED! The floors looked clean, but I'm guessing not anywhere near sanitary! Crates (big and small) are simply all over-dogs barking, howling, screaming and crying. Because I had no other reservations, we left the dogs (mistake). During the trip, they gave the dogs wet food without asking me -which, of course, led to diarrhea, but no one called to let me know that -I found out when I called in. The dogs had poo in their fur -the younger had it on his neck and head ...??? The sleeping crate had crystallized urine in it (I had washed it out inside before bringing it into the house) and the sleeping towel I left was nowhere to be found (how long had my pup been sleeping on a bare, urine soaked crate?). I had to hose down the crate before bringing it in the house. There are no barriers or sight blockers between large kennels, so dogs can bite at each other through the wire. They also tried to send home a bone with us that had obviously been chewed in, but did not belong to us, leaning me to wonder what else is being shared between the various boarders. This was quite a new experience for me-usually I am asked before my dogs are given anything I didn't pre-approve or bring due to allergy problems and gastrointestinal issues. I've never heard digs wailing or crying like that before in a kennel--but perhaps it was just the temperament of the particular fogs-still heartbreaking, and not good for my babies to be around. I do not think there is any malice or bad will going on-I think they were truly concerned about the dogs eating habits (I was clear that was normal for them), but it's clearly not where I want my pups to stay in the future. Clearer communication and a better smelling/clean place, plus concern for clean sleeping crate would have made this a much better review.
