Recently used this business and I can't say enough great things about them…read more Not only did they not take care of my pets but watered my plants, made sure there were no pet accidents- offered to check mail .... And so much more. Received a daily log of activity with pictures of my pets; via their app. Highly recommend as their service and the price cannot be beat. My pets were able to stay at home and not be stressed by going to a boarding place and being in a cage/ kennel. Lisa has pet services done right and Lauren was great- she even got my shy pet to come to her! Absolutely wonderful services highly recommend.

She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

The…read moreaccommodations are really excellent - no urine smell anywhere (unlike so many kennels I've used in the past); even the bedding came back folded and unsmelly. Each unit has its own outside run through a dog door - so the dogs don't have to wait to be taken out if they need to go. The buildings are heated/air conditioned - so great! They get to go out and play in well-kept grassy areas SIX times per day. Bottom line, they treated my dogs like they would their own - with respect, and care, and attention. And for all that, the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be using this kennel again.

The owner lacks people skills, but I'm not holding that against her-we all have our own issues. The price is comparable to others in the area, the grounds outside are clean with easy access to I-95. The bad and ugly are too numerous to overcome for the good. The minute the door opened the place WREAKED! The floors looked clean, but I'm guessing not anywhere near sanitary! Crates (big and small) are simply all over-dogs barking, howling, screaming and crying. Because I had no other reservations, we left the dogs (mistake). During the trip, they gave the dogs wet food without asking me -which, of course, led to diarrhea, but no one called to let me know that -I found out when I called in. The dogs had poo in their fur -the younger had it on his neck and head ...??? The sleeping crate had crystallized urine in it (I had washed it out inside before bringing it into the house) and the sleeping towel I left was nowhere to be found (how long had my pup been sleeping on a bare, urine soaked crate?). I had to hose down the crate before bringing it in the house. There are no barriers or sight blockers between large kennels, so dogs can bite at each other through the wire. They also tried to send home a bone with us that had obviously been chewed in, but did not belong to us, leaning me to wonder what else is being shared between the various boarders. This was quite a new experience for me-usually I am asked before my dogs are given anything I didn't pre-approve or bring due to allergy problems and gastrointestinal issues. I've never heard digs wailing or crying like that before in a kennel--but perhaps it was just the temperament of the particular fogs-still heartbreaking, and not good for my babies to be around. I do not think there is any malice or bad will going on-I think they were truly concerned about the dogs eating habits (I was clear that was normal for them), but it's clearly not where I want my pups to stay in the future. Clearer communication and a better smelling/clean place, plus concern for clean sleeping crate would have made this a much better review.

It stabilizes our sanity and connects us with those higher powers in our souls that can only come from our creator the one and holy one---the almighty everlasting everliving God. I was pleased to hear from Bonnie, the owner, inquiring whether I had followed the health screening agreement as required. We took "Nick," now Benjamin, to be seen within the time frame outlined in the contract. After his visit, I was informed that he had a parasite in his stool. I immediately notified Bonnie, who offered me a store credit. While I thought that was a kind gesture, I do not live in the area, so it would not benefit me. Furthermore, I was only being informative, as required by the agreement--I wasn't seeking anything. Since she offered, I simply asked if there was an alternative given my location. She insisted on store credit only and asked for the records and invoice, which I provided. Again, I clarified that I was not requesting compensation. After that exchange, however, Bonnie stopped communicating altogether. She never inquired about whether Benjamin was ill from the parasite or showed any concern for his well-being. I found that quite disappointing. The parasite is contracted by consuming rodents, infected feces etc. That doesn't say much about his dwellings prior to being adopted.

I originally called and wanted to walk the facility to see what the kennel looked like to ensure I was comfortable with boarding my pups there. The facility appeared to be clean and up kept. We were not allowed to see the inside of the facilities but the staff were accommodating in sending us pictures so we could see. During my pups stay, we did not receive any phone calls or updates so we assumed they were happy and healthy. I would say that would be the only thing if we would receive updates via text or email that would have made me feel more assured but overall we were really happy with the process. Our dogs returned to us happy and didn't seem stressed whatsoever. We would definitely bring them back again. Thank you!!!

Excellent, Patient, Professional and Very Experienced Dog Trainer…read more I would give 24 stars if it was an option. Dave has helped me more times than I can count and is the reason that my dog is an absolute angel. I am a better owner because of all he's taught me. Dave takes the time to really explain why your dog is behaving a certain way, making sure you as the owner understands it completely, and fixes it. I would VERY highly recommend Dave to any dog owner that is having even the smallest issue. Slightly off topic but needs to be mentioned, I'm a bit confused how the 1 star review below is even still on this page. Everything about that review is inaccurate and I couldn't take it seriously after the 4th word of overpriced. Canine Karma Training has extremely reasonable pricing for the Nassau/ Suffolk area compared to other training companies. That review screams fake account as it was only created to leave this review then went on to 5 star review chinese take out places the same day. Chinese take out places should never be a 5 star but that's a story for another day. Come on Yelp, clean up the trash
