I wouldn't trade him for anything. Now, let's chat. I was pleased to hear from Bonnie, the owner, inquiring whether I had followed the health screening agreement as required. We took "Nick," now Benjamin, to be seen within the time frame outlined in the contract. After his visit, I was informed that he had a parasite in his stool. I immediately notified Bonnie, who offered me a store credit. While I thought that was a kind gesture, I do not live in the area, so it would not benefit me. Furthermore, I was only being informative, as required by the agreement--I wasn't seeking anything. Since she offered, I simply asked if there was an alternative given my location. She insisted on store credit only and asked for the records and invoice, which I provided. Again, I clarified that I was not requesting compensation. After that exchange, however, Bonnie stopped communicating altogether. She never inquired about whether Benjamin was ill from the parasite or showed any concern for his well-being. I found that quite disappointing. The parasite is contracted by consuming rodents, infected feces etc. That doesn't say much about his dwellings prior to being adopted. read more

I don't think anyone should be buying any animals from this business. They are not being taken care of properly, most of the time when these dogs leaves these type of facilities they take sicknesses with them, it starts off with kennel cough then sometimes vomiting but they have a strict no return policy. You can bring the animal back but your money will be gone. I am researching how I can take my complaint to a state or local level because this was heartbreaking to see in person as an adult. It's inhumane. I've bred dogs before and have trained them and this is setting the future parents up for failure. This truly breaks my heart to see the animals in this manner. First, let me say that small, family-owned businesses ARE different and small business owners are different. If you want to be 'blasted' as you enter the door by a rush of forced air with 'ode-de-lavender-bleach' and greeted by an aproned 'welcomer' who offers you hand sanitizer and a flyer with the discounts of the week, then this is NOT your place. What a small, family-owned business is: - doing the work that you don't see, at 4am, when you can't see it getting done - focused on their human family, fin-feather-fur family and fosters, and regular customers, first (in that order). I don't prefer puppy mills but what do we all know that mills must move litters. Brokers have a place in the market to place full-bred last-in-litter or 'over capacity' so breeding centers are NOT overpopulated. The options are: (1) redistribution to places with higher demand or (2) humane placement, where there may be a clock. I would rather see small businesses that care succeed than giant chains that are the bread and butter of mills (my opinion). Responsible pet owners understand that: 1. A caring home may look different than their own. 2. The animal's temperament is being evaluated, always. 3. The temperament of the customer is being evaluated. 4. Some animals are not yet for sale or not expected to be sold, depending upon this process. 5. They will be asked questions, including: -why are you planning to adopt? -what sort of yard do you have? -do you know anything about this breed? -will you agree to call us if there is a problem? -will you bring the animal back if you change your situation/mind? These are signs that there is a caring person/family who wants to ensure that potential adopters meet their expectations as responsible and caring adoptive families for that particular pet's temperament. read more

Putting this review here since they deleted my Google review- I would NEVER recommend going to this place. I got a puppy from here in November. When we took her to the vet they found a parasite in her stool and put her on medication for that. Throughout our first week with her we noticed she had this hacking cough that was getting worse, and she eventually started getting less playful. We rushed her to an emergency vet to find that she had kennel cough. Shortly after that the kennel cough worsened to pneumonia that required a two day hospitalization (with IV antibiotics, additional oxygen therapy, antiemetics, and chest xrays) that ended up costing thousands of dollars. When I informed the owner of this (who had reached out to me to see how my puppy was doing), there was no response. I love my dog to the moon and back, but it seems clear this place doesn't share the same caring and love for animals under their care given the constant reviews (and my own personal experience) involving sick puppies from here. read more

I purchased my first Yorkie years ago from Pets plus. She bought us so much happiness and we loved her so much. When we lost her we were do sad and empty. Decided to check out Pets plus again just to look. Much to our surprise Bonnie still owned the store. Her and her staff truly care about their animals and customers. My husband and I stopped in last week. I don't even really consider myself a huge animal person, but I couldn't just let this go. I've thought about it every day since. These conditions are absolutely inhumane. They have two puppies living in a 2 by 4 cube. Absolutely unacceptable. The puppies get little to no playtime. I also thought it was ironic that they were signs that said you couldn't take pictures of the dogs unless they were out of the cage. They don't want people to know what is actually happening. I can't believe a place like this is still in business. One of the ladies was replacing the water and manhandling the puppies because they were trying to get out of the cage. Purchased a pup in october and immediately brought him to my vet to get checked. He had kennel cough and parasites. I was reimbursed for the medication but weeks later the cough was still persistent and his stool was still not great. Back to the vet we went where they did chest xrays- and told continue to monitor stool before we look into more serious issues. I emailed the owner to state that they sold me a sick dog and ask how they would like to rectify the issue. They have yet to respond. My pup is very cute and happy and is being well taken care of now :) read more

We adopted a Siberian Husky puppy from here and the customer service was amazing! We were helped by multiple employees and they were all very helpful and attentive. Everyone was very kind and they gave us as much time as we wanted with the puppy before making the decision to bring her home as a new member of our family. All the pups were playing and looked well fed. To those saying it's "dirty", please remember that it's a pet store, nowhere is going to be immaculate be any means when multiple animals are involved. With that said I didn't find the place dirty at all. If a puppy made a mess they cleaned it immediately and when we told them we wanted to bring our pup home they gave her a fresh bath/grooming and an adorable bandanna while we filled out the paperwork and paid. I have been going to this pet store since 2016. It has always been my favorite in the area until our recent trip. They have an African Gray Parot in the front when you walk in. It specifically states that she is not for sale yet due to needing to go to the vet 1st. The sign also said not to reach in her Cage because she bites but she wasn't In her cage she was sitting on top. I grew up having a parot that still lives with my parents today. I've also kept other kinds of birds. So I went to talk to her with my son. We stood there for 10ish minutes before walking around the rest of the store. The bird never showed any aggression towards me. She just seemed sickly. I was walking back towards the fish (what we were there for) and the owner (?) starts yelling at me to watch the bird. I had already read the sign and been face to face with her. I told him I was interested and would call in a few weeks once she's gone to the vet. He continues to tell me she does not like women. "See how she's looking at you???" Sir, she was looking at you that way. He then stated she would be a store bird because she only likes his wife. LOL so why do you have a sign up saying she will be for sale? This whole situation threw me off about this place. Then they proceed to sell us Ghost shrimp that have worms. Good pet store with lots of products to offer! Way more interesting than all the other chain stores. My son and I were looking for a hamster. They had a charity pet that someone couldn't take care of for $20 (animal, cage, bowls, everything). My son and I even accidentally let him run around the store - he escaped!!!! PUPPY MILL!! No idea how these god awful people are still in business. 3-4 dogs in one kennel cube, there's little maintenance over them and ANY potential/current dog owner worth their salt KNOWS that after 8 weeks puppies are officially in their "formative" years. There is barely ANY human interaction as they're kept on display the majority of the day in a tiny cube. These close quarters mixed with constant urination and fecal matter being stepped on just screams of disease and complications. There is no excuse for the exorbitant amount they demand for these "luxury" dogs. Also, don't bother asking questions. They're obviously defensive about their shameful practices and don't actually care for the animals. When the pups grow out of the puppy stage, if the puppy isn't bought do they just get sent to a shelter, or are they properly homed? "That's up to the breeder." The store is small and cramped, their reptile/aviary/critter section is literally all clumped in to one corner. I just really cannot fathom how people can look past the blatantly obvious and still support this place. This store and the breeders that send their pups here need to be shut down and never allowed near animals again. read more

DO NOT BUY ANY PET FROM THIS PLACE... my wife recently purchased a 7week puppy for 2grand... little did we know, this place had sold us a sick puppy! 2 days later we rush him to the emergency vet, where he tested positive for PARVO and 2 days later he died! Knowing how contagious PARVO is, my wife alerted this place to check the other puppies who shared space with ours! However they did not seemed concerned about it, as if the puppies they hold have no value besides their monetary gain!! I usually wouldn't not get so involved in this kind of situations, but what aggravated me even more is how this place had the audacity to call my wife and harass her after leaving a review, trying to warn other buyers to be careful before taking any puppies home! I got my first puppy here and the staff was amazing and so patient. And the store was so clean compared to a lot of pounds that I have been.I literally came every day for a week to look at the puppies and probably played with every little dog in there. Only to get the first one I had originally played with, And he's the love of my life and so healthy. The only problem we had was that bean (my dog) had to get some medicine when we first brought him home, but pet plus covered it because they were liable. but they made it super quick and easy. I recommend this place to any one that ask me where I got bean and I will definitely be buying another puppy from here in the future.thank you pet plus for my amazing puppy. Nice pet store with a nice variety. I primarily come here to get saltwater fish. We bought a puppy here on sale and the staff was nice and very thorough in the process. The normal puppy prices are a little high but when they are on sale they are inline with the local breeders. The pets on display at the store seem happy and in good health for the most part. The store itself could use a little updating and cleaning but other then that it's just your regular old pet store. read more

This store doubles up as a uhaul. My husband brought me here and we bought a puppy (3 months old). When we had our first check up at the vet, they found that he had 2 parasites and was malnourished (probably due to the parasites). I am glad we have a cute puppy, but now I understand why there are so many bad reviews here. I know parasites are common in puppies, but you would think that a pet store would have their dogs checked and treated. I feel bad for the other dogs in there. read more

Really lengthy adoption process, we had a friend have a faster adoption process. It took us 3 days to finance our corgi when the same process for our friend took 2 hours. NOTE WE GOT THE SAME TYPE OF DOG. They were very disorganized with paperwork and 2/3 employees were unhelpful. There was only one employee that was actually super helpful and she deserves a raise! They have beautiful fish and reptiles. Our corgi Aurora is great! She's playful energetic and very healthy although a really picky eater when it comes to dog food. I feel like they need to improve their customer service skills and communication tremendously. They have a wide variety of pet supplies ranging from leashes to food. Our payments for our corgi are low and all in all we left with a beautiful puppy so there's nothing more to complain about. Hopefully this will be helpful if you are thinking about financing a puppy or any animal through Pets Plus. I would recommend them in the future when it comes to pet supplies. Update: we have spoken with the owner of Pets Plus to resolve the situation of our 3 day financing hold up. She was more than helpful and we look forward to taking our precious corgi to visit often. Update: our corgi is wonderful she is miss personality. No major health issues what's so ever, staff are always friendly and happy to help I believe they hired more employees but wonderful wonderful customer service experience while buying dog supplies. We are definitely considering buying my mother a puppy from here. The cages are clean no more than 2-3 dogs in a cage depending on their size and the size of the dog. Our corgi is happy and healthy and thriving. I don't understand why I read reviews about Parvo and sick animals, our dog was in perfect health besides a worm issue in which the owner was more than helpful and concerned when she was a little sick. Pets plus covered majority of the vet cost and within a week she was back to her old playful self. She is spunky, silly, and a wonderful member of our family. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The puppies are in poor condition and definitely from puppy mills houses 3 or 4 to a small cage. The reptiles and birds are abysmal at best. Every reptile looks sick and malnourished. They clearly have no idea how to care for saltwater fish and coral. After buying saltwater from them the salinity was extremely low when I tested it. The tanks are riddled with black slime algae and aptasia, the corals are all half dead, and most of the fish are clearly in distress. The dry goods are often open or expired. Not sure how these guys are still in business. The staff clearly has no interest in the wellbeing of the animals in the store. read more

I went by to look at the animals and I regret doing so. It was incredibly depressing. It's dark, the animals are in small cages and most of the dogs were double or tripled up. Got the attention of an employee when one day was repeatedly biting the ear and face (in a mean manner) of a much smaller puppy in its cage. She opened the door and threw some chew toys and walked away. They should be shut down. read more

This is awful. They have been muzzling my Winston. I never knew this. No one ever mentioned this to me. He has been there at least 4 times. I went to drop off Winston and mentioned that the hair around his mouth was so long he couldn't eat last time, so I had to cut it myself. She said we probably won't be able to because we have to put muzzle on him. I was so heart broken my poor puppy. read more

But not every household can handle what shelters offer. Be kind to pet shops. Research the breeders to avoid puppy mills. Fight for policy to restrict puppy mills in your community.
