You should make it clear on the website that you are not accepting new clients, so people won't waste time contacting you.

After posting my reviews, I received a phone call from one of the trainers apologizing for not…read moreresponding to my inquiry. She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

Okay, first let me start by saying that we absolutely love our puppy. I do agree that the…read moreenclosures they are kept in are quite disheartening, and I'm grateful I was able to bring him home with me. I wouldn't trade him for anything. Now, let's chat. I was pleased to hear from Bonnie, the owner, inquiring whether I had followed the health screening agreement as required. We took "Nick," now Benjamin, to be seen within the time frame outlined in the contract. After his visit, I was informed that he had a parasite in his stool. I immediately notified Bonnie, who offered me a store credit. While I thought that was a kind gesture, I do not live in the area, so it would not benefit me. Furthermore, I was only being informative, as required by the agreement--I wasn't seeking anything. Since she offered, I simply asked if there was an alternative given my location. She insisted on store credit only and asked for the records and invoice, which I provided. Again, I clarified that I was not requesting compensation. After that exchange, however, Bonnie stopped communicating altogether. She never inquired about whether Benjamin was ill from the parasite or showed any concern for his well-being. I found that quite disappointing. The parasite is contracted by consuming rodents, infected feces etc. That doesn't say much about his dwellings prior to being adopted.

I don't think anyone should be buying any animals from this business. They are not being taken care…read moreof properly, most of the time when these dogs leaves these type of facilities they take sicknesses with them, it starts off with kennel cough then sometimes vomiting but they have a strict no return policy. You can bring the animal back but your money will be gone. I am researching how I can take my complaint to a state or local level because this was heartbreaking to see in person as an adult. It's inhumane. I've bred dogs before and have trained them and this is setting the future parents up for failure. This truly breaks my heart to see the animals in this manner. If you understand how connected humans, animals and nature are then you would not allow this.

I reached out to the new owner Rebekah regarding purchasing a Labrador puppy. The initial…read morecommunication was good and everything seemed to be going well until I paid the "non-refundable $100 deposit". I asked Rebekah if we would be one of the families receiving a pick of the two upcoming litters she was expecting but she said she was unsure, so we were aware it may not be a litter until the fall. However, when I did not hear anything at the end of June I reached out via email twice to her and received no answer. On the 3rd email I politely asked for my refund due to lack of follow-up from the emails and not reaching out to let us know we were not one of the families to pick a puppy out of the 2 litters born. I assumed we were not since she never reached out to let us know, which we told her we were hopeful when initially placing a deposit. She quickly replied when I sent the email asking for my deposit back, stating that she never received the 2 emails prior to now. I kept all my correspondence on the same email chain, so kinda strange she got the one asking for a refund, but not the others. She refused to refund me and quoted the website "no refunds". I even sent another email saying $2400 is a lot of money for a dog, especially when you don't let your customers on a waiting list know where they stand or reply to 2 emails sent 6/17 and 6/20, refund email was 6/24/2025. She replied back and made no mention of my second request for a refund but said that she was disappointed that she will not be working with us solely based on not receiving my emails and made no mention of not following up with us after the litters were born to confirm if we would receive a puppy. Good customer service = communication, puppies were born last week of May/1st week of June, enough time went by to let us know. BEWARE! BEWARE! this is a quick $100 dollars for Rebekah or she would have done the right thing and gave us our $100 dollars back.
