I would give canine karma training 1 million stars if I could! I have followed Isabela and Dave for a while on IG and their dogs always look so happy and engaged. I finally reached out to Isabella after I adopted a new puppy and realized I might be in over my head...and I am so grateful I did! Although I live in a different state, our zoom lessons have exceeded all my expectations! In our first zoom lesson Isabela provided instruction tailored for this stage in my puppies training, explaining the psychology behind everything which empowered me to apply the training. She answered my million questions so thoughtfully and with explanations based in actual science, and went above and beyond providing support for the training over text. My pup is insecure, and I was nervous about our Christmas vacation because it would be her first time around so many people. I texted Isabela about my worries and she gave me a step-by-step plan on how to turn this into a positive training experience! Christmas could have been a disaster, but using Isabela's instruction, it turned into a great learning opportunity for both me and my puppy. It's only been a couple weeks since we started lessons, but the change in my dog has already been huge and I feel so confident knowing I have a plan and the support of great trainers. Thank you Canine Karma Training!

Dave has changed our lives- no joke. We adopted Taylor 2 years ago and brought her into our home with our 2 older dogs. Tay had spent her entire life in a shelter (5+ years) and had very limited social skills with both humans and dogs, in a home setting. Outside, she was fine with our other dogs. Inside? She attacked/reacted to them almost daily, to the point where we had her on a leash inside the house every hour of every day. After 2 days, we knew we needed a trainer. I found Dave on Yelp and decided to contact him. We worked with him for about 6 months and the difference was amazing. Because of Taylor's history, we all felt time was what she needed to truly feel safe and loved. We took what Dave taught us and worked with Taylor for the next year on our own". I text Dave with questions and he always answers, and I text him with updates and progress. It's been about 6 months now that Taylor has been free of the leash in our home and she is doing great. I know 100% we would not be where we are now without Dave. He has helped us learn so much so we could give Taylor the life she deserves. I'm telling you, call him- you will not regret it. PS- that 1 star review has to be fake. Overpriced??? He has to be the most reasonably priced reputable trainer on Long Island.

She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

I purchased a puppy to train as a service dog from Storybrooke goldens about four or five months…read moreago. Since I brought him home, he has suffered with recurrent treatment resistant Giardia. He was vomiting from the time. We drove him home and had very little appetite for weeks. Because of this he is very likely to be extremely stunted in his growth meaning that his job of being a mobility service dog is in jeopardy of not being a viable option so I have spent almost $4000 on a puppy that was meant to be healthy, which I am too attached to to send back, who is most likely not gonna be able to help me in the way that he was supposed to. I informed the breeder that he was positive for Giardia as soon as I found out because I wanted them to know in case they had other families reporting G.I. issues with other puppies. In my opinion, a reputable breeder should respond to that by saying "please send us the bill for any treatment the puppy might need and we will cover it" (I've spoken to other people who's breeder had litters with Giardia, and as soon as that breeder found out, all the owners were contacted immediately and the breeder offered to cover treatment without being asked, so it's definitely not unheard of). That is not what happened. I have since treated my puppy with dewormer and antibiotics four times and he is still positive for Giardia, still having diarrhea, and still not growing properly. This dog was expected to be between 75 and 80 pounds like his dad and now his projected growth is less than 55 pounds. I emailed the breeder a week ago going over the whole situation from start to finish and giving them an itemized list of what I have spent trying to treat him and my home for Giardia. I have not heard anything and it has been a full week since I sent that email. They have not responded in any way, nor have they reimbursed me for the almost $1000 I have spent on treating this. When I first brought him home, I had every intention of recommending this breeder to others and of getting future dogs from them, both service dogs or pet dogs, however the lack of appropriate response to this situation has made me lose all trust and respect in them as a breeder. I will never get another dog from this breeder. I will never get another puppy from a breeder without requiring a Giardia test to be negative within a few days of picking up the dog. I originally really liked the breeder. They seemed very nice. They had a beautiful home that was extremely clean despite the number of dogs that they had and they seem to know what they were talking about, as well as having produced other therapy and service dogs previously, but I no longer can recommend them after the way the situation has played out. Please be very wary before purchasing a dog from these people. They sell puppies for $3500 and clearly are turning out puppies with treatment resistant Giardia. Upon further research, I am far from the only person who got a puppy from them that was infected with Giardia, I've found posts as far back as 2018 about this. I thought I had done my due diligence, but now I would definitely call them a backyard breeder/puppy mill. They also lied about having certain health clearances, ghost anyone who reaches out with issues, and may or may not inbreed their dogs. Multiple people said their puppies had hip or elbow dysplasia as well. If I could give them zero stars, I would. They scammed a disabled woman on a fixed income out of almost $4000. They should be ashamed of themselves.

My husband and I adopted 2 black labs that were bred to be working dogs for TSA. The dogs didn't make the cut so we adopted a brother and sister when they were one year old. We've now had them four months and what Lee has done and taught us to do is beyond believable. When we brought the dogs home they had never been in a house, only in a kennel their entire life. They were not potty trained, were not good on the leash, and didn't know even the basic commands such as sit, stay, come. They barked in their crates non stop and would go potty in the house AFTER being brought in from outside. The male dog would not look us in the face and was afraid of the garage and the car and had to be picked up and put in the car for vet visits. He was 60 plus pounds at the time so needles to say he only went to the vet when my husband or sons could put him in the car. We phoned Lee and that's the best call we've every made. He came into the room and his presence alone prompted very different behavior in our furry babies. He worked with them, taught us to work with them, answered my emails usually within an hour or so, but always the same day, and has had several follow up visits. Every single visit with Lee resulted in marked improvement. Fast forward four months to present day and now our guys will go their crates simply by saying "crate". They rarely if every bark in their crates and if so all I have to say is "quiet". They ring a bell on the door when they need to go potty. They don't bark at the neighbors any longer. They sit, stay and come. Walking them on a leash is easy easy easy now. They go through the garage and jump into the car now. The icing on the cake is that now when the doorbell rings they bark, but when I say "It's ok", they go sit at the top of the landing on the stairs. The male dog not only looks us in the face now but brings big sloppy kisses all the time! They are loving, confident, secure and a source of pure joy to us. They are so well behaved that they had their first visit to the dog park yesterday and did beautifully. A man was passing out hot dog bites to the dogs and they were jumping and climbing all over him. Our sweet girl sat in the middle of them and waited for him to give her a bite...no jumping, climbing, barking, just sitting beautifully until it was her turn. Our dogs would not be as happy and we would not be as happy if we had not phoned Lee at Bark Busters to help us. It's a joy to watch him train the dogs. It's obvious he has a true love of animals and our dogs love their time with him.

However, when I did not hear anything at the end of June I reached out via email twice to her and received no answer. On the 3rd email I politely asked for my refund due to lack of follow-up from the emails and not reaching out to let us know we were not one of the families to pick a puppy out of the 2 litters born. I kept all my correspondence on the same email chain, so kinda strange she got the one asking for a refund, but not the others. She refused to refund me and quoted the website "no refunds". I even sent another email saying $2400 is a lot of money for a dog, especially when you don't let your customers on a waiting list know where they stand or reply to 2 emails sent 6/17 and 6/20, refund email was 6/24/2025.
