I have never in my life met had to deal with someone so unprofessional as the store leader Kayla Shaw at this location. 06/18/2024, my dog received services for a groom. In the notes I put for this groom, I requested that the dog's tail not me cut. My mom dropped my dog off while I was on Facetime with her. I heard the groomer ask my mom about the tail and I heard my mom said "Please do not cut her tail." The groomer says okay, I see that here in the notes. Of course we get a dog with a cut tail. We decided to brush it off because we really have never had any problems with this PetSmart before. On 8/19/2024, we decided to go back for the same service and the same dog. We ordered the summer plus package which includes, a bandana, cookie, and coupon book. We are frequent customers of Petsmart, especially with the addition of a new puppy, so the coupon book was something I was looking forward too. My dad went to pick up the dog and she did not receive the coupon book. When I called Petsmart about 30 minutes after her groom to let them know she never received the book, she told me to come back and we will give her all that stuff she never got in the first place. I'm at work so I wasn't able to go and my dad had left 30 minutes ago and with traffic, returning back was just not an option. I did let the manager know this and that I lived an hour away. She said that she would mail the items. I waited for about a week and received nothing. So I reached out to PetSmart customer service to express my extreme frustration with the groomers just not following the notes and then to top it off not giving me services I paid for and also saying they were going to mail something and did not do it. After speaking with customer service, the extremely rude Kayla Shaw decided to email me back (in the picture) saying that she is sorry I did not get the items mailed to me on 08/21. As of November 10 (three months later), these items still have not made it to me. If she found the time to email and mail the items, why was a tracking number not provided? These items were never sent in the first place. Also, instead of just giving me the items I never received, she added a $10 certificate for my next groom. I told her that I was not interested in that and I just really wanted my items. I sent this message to customer service at Petsmart again. Kayla calls my phone and she left a voice message in the most sarcastic tone ever how she would loveeee to have a phone conversation with me since I'm sending emails, as if I would be afraid to speak on the phone to her. I called her back and at the end of the conversation, she then replies to come in for a full refund. I found it very interesting after I got on the phone not rude or anything, how her sarcastic tone of voice suddenly changed. I guess she was expecting me to be rude, but I am nothing like her and have no reason to be rude to people. We eventually got the refund about a month later and I was satisfied. If my services were never rendered, the only option is a refund. I got my refund and said I would never return to this location. I thought nightmare with this location was over. I go to book my dog for a bath here in Alexandria. Come to find out Kayla blocked my dog from being booked at every PetSmart location that exists. At this point I am FURIOUS. My dog has never done anything wrong. Petsmart Stafford dropped the ball. You all don't follow grooming notes and you have a spiteful store manager. Your solution is to block a customer from grooming at all Petsmart locations??? I was able to get the block off from Shelby and she said she would forward this information to Kayla. I'm imagining she is going to put the block on again because yes I did file yet another complaint, because I refuse to let Kayla be the bully she thinks she is. read more

I am absolutely appalled by my experience at Petsmart today I brought my dog in for a routine grooming, and not only was she accused of being aggressive - which is completely untrue - but she was also treated terribly during her time there. After claiming my dog was acting aggressively (which is totally out of character for her), they put her in a cage for hours without any updates or proper care. When I picked her up, she was visibly stressed and upset, which is unlike her after any other grooming session. She had 3 previous visits with Tim who does a wonderful job and has experienced and most importantly love animals, unfortunately he was on vacation today and because my dog needed a haircut and bath I thought this groomer Nicole should be ok wrong!! this facility is not only unprofessional but also unsafe and unkind to animals. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone who cares about their pet's well-being. Please avoid this place if you want your dog to be treated with respect and care! Also the manager Shelby was unpleasant and unprofessional. I was loyal customer to petsmart for more than 10 years until today, I will never bring my dogs there!! read more

Halfway through grooming our miniature poodle today, they call and say they can't finish because she has too much anxiety....and that we should get her groomed at a place that has a "veterinary capability." Uh....you mean like that 'veterinary capability 4 feet from your grooming 'salon' / department?? LIke that? Wow. They groomed her for over 6 years or so...she's always had anxiety when you put clippers near her face. It's a shame they don't have groomers that can do their job. Rather than address a customers' serious explanation/concern, the manager did not even speak to me or make eye contact and had her employee answer my question when they were both standing a few feet away... The 1 star is for one individual who is NOT a groomer. The groomers at the Stafford location are GREAT . Tim and Lindsey are my favorites. This review is for a female named Ty or Tay. I attempted to confirm and then make an appointment and was hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, the customer service was very disappointing. The staff member I interacted with was dismissive and unwilling to assist, making the conversation feel unwelcoming. To make matters worse, Ty abruptly hung up on me, which was both frustrating and unprofessional. I understand that customer service can be challenging, but patience and basic courtesy go a long way in ensuring customers feel respected. I hope management considers providing additional training to address these issues and improve future interactions. I spoke with the store manager and the grooming manager. They both apologized. So I got my first snake here she's a absolute doll. That being said when i first got there they said she was more "aggressive" than the others. She had shed all over her eyes, was very very small for her kind. They lady wouldn't grab her and continued to poke her with a snake stick. Eventually I just reached into the cage because I could tell we weren't making progress. The ball python latched on to me pretty good, I didn't mind because she was afraid. After that I was pretty much sold on buying her, she's been a wonderful addition to my life. Never once has she attempted to bite or do anything to others. A genuine puppy dog of snakes, loves to curly up in a hoodie. She has a good home and a full belly. Best $50 I've spent! Just wished they did these babies better :/ read more

My dog typically doesn't get groomed here, but he does get his medical issues taken care of through Banfield. He is well taken care of, never any problems and the assistants are quite helpful. I have used this PetSmart multiple times for the same service: wash, brush (fulminator), clip nails. Service should take an hour to perform - maybe an hour and 15 minutes. I had a 12 Noon appointment today and did not get my dog back until 2:45. I could see they were still working on her as I walked in. It has never taken this long. When questioned, the groomer said she was double booked. This PetSmart grooming service is always packed. This must be an extremely high margin business since the service is not cheap. The business has outgrown the facility and they need more space. When dropping your dog off, they have a very small reception area that can only take one customer at a time. I have waited as long as 15 minutes to drop my dog off. Today's wait was ten minutes. The service itself is OK. I am always generous with a tip for good service. This review is for their grooming service. They not only did a wonderful grooming job with my Pomeranian-Yorkie mix, but they had the task of fixing a botched job. We first took my baby to Lord Charlton Kennels & Pet Spa to be groomed, and the groomer did absolutely terrible. We didn't even go home, we went straight to PetSmart to see if there was anything at all they could do. They were so incredibly nice, everyone shared their deep sympathies, (and some giggles) for the service we previously received at LCK. We didn't call ahead or anything, and they found a way to fit us right in! They assured us the terrible cut was fixable, and they were confident in what to do with her. She came in with a dried out coat and an unimaginable cut, and they miraculously fixed her! They told us that the cut was so uneven, they would have to cut her low, which we were okay with, and they said they would be gentle with her knowing being groomed back to back could be exhausting. It's the worst place to go for finding care for your pet . I took my cat there and I told them what exactly his symptoms. They took him and then they called me and wanted to enroll him for wellness care and I agreed with anything can be good for him. After more than 5 hours they had him in his box I went there and asked what's wrong with him the receptionist told me I don't know I will ask the doctor. This review is for the Grooming Salon. I brought my pet for grooming and nail grinding. I didn't like how my dog looked like after the grooming. And I thought nail grinding makes the rough edges smooth so it doesn't scratch furnitures or you, yet look at the attached pic and see what happened to my arms right after I picked him up at the salon. I have to bribe him with human food so I can file his nails which were trimmed and left as is - sharp and rough! I know they were busy that day but that doesn't mean they can lower the quality of their service. In that case, they could have lowered my bill too. What a waste of money! read more

When 3:30 rolled around and I hadn't heard from them I called to see if my dog was ready to be picked up. I could practically see this guy rolling his eyes over phone because I had called. His response was yeah, he is almost done you can come now. So I show up at 4 to pick up my dog. Another young lady brings him out to me because Tim (the groomer) had left for the day. My dogs back was completely jacked up. It was completely uneven and patchy! Nowhere in the conversation did the groomer ever say he had a problem with my dog or there was an issue with matting. Do not take your pet here to get groomed. My dog was dropped off at 10. Almost 4 hours later was finally done but my husband never recieved the call to pick him up. We paid 40.99 just so we could have our dog bathed. They didn't even cut his nails. The groomers weren't the friendliest either. I bought a large bag of Purina One from this PetSmart two days ago. When I opened the bag it was filed with larva. Alot. And they were pretty big. I was grossed out of course so I took the food back for a refund. I told the man why I was returning the food he check the bag , along with another coworker. He told me he had never seen anything like that. He gave me the refund. All of this I was ok with. Things got weird though when I went back to the dog food to get a different brand. (I'll never get Purina One again.) As I was looking I decided that I wanted to check the ingredients in Purina One to see how it stacked up to other brands. I went to where that dog food was and grabbed a small bag to check out the ingredients. On the outside of the bag I saw the same larva. I looked at the bag next to it. More larva. On the shelf...larva squirming around. So I walked over to two PetSmart employees who were in the dog food section. One had been at the counter when I returned my gross dog food and had looked in the bag. I brought them to the Purina One section and told them that they had a bigger problem than just one bag. The woman turned to me and said, "Well you shouldn't have been buying this anyway. Its a lousy product. Its a 'grocery store' brand." She then grabbed a few of the small bags of Purina One then used her entire arm to swipe the shelf clean. Little bits of dust and larva fell to the floor. The guy didn't seem ok with that. He stepped back and made a disgusted sound. I told them that regardless of the quality of the dog food, larva was not ok. The lady shrugged and again told me that it was a low grade brand. She then told me that I shouldn't buy that brand. It was a very frustrating conversation. I was trying to just let them know that their infestation was not confined to just one bag, and after seeing the larva wriggling on the self I think it's safe to say that other nearby brands may be at risk. Besides just not buying that brand I would suggest checking every crease and crevice before you buy a bag from this PetSmart. Or going to a different place altogether which is what I'm now doing. read more

Hands down, this is our "Go-To" pet place. We have two dogs; a 9 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and a 10 month old Dalmatian. this is where we go for our fur-kids. and here is why: Grooming:The grooming service does a good job and they are always very thorough. We've only had one issue and we brought it to our groomers attention right away. She happily took care of the problem. Prices: The prices are comparable to other competitors in the area. We really like that the staff will tell us when a sale is upcoming and ways to earn coupons. We keep our dogs on some pretty expensive chow, so we really appreciate all the tips that we get that help us save money. Training: Since he was old enough, we brought our 10 month old Dalmatian here for training. He is super smart, easily stimulated and can be very stubborn. It was wonderful working with our trainer, Gail. She was always patient with us, answered our many questions and helped find techniques that were individual for our dog and family. She had helped fit our dog with a correct walking harness and suggested treats that were motivating and toys that were like puzzles. Gail went out of her way like that for everyone in the classes that we were in. It made us feel so welcome and respected. Our Dalmatian was our first puppy, so we were a little overwhelmed to say the least. Gail and the rest of the Petsmart staff was/is always at the ready to help. It made us feel that we mattered and that they cared about our dog too. It's one of the reasons we keep coming back. Supplies: I can't even tell you all the things we have bought from Petsmart in the past. It's ranged from fish supplies, to cat toys, small animal bedding to dog beds. We've hit every department at one point or another in search of an item. What every visit has in common though, is that we were able to find what we needed. In the instance that we weren't, the manager went out of his way to order it for us, and have it shipped to our house too. That's service! I have been buying puppy and kitty goodies here for years. I also use the veterinary services they offer and the groomer. I've even been a volunteer in there kitty adoption center. So, I can confidently tell you all that my review carries some weight. Haha! Before Petsmart opened I use to get all my pet supplies from the Petco down the road. Honestly, until I finally tried shopping at the Petsmart I had no idea that a pet store could be any better than Petco. If any of you have ventured into a Petco, you probably understand my borderline disgust with them. The major if them are beyond dirty and the staff just never seems very pleasant. (This rule does not apply to Unleashed by Petco which is quite awesome). Anyway! The Petsmart in Stafford Marketplace is definitely worthy of 5 stars in my book. The store is always clean and organized, they rarely don't have items in stock, and there obviously is not a revolving door of staff (very good sign to me). I find that corporate stores of any kind tend to not keep the same people for a long time. You know there is a good manager if the lower level employees stick around. One if the highlights of this Petsmart is their groomer. I have a 130lb German shepherd that I just don't have the energy to scrub, so he makes biweekly visits to their groomer. Each time he is cleaned thoroughly, and loved on more than thoroughly. Neither of us have ever been disappointed with the service, and recommend them to anyone who either is or has a dirty puppy. ;) Petsmart in the Stafford Marketplace will continue to be my go to place for all my pet needs. Customer service (and I use that lightly) is TERRIBLE at best. The lady who deals with fish (blue hair) is awful. We've had fish a very long time and she spoke to us as if we knew nothing. I was dumbfounded. I asked to speak to a manager. I was "pointed" in the direction of the manager. I waited for her to get off the phone, only to be told that she'd get with me after she did an online order. All I can say is PetSmart must be incredibly desperate to have hired such crappy employees. I urge anyone reading this, to go ahead and give PetCo. a try. We went there immediately following the fiasco at PetSmart. The three employees that we encountered at PetCo. were AMAZING. Grooming for some reason has changed. This is the 2nd time that my miniature poodle has came home not cut correctly. We have been taking him here for 2+ years without issue. Prior to these 2 time they have been spot on. The first time there was an issue he looked like someone just combed him out then clipped him so that made it were we had to take him back earlier that usual which i can deal with. But this time he was hacked by the groomer. We hit the fan! We were told that the groomer that usually does him had an emergency and had to leave so some other groomer did him. She must have been a trainee because she hacked my poodle up. Also they tried to tell my daughter and son that our poodle was not a full poodle because he shed, well all dogs shed poodles just do it very little. I will let the pictures speak for themselves but he is so stressed now. Got a refund but thats not making us as poodle owners happy! Need a new groomer. read more

Call ahead and they will let you know how busy they are and when you should stop by, they gave me a 30 minute window on a Saturday, i showed when requested and was seen right away. I love my dogs main vet, but they are 20 miles away so If you need routine pet care, shots, dips, expressing, this is the place to go. $35 for gland express, great deal in my book. read more

This is a review for the grooming salon. I took my dog here last week for a bath. When I dropped him off, I let them know that he is blind and would need help getting around as he will slam into things, especially when he is worked up. My dog has been here before but gets anxious, which I think is pretty normal for most dogs at a grooming salon. Anyways, I dropped my dog off at 10:55 for his 11 o'clock appointment. They told me it would be about two hours. I went home and got a call at 1:30. They weren't able to complete the service because my dog was never able to settle down. I can absolutely understand that my dog was worked up and difficult to groom but isn't that their job? Even if he was too difficult to groom, why would you wait 2.5 hours to call me and ask me to pick him up? They said he was so worked up that they were concerned he would hurt himself. They obviously weren't that concerned because they let him freak out for 2.5 hours before calling me. Then when I go to get him, the girl walks him out on a loose leash so I get to watch my poor blind dog slamming into the grooming tables. The girl is completely oblivious. He's also soaking wet and not even brushed out. I was nearly in tears. If you care about your dog then please take him/her somewhere else. read more

I thought they did a pretty good job. I attempted to make another appointment a few months later & dealt with a nasty person on the phone. I ended up not being about to. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment. I got a very nice person who said Friday at 12:30. Great! Dropped them off & they said they'd call me. At around 330 I get a phone call from "Barbra". I expected they were ready but I was mistaken. She informed me my dog was so matted she would have to shave her extremely low. Now I'm very much aware her chest was a little matted but her entire body?! My husband brushed her 2 days ago so we knew that couldn't be true. She said she spent 45 minutes trying to brush her out. I asked if she had at least started on my other dog. She said no. So in 3 hours nothing has been accomplished. I told her to forget it I was picking them up. When I got there a woman asked me my name & "Barbra" who refused to look at me said to just get my dogs. Took them & left. My dog didn't even look like they touched her hair. & nothing about her was matted aside from her chest like I had said. It honestly felt like bc it was the weekend before Christmas they had a lot to do & she just didn't want to take her time & wanted to shave her hair off to be easy. No thanks. Thank you for wasting my time though. Won't be going back there again. Off to find another groomer. read more

First of all, other than over priced treats and food and birds trapped in cages, PetSmart doesn't offer much. I went there for homeopathic nose drops and they didn't carry it, colostrum and they didn't carry it and non of the staff knew what any of those things were so i had to figure it out for myself! But This review is for the groomer services. I went in about 6pm and was one of 3 people in the whole store , While I was there looking for what I needed, I noticed the dog groomer ripping the hair i this miniature poodles ear so hard the dog could barely stand. I decided to keep watching her as I am already so Leary of PetSmart groomers due to their horrible reputations for mistreating animals. She continued to savagely brush this poor things ears as it tried to get away sliding all over the table. Then she grabbed it's snout to clip its face and she was holding its nose and mouth shut, I could see its little belly expand and contract trying to breathe. I filed a complaint and then sat outside PetSmart in my car waiting for the owner and asking everyone going in if they were picking up theirs poodle.
