I have lived here for almost 10 yrs and you have a lot of the stories here that are so out of this world and incorrect, the hallways are cleaned daily, as for the dogs running around that on the dog owner not the property, as for packages being stolen, maybe the tenant should take the time to sign up for the lockers that are provided free of charge! As for the hollering at night.. well the complex is located on a main street with night clubs on the side street (Worthington st) and in front Student prince also does a lot of activities with out door concerts.. as for the homeless.. they are homeless not animals and when they hang around the property they are sent on their and security is around at night.. yes a Security guard makes rounds at night... So plz dont leave a review if your not gonna be honest with what you are stating.. read more

Leasing office will never answer your calls after you move in. I left a message over a week ago and have been calling continuously since with no response, so good luck in an urgent situation. The office itself is closed due to covid still for some reason. Maintenance requests take forever to be completed. The ground around the building is constantly covered in dog poop and garbage. Homeless people scream and shout at night. There are very few washers for the entire building and half of the time they are broken. One of the broken machines has been full of dirty water for weeks. Stairwells are disgusting. Have occasionally come across pets roaming the hallways. Do not move here. read more

first of all, I believe there are more people happy with the place but usually is harder for people happy with a place to live a review. on the other hand if you don't like something or you are angry at something/someone you are prone to leave a comment. I don't know about the past management property team but the current one is amazing. I've been living in here for 2 months already and right from the start they made sure my move in process was smooth as possible, every concern has been addressed. My rep was Genesis, and the team, all know each tenant and they make you feel welcome. Every building has a custodial person cleaning every day even during the weekend. If you need something fixed, in less than 24 hrs they make sure it's done. Trash room is cleaned every day as well. The management team work so hard because sometimes tenants are not cooperative and cordial. I believe if you move here and you care where you live this will be a great fit for you. I agreed with Trevor C when I first moved into SilverBrick Lofts it was great service in the property management office. I was given a tour of Building A and everyone seemed warm and welcoming. But, then as Sabrina K. and Aria S. state the office was extremely hard to get over the phone even in emergencies. Then, they would text message tenants frequently to tell them it was their fault that packages were being stolen from the mailroom. I lost hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise that I ordered. As Sabrina states, homeless people can roam freely not just in the courtyard but into the buildings themselves. I found urine in the back elevator left for days. There were mice and flies in our apartment unit. When I said we would move out a month in advance, I was charged by entire security deposit and asked for another $400. Took a tour here, Natalie was super awesome and responsive giving me a tour day of as well as giving me tips about Springfield and the apartment complex. She really went above and beyond, not to mention the grounds were very well-kept, and the complex has a lot to offer. The units are actually really good sizes as well as great pricing (going off of California prices and sizes, MA was very good for both and extras that are included.) read more

Silver brick has recently taken ownership over the past year and has put money into renovating the entire property. The renovations do look very nice I must say; and even without them the apartments are beautiful with the high ceilings, wood beams and in some apartments, the exposed brick. THE WALLS ARE THIN AS PAPER! You will definitely hear each other's conversations and sex, so hope you're not shy. Since I've lived here, one of the things I've always disliked is the people who don't live here leaving things in the door to keep it open since it locks so they can come in and out. I always remove them if I see the door open. Maintenance is ok, give them about two days for non emergency calls. The rent is expensive for downtown springfield living in my opinion. $975-$1100 for a one bedroom? $1200-$1500 for a two? and doesn't include parking. Overall the apartments are nice. There are some local businesses around... The few that are left; including restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment. Good luck. read more

Believe the negative reviews here. The positive ones are lies. Lifelong Springfield resident and I felt so unwelcome from day one. Local non profit executive and UMass graduate, I moved to silverbrick because of it's location to school and work for me. I was told as an educator in Springfield I qualified for a 20% discount on rent which I never received and was told there are currently "no specials". I've lived in Silverbrick for 3 years. Poor management, poor maintenance and no regard for its tenants. I was 'bait and switched' apartments after I had given a non refundable deposit. I was shown a great apartment that they "accidentally" already leased to someone but they had another in a less desirable side of the building for the same price. The rent is very high, the apartment is very cheap, no parking for you or your guests or visitors. You will need to pay for a 1 hour max street or $20 a day garage. Don't even get me started with the meter maids. My car was booted and towed from a private garage because of $80 dollars of on street parking tickets. Homeless man uses the courtyard as a toilet for the last 2 years, at night homeless sit on the 1st floor apartment stoops and drink while you sleep. Spotty elevator, the garbage rooms are right in your floor lobby entrances so your floor always smells terrible for guests. Washing machines take your money and no refunds issued. Washers smell like rotten water and the dryers don't dry. $2 bucks each. The walls are paper thin, you can hear people talk normally in their apartments. My neighbor had a full sized Rottweiler with canine separation anxiety, their living room was adjacent to my bedroom and the dog barked whenever they weren't home. I tried to talk to the neighbor who was rude and the office did nothing. I called animal control myself and silver brick only did something when they were hit with a $50 fine for the nuisance animal. The apartments are made with cheap materials that look good but fall apart almost immediately, including toilet paper dispenser, electrical fixtures and wall outlets sinks, cabinetry, appliances, all low end trash, the window counter weights (windows weight almost 100 lbs, honestly). Days at a time, multiple times a year without heat or hot water in the winter, no notice. THE WORST of all are the ceiling fans/light. In each apartment they run on the same remote signal, so your living room light tuns on and off when the neighbors hit their switch, its a nightmare I don't even use the light anymore. In all the time I've lived here I have only ever complained about the dog, I never put in maintenance requests or made trouble for my neighbors. In May of 2018 I lost my job and fell behind on my rent, I was taken to court and they tried to evict me. This is the first time in my 45 years of age have ever been behind on my rent, the courts gave me a payment plan in November for which I did not miss a single payment. I came home today to find a non renewal notice taped to my front door, my lease ends in April. I am upset that I was treated so poorly in a place I called home. Management has not spoken to me once about issues or complaints, I am a quiet respectful tenant and this is how I was treated. Silverbrick only care about your rent payment and nothing more so spare yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. Location is great though! read more

I called the office and spoke to Dashanique, and clearly she was having a bad day. Single professional with stable income sought convenient apartment close to work. Lived there for two years. I should have trusted my gut on this one, would strongly recommend against renting. - Windows without screens, no seal, broken counterbalances. I was promised replacement, never happened. - roof leaked twice, both times flooding my apartment and damaging personal belongings. (Not covered by their insurance) -- Leak #1: mismanaged. They disposed of damaged personal articles without my permission, making impossible to file with my rental insurance. I went all the way up to corporate for meager replacement and no apology. -- Leak #2: led to a week out of my apartment in mid-winter. Initially said it was because of poor maintenance, but backtracked on that statement. Cost me $500 deductible via rental insurance. - Smokers in stairwells - On Weeknights you can hear the local clubs - Homeless in the courtyard - Street noise at all hours - Front staff nice but high turnover and inconsistent policies - Upon leaving, despite speaking with them before hand, could not do a walk through with someone privileged to discuss my security deposit, so could not discuss any possible deductions/cleaning fees. tl;dr: High cost "luxury" sheen covering poorly maintained facility with flaky management who make promises they could not keep. read more

I've lived here since 10/2014. The location is great but management is poor. The elevator in my building has not worked consistently since May and has not worked at all since mid-August. Management makes excuses but takes no responsibility. They are supposed to be doing remodeling but all I see is raised rents. When my heat failed in January, it took them 6 weeks to find that one valve needed to be opened. Find someplace else to live. read more

This place is a joke. On the inside the "remodel" is cheaply done with electrical fixtures questionably lose and appliances that all seem to be problematic. The walls are paper thin here and there is no form of sound dampening so you can hear EVERYTHING. The laundry facilities are a joke as well. They are owned by an "outside service" but the phone number is no longer operational. When you ask the staff about issues with the laundry they simply tell you to call the number. This is a problem as there is always a problem with the laundry machines. The dryers only work half of the time and both the washer and dryer will malfunction and take the money off you prepaid card without any service in return. Outside there is a court yard, in which dog owners walk there dogs and many do not clean up after them. This has lead to dog poop being everywhere including on the steps leading down the court yard and on the walk ways by that part of the complex. They then put in a "dog run" which is small and so poorly maintained that is smells of dog pee and feces. Please do your self a favor and live else where. You will regret your decision to live here. Also the police are here on a regular basis due to residents who are excessively loud and un-neighborly. Sliverbrick dose nothing to attempt to remove these problematic people from the property even though they know that they are disrespectful, it seem they only cares about the money and not about the safety and comfort of their residents. read more

I have been planning a move across the country since the beginning of spring, moving from California to Springfield for school. I have been doing my best to take care of everything over the phone and via email since my boyfriend and I are unable to travel and visit before the move. I contacted Silverbrick in mid May and spoke to Pricilla. She was very nice and told me the units available and a few details of each such as square footage price etc. She said I could email her with any questions. I spoke to my boyfriend shortly after and emailed her right back that day with a few questions on two of the options she had given us. We were ready to move forward. I never received a response. I waited a few days and sent another email and still nothing. So I followed up a week later with a phone call. A lady named Karen answered, I asked for Pricilla and she said she was out of the office, it was her day off and she would be in tomorrow. I said that's fine and asked if she could please have her call me once she is in. I wait a few days and still no call back. So finally I called back, another lady answers, I don't recall her name, and I asked if Pricilla was in she said she was on vacation. I was starting to feel extremely frustrated! A few weeks later I was finally able to get in contact with the ONLY helpful person there Pricilla. She apologized for all of the mix up, and explained they are under renovation. She sent me pictures of a few of the apartments that were available. I thought that was very kind of her, she knew we were unable to see them in person. We told her which one we like the best and we each submitted an application online, along with proof of income, ID ect. I also included my loan award letter from school. Pricilla calls me back, and asked for proof of income in Massachusetts. I told her Clearly, WE DON'T LIVE IN Massachusetts yet, so WE DON'T have income there yet. While Pricilla was really sweet I had to explain to her (several times) I was a student and I was not working which is why I included my loan award letter. I did mention that my BF was getting a job transfer, and had a few interviews lined up. I told her I understood it was a unique situation, but that I do have a cosigner available if needed and was willing to pay several months rent up front of needed and include bank statements. The property manager was supposed to give me a call back and has yet to do so. Their mission statement clearly state they are trying to target a younger crowd, such as student and young professional yet, however they are just unreasonable. We are so disappointed with Silverbricklofts. They are so unorganized. No one ever once knew what was going on when I called. I would never get my phones calls returned. Every time I called I had to start all over as if they had no idea what was going on or who I was. It was completely horrible. I really had my heart set on this being our new home but, I am so glad it didn't work out. I couldn't imagine having to work with them when something within my unit went wrong or any other issue that may arise. With all due respect honestly, they same like a bunch of space cadets. No thank you, we will gladly take out business elsewhere! read more
