Four stars for consistent quality of food. My girlfriend and I have frequently had Silverado for lunch or dinner and every time it does not fail. As far as entrees go I have had their Prime Rib, fajitas, steak, ribs and fish specials. Between my girlfriend, her family and I we have had our fair share of Silverados menu and everything is excellent considering that it part of the Great American restaurant chain. Once you sit down you get a choice of the complimentary bread or chips with salsa. Definitely go for the bread, specifically the Aussie rolls!! Those rolls go great with the butter. I am not usually a bread type of guy, but I can probably eat plenty of these. After trying all the dishes mentioned above, it is a tough call to decide which one I like the best but I would have to say the fajitas. The steak fajitas come with a good amount of rice, beans, meat, peppers and toppings for me to customize it to my liking. This is pretty filling but be sure to save room for dessert. I LOVE THE FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE WAFFLE. Usually I do not order dessert at restaurants, due to the fact I am usually full by the time I am done with my entree but this restaurant is an exception. I have to have that dessert every time I go to Silverado for me to be fully satisfied. I would definitely recommend this place. Hate to rate on of my usual spots Went to this Restaurant and order over $111.00 worth of food I order the food for carry out food was okay far as taste on one of my orders I order the baby back ribs and it supposed to be fries and coleslaw I did not receive the fries but coleslaw my son was disappointed because he did not get his fries so I called the Manager and she ask me was I near I responded no I was home so on one of my order s I had 2 asparagus witch was over cooked Manager wanted to Reimburse me four dollars off of the asparagus because I did not receive fries so I said OK that's fine but this has happened three times at this location and I would think they would start getting these orders right since you pay good Money for food . read more

Another "Great American Restaurant" restaurant. Silverado does just what every other GAR does: Provide great food at a reasonable price with good service and a good atmosphere. My only disappointment was they weren't serving Jumbalaya Pasta (Sunday evening only) when I last went. Instead I had "Bubble & Squeak", an interesting brunch time take on fried chicken and poached eggs. It was... interesting. Certainly good enough that I scarfed the whole thing down, but I'm not sure I'd get it again. Just not to my taste but, again, that didn't have anything to do with the quality of the meal. Of all the GAR's in the DC metro, I landed here on Saturday night. Probably because it was closer than Mike's, Artie's, or Coastal Flats. I was also craving those darn ozzy rolls, so I was on a mission. The chicken fajitas were pretty good. I was more pressed with the flavor of the beans and rice that accompanied the dish. Service wasn't stellar, but then again, I was seated in the bar area and my server was clearly struggling with maintaining bar patrons and those of us sitting at the outer surrounding tables. After I heard that Silverado was a chain restaurant related to Mike's American Grill, I just HAD to try this place out. This place doesn't look popular on the outside but once you get in it's busy as heck, so as any other busy restaurant, I suggest you make a reservation especially if you go on a weekend. Waiting without a reservation might not be too bad if you get there at an earlier time, but still. Better safe than sorry! The service here was as expected, really friendly just as it is at Mike's and attentive. I somehow feel though that the service at Mike's is just a bit more friendly and attentive. The house bread and chips and salsa are both good, take your pick. The bread is pretty much the same as Mike's, considering that they're in the same family. We got fire cracker shrimp for an appetizer. It was pretty expensive, as most of the items in this restaurant are for just a measly amount of shrimp. Still good though. My dad ordered the prime rib and my mom ordered the salmon for their entrees. I got chicken fajitas which were AH-MAZING. The meat comes out sizzling on a bed of sauteed onions on a hot plate along with your other fillers/condiments (rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, a little lettuce, tortillas). For you people out there not familiar with fajitas, you assemble it yourself which is fun. My dad's prime rib was just as good as it was at Mike's and my mom's salmon entree was really delicious too. I'm not quite sure why I'm rating Silverado four stars rather than five like I did with Mike's. I just feel like I usually have perfect experiences at Mike's and something was just a little off here. I haven't been to Silverado in 5 years. The servers were great--very attentive. My son loved the fajitas. He got a big portion and felt they were flavorful. The salmon in my salad and my husband's steak were a bit undercooked, but both dishes were tasty overall. We liked the dollar bread basket, but the price of the steak seemed high. We had a gift card to pay for part of our meal, but I'm not sure we'd go back if we didn't have one. read more

Silverado is the best American restaurant in Annandale so they deserve the praise. I judge restaurants by the quality of their bread and the height of their waiters/waitresses. I prefer shorter servers so that I don't feel like I am being looked down upon while ordering my food, so great height overall and the bread was crack. Nothing special good old TexMex outdated menu with average in all aspects. If you miss 80/90's style reminiscent, perhaps maybe~ they have average ipa selections which is not easy to find in old neighborhoods of Annandale. Go with your grandpa or grandma, they will love this place. For me, I am too hip to walk in to this place. :) staffs seem tired all the time and tend to lose their smile. Don't expect to feel home. This is my all time favorite restaurant - one of those places where everything on the menu is great. I grew up in Annandale and still come back just for dinner here. My favorite meal is the filet tips with tequila lime pasta - not on the menu but a special some nights. They run out of it so be sure to order early! The bread is fantastic. Went here today with a co-worker and I must say that this place exceeded my expectations. We were seated almost as soon as we walked in. There were quite a few people there for lunch which was a good sign. Our waitress came to take our drink order the moment we were seated and brought out a complimentary, assorted bread basket. The bread was fresh and hot! She also brought out complimentary chips and salsa, which was also pretty delicious. I couldn't decide which salad to order because my co-worker said that they are ALL good. The waitress helped me out a lot by informing me that I could customize my salad. I settled on the Monterey chicken salad but substituted the fried chicken for the Cajun chicken. I decided not to get the avocado, but got blue cheese added instead. I substituted the dressing it came with for the champagne vinaigrette. The salad was just outright DELICIOUS. The spicy pecans gave it a little bite while the cranberries gave it a hint of sweetness. The dressing was tangy and the tortilla chips gave it a nice bit of crunch. A perfect combination!!! Bottom line...I recommend trying this place out if you are ever nearby. This review is for to-go only. We travel about 20 minutes to reach the restaurant, each way. First time: picked up food 1/2 hour late and it was cold soggy and gross. It was my own fault. But lesser restaurants manage to incubate food while it waits. Second time: ordered filet medium well and asked for no mushrooms due to allergy. Steak came out well done and ruined and with more mushrooms than we've ever seen. Did contact manager and she refunded the 30 dollars for the steak (in the form of a gift card), and she was kind. I did think the proper thing to do for this instance would have been to refund the whole tab (45 including tip) but hey, whatever. 30 doesnt even include tax on the steak and the whole meal was shot. Third time: ordered filet medium and asked for no mushrooms nor gravy due to allergy. Filet came cooked perfectly but smothered in gravy and mushrooms, even all over the baked potato so once again we could not eat our entire entree. Ordered chop house salad on romaine instead like they used to make it and it came not chopped. My final thought is stick to Mike's, this was close enough for awhile but we are over it. We did not call about it this time bc enough is enough, it's a big and expensive trip to make and has let us down more than its worth. Definitely eat in instead if you can and if you get to-go and have an allergy- you'll have to check it manually and shine a flash light in on it and then be prepared to wait another 20 minutes if you want that part of your meal still. 3 stars because they have great quality food and they are very kind, and because I know if I did want to call them, they would make an attempt to make it right - its just not worth it. read more

4.5 stars Came here for my birthday with some family. I've been to Mike's American Grill so I kinda has high expectations for this place since they're part of the same family. Of course, I just had to have some of those complementary fried bread rolls (that's what I was looking forward to the most). I ordered the chicken fajitas, which came out sizzling hot on a pile of onions with sides like guac, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and beans. The dish was amazing; the chicken was nicely seasoned and so moist. The only disappointment was probably the lack of bell peppers, which are a must for my fajitas. I tasted a bit of the crab cake and mashed potatoes my family ordered and they were just as great. For dessert, I got the bread pudding and my cousin got their special at the time: pumpkin spice cake. Both were served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream. For mine, they wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate which was nice. Overall a very good experience. read more

Because of Covid (and remote learning), we try to go on a late lunch/ early dinner date with our 9 year old once a week-ish. The timing makes it so a restaurant is usually fairly empty and we feel safer bringing her out. We *are* a difficult table. I have a severe egg allergy and avoid gluten, my husband only likes meat and potatoes and our daughter is a chicken tenders and fries with lemonade kind of gal. It makes choosing a restaurant for all of our needs difficult. We have had the most luck for all of our restrictions and preferences with GAR restaurants but we are also both long time industry folk, so great service is super important. When I recommended Silverado for today's date, my husband was hesitant but we shouldn't have worried. Luis was splendid. It takes a true professional to master the hesitating walk-by for leisurely diners and we appreciated it so much. Engagement with our daughter is a must and she even asked if he could be our server every time we go back, because he talked to her and made her feel like a grown up. Never doubt the power of talking to the children. They are (or should be) the most important people at a table and should be treated as such. Food is always great at GAR restaurants and allergy protocols are strictly followed. I will only need an epi pen if I have runny yolk eggs but any cross contamination will cause hours of pain and discomfort so the attention to detail is welcome. Even allowing someone to order something off the dinner menu for lunch. Went there recently with kids and it was a hit. One loved getting the salmon while another thought it was just the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. Chicken tenders are delish as is the fajitas. I have lived in Alexandria and Annandale all my life. I have been to this establishment probably 100 times now. As I travel the world I am always comparing the dishes to Silverado. It is so consistent and you always leave satisfied. The fajitas are second to none (trust me, I can't find anything better). The chicken fingers are second to none. The crab cakes are second to none. Those have to be the three staples. The brunch is solid. The Silverado's margarita is top notch. Service has dipped over the years, but where hasn't it? I've been to several of the "Great American Restaurants" and though the food at Silverado didn't disappoint, I can't rate it as high as the others do to its decor. Knowing that the GAR restaurants tend to carry a long wait, we were in luck to find out that Silverado, which is a bit of an out of the way location, had the shortest wait times out of the group and we could be seated in about an hour and a half on a Saturday evening. Good thing we called ahead (highly recommended) We arrived, and after giving a password, were seated fairly quickly (we were able to purchase a beer at the bar, but only had a few sips). Beer selection is decent for a standard restaurant, with a couple of the drafts being GAR's own line brewed by Domnion. Once seated, we had a very chipper server, who reminded me of the server covered in flare in Office Space (though our server didn't have any flare, only a candy striper shirt on). He performed well, and all of the wait staff join in, so that your food is delivered on time, even had a manager come by to help pick up the check. They start you off with a chips and salsa, which would rival some of the mexican restaurants I have been to. The salsa had just the right amount of liquid, and had a nice strong hint of cilantro present with every bite. We then ordered the fried calamari and southwest rolls. The calamari is actually mixed with some fried onion (bloomin' onion style) and the sauce. It would be nicer if the sauce was separate, as there isn't enough of this south west treat, and its hard to sop up from the plate. The rolls were decent, though not much to them, little bit of corn and black bean, but seemed to deflate when picked up. Since we were going to a GAR restaurant, I knew before hand that I was going to have the ribs. Ribs to me can be a hit or miss for most restaurants, which is why I tend to stay away from ordering them. They were good at SweetWater Tavern, so I knew ahead of time that they should be cooked correctly here. Glad to see the recipe and cooking instructions are the same. The meat falls right off of the bones. You could eat these with a knife and fork, but then, you wouldn't have the pleasure of licking off the BBQ sauce from your fingers later on. The fries are more shoe string type, which I'm not a big fan of, but good none the less. The cole slaw is also a nice compliment to the dish, had a nice liquid consistancy and the right kick, though no carrots. Both of the sides are only temporary distractions however as your brain never truly strays away from the ribs. The biggest disappointment is when you see that all you have left is a nice neat stack of bones on your plate, and no more meat. Now, why only 3 stars if the food and service were good? Mainly because of the atmosphere. This place is part of a strip mall, and oddly enough, there are very low ceilings in here. In addition, there are decorations on the ceilings, making them appear even lower. Because of that, and the amount of ample decor (not done poorly, just a lot of it), it feels very crowded and closed in. We sat at a 5 top, and we felt a bit crammed with the other tables and customers. Its also dark, which doesn't really help. The mirrors may trick you at first glance, but this place is definitely not big. If you are looking for a GAR experience, not wanting a long wait, and don't mind feeling like you are in cave, then you are good to go. read more

I've been going to Silverado for many years and this evening the manager Kelsey was not only sassy with her tone, but did not want to help me with an order over the phone. I explained to her that the item I wanted was not available to order online but was available if I came into dine, she still was unwilling to help me by just simply placing the order for me over the phone instead insisted that I drive there then order at the bar and wait. So I called Carlyle and they not only let me place the order over the phone, but was kind to me. The customer service I received from the manager at Silverado was unacceptable and ridiculous. I stopped here while in the area for work. This is a pretty cool Tex/Mex place. The decor is neat, special lights and woven Indian rugs. Service was very prompt and the server was knowledgeable and friendly. They had a gluten. Free menu they gave me at lunch and I did not even have to ask. Most of their sandwiches can be served "naked" for gluten free folks. I for the pulled pork bbq sandwich. It was delicious! I don't even like coleslaw but theirs was so good I ate every bite of it. The only thing I didn't like was the back of the booth was a large mirror. Not a huge fan of watching myself eat every bite of that delicious lunch. Would definitely return. read more

This place had the best brunch menu! Everything that I ate here tasted delicious and very memorable. They gave us the choice of tortilla chips and bread. The bread is a must try. It is a sweet bread that is covered with sugar and cinnamon. It's not too sweet though. It's just perfect and it comes with a sweet butter that makes the bread so irresistible! I got the pan fried chicken on biscuits with a gravy. It came with a side of potatoes. First of all, the chicken was definitely not pan fried, but deep fried. But it made it taste even better! The chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly. It went on top of a moist buttery biscuit that was smothered in a gravy. The potatoes that came on the side were crispy and was the perfect side for my meal. I also tried the french toast, which tastes so unique because the bread that they make the french toast with is thick and had cinnamon inside of it. It came with a delicious fruit reduction. Their mimosas were good, but way over priced. They gave a small amount for the price. It had pulps from oranges in it though, so you know it's fresh! Their service was okay. We are regulars here, it's closer to our house than Sweetwater or Costal Flats. Love their usual items that are on all the other restaurants menus too. Also you have a choice of chips and salsa or Ozzie rolls to start your meal, but you can have BOTH if you want! Silverado has truly some of the best fajitas in town. I always get the steak and portobello mushroom combo. The portobello is beyond awesome. They only offer prime rib on Thursday-Saturday and you better get there early as they run out usually by 8! I took my friend here for her birthday (well, she drove, but I treated), as it is one of her favorite restaurants. On the outside, and for all appearances, it is a by-the-numbers restaurant that serves a variety of different options. However, they serve what is possibly one of the top five burgers I've ever had. Seriously, I have dreams about this thing. They also have these really delicious sweet rolls with a sweet butter. I could have eaten these all day, keto be damned. I'll definitely be back. I had the Hickory BBQ burger here and it's fantastic! Medium-rare cooking was on point. Their Silverado pale ale is pretty good too. The servers are very nice and attentive. I have never been disappointed by this restaurant. Once when my daughter was sick and they didn't do take out but my daughter just had to have their lobster bisque. They took pity, packed me up two bowls and stuck a note in telling her to feel better. Always nice touches like that. Only small drawback is if you have a child with sensory issues it can be a little loud. Just a design of the rooms. My cousin and I were waiting for his departure time for amtrack, so we decided to stop here and share a burger and a quick beer. This one's atmosphere was more cowboy-ish, menu looked almost the same as Sweetwater. We ordered the bbq burger and the eggrolls and they were absolutely delicious! Burger buns are usually too big for my taste, so I had my top off (lol), and it was still very filling. I loved the sauce for the eggrolls too. Came here for HH with a few coworkers and I was shocked by a few things. First- the guacamole has actual chunks of guac in it. Like big delicious avocado that you can see for a great price.
