I absolutely love this place! S/o to Peter and the Wong family for taking care of all my cars. Family owned and family trusted you can't go wrong taking your cars here. Been coming here for almost 8yrs now and I've brought every single car I own, my family owns, and have referred a number of my friends. Repair shops can all look the same but the service is where these folks stand out! They can handle pretty much any car you can throw at them. My VW, Mazda, and Nissans all go here. They've serviced my cars including a car wash, replaced tires, brakes and have done several special car modifications for friends cars. There's very little this team can't handle. Call and ask for Peter. He'll take care of you, set you up with all you need, get your repairs done, and have your car back in awesome condition, on time every time. Most of the time you hope a repair shop does a decent job and hope you don't have to come back for something that went wrong with the repairs, but here you can trust that they'll fix your problem and you won't be going back for the same repair EVER! Been going here for over 7 years for basic service on several cars. This is not a dealer where they give you a car rental and wash your car. Got quoted for a oil housing unit and valve cover replacement for a 2015 BMW 335i at almost $4k. Got a hold of a few old friends, and said, "stay clear of this place." Got the same job done for $2500, which included a cash wash and a full tank of gas. I could of possibilty got the job done for $2K if I looked hard enough. Be careful on big jobs here, be sure to shop around, look online or call a buddy on pricing. read more

These guys are amazing! Specifically, I want to give many thanks to Peter who has been so understanding and kind! I messed up my tires (the curb hit me‍ right?! :P ) and I ordered tires through tirerack. This repair shop was the installer and they in were very flexible when it came to coming in. The wait was not long and the install was under 30 minutes! It was $25 to install the tire for my Audi. A bit on the steep side because I at Costco, it was $15. Costco did not carry Pirelli tires so I had no choice but to go through an installer. I would call and ask for the rough price estimate before coming in. Going to note that I came back after a few days because of the tire pressure was off. Turns out that they forgot to reset the system in the car. Peter got that down for me and he explained the ins and outs of the tire pressure! 5/5 for customer service! read more

I came here today for the first time to get an oil change for my 2009 Scion tC. I called before to ask about the prices and it seemed very reasonable ($38.66) for regular oil change. I spoke with peter and he was very helpful and nice over the phone and in person. Great customer service and I was in and out of the shop less than 30 minutes! What a SCAM. I deliberately called them to check rates many times when my car needed service to see how they compared with my long-time trusty, ASCE-certified mechanic. Mind you, I have a high-end car and know that many unscrupulous shops would charge more for the same services than they would on a regular Toyota or Honda. Unsurprisingly, their quotes were consistently 40%-50% higher. However, this last time that they quoted me for a tensioner/belt/pulley job was 150% higher than my mechanic and several places that I called, and that prompted me to write this scathing review. We will see if Yelp removes this post as they, too, have been accused of unscrupulous business practices of offering businesses removal of bad reviews for a fee. read more

Rip off... Over charged parts I came here asking for a quote because a smog station recommended this place due to the fact they specialize in European cars. After hearing the quote I was drained because of the expensive price for fixing parts I have requested. But I went to two other mechanics on Garvey with 4.5 star reviews on yelp to find out the difference in the quotes, and it was 50% cheaper than the quote silver star has charged. I definitely recommend you do your research on yelp to make sure you save your money. read more

Have taken both of our families cars in for oil changes. In and out within an hour. Peter is really friendly and honest about what was needed. He saw some small clamps were missing on the underside of my car and went out of his way to replace them for me. Would recommend calling ahead to schedule a time to come in because it can get busy, but even if the lot looks full, stop in (there are a bunch of old cars out front). This is a family owned place with a couple of employees, so I didn't feel like I was being upsold on anything. Highly recommend and will be back. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been coming to SSS since early 2000s when my manufacturer's warranty expired on my 3 series. Then after my manufacturer's warranty expired in my X5. Mind you, I live about 40-60 miles away in Orange County as I've moved around quite a bit. But I always come back to SSS because of the service, prices, and availability. The techs there are knowledgeable and honest. I don't get a hard sell on each visit. In fact, they are honest how long I can go without getting X done or before Y needs replacing. That's extremely valuable so you don't get price gouged on items that are an immediate issue so it's easier on the wallet. The prices are way lower than the dealership. Parts, labor, options, etc. They can order any factory part you need or if you prefer to go a different route, you can get a quote from any of the local vendors they have a long standing relationship with because they've been in the biz for awhile now. Although I'd love to take a day off during the week, it's awesome they are open every second Saturday each month for times you just can't step away midweek. The location is central so you can take a short walk to any of the yummy food options in the area while you wait for your car to get worked on. I love having an excuse to cruise up to Monterey Park for some legit Asian food while I get my car worked on at a fraction of the cost as opposed to a franchise dealership. SSS does get busy on the weekends so arrive early if you plan on picking up your car same day. read more

This place is such a rip off. Went to the store a week ago to fix my broken water pose. They initially charged me $270 without repairing my car accordingly or check their work afterwards. After I picked up my car and drove for less than a mile, smoke emerged from the front. Their technitians refused to check my vehicle and demanded another $170 payment to take care of the issue. I have to pay them again in order to have the issue fix asap. And today, the water is leaking AGAIN. Now they had a courage to ask for another $300 to fix the issue they failed to resolve TWICE. We have filed a complain to Better Business Bureau and will get their respond soon. If you ever want to pay a visit to the store, I definitely recommend you to do some research ahead to avoid unnecessary waste of time and money. read more

They don't up sell me on things I don't need, in fact there has been several occasions that they've told me I could wait on getting extra work done. I have 2 cars, a Prius and a BMW and I've been 100% satisfied with the work they did on my cars. They are more than reasonable with their pricing, and they are very honest and kind people. I live in Orange County, and Silver Star is about a 20 mile drive for me...they are completely worth the drive. They are honest, they do an excellent job and I don't mind driving a little further to get work done with good people.
