    Day we picked him up

We have taken our dog to SRR 6 or 7 times and everything was good until the last two experiences. . We had him there for 3 nights and the dog was torn up around his head and neck. The handler tried to put him in our car with blood all over his head before I stopped him. Tina's favorite line is "dog's will be dogs" but our dog was neglected for 3 days. We do have a big strong dog that loves to play but also knows when to shut it down. They handed us his collar that had been chewed in two. I still can't figure out how a dog chews through his our collar when it is tight on his neck? The handlers do not have the same compassion for the dogs as Tina does and they are the ones that actually take of them. Again, we have been happy until the last 2 visit's, something has changed...

Love the setting and the people! Very welcoming down to earth owners who treat the dogs and clients with common sense and respect. Almost a year ago I walked onto the property, without a scheduled appointment, and was greeted with warmth and kindness. Know that the owners live in the ranch so it's not just a business. Still I felt very welcome. I was in need of training for my Border Collie pup. Tina, the owner, right then and there had a long chat with while assessing my dog. She gave me a tons of pointers, advice, and a refreshing layback attitude. So many trainers find so many faults you feel desperate to take their classes. That was not the case here. Tina assured me my dog was JUST a rambunctious pup and not the crazed violent savage others had told me he was. We talked for almost 2 hours and she gave me sound pointers, advice (opinion) and put me at ease. Right then I started doggie day care. My dog loved it! He came home tired and loved going to "the ranch". In day care there was no "training" but they play with other dogs and learned socialization. Months later I started agility and it is so much fun! Tina is a great trainer! She herself has prize dogs so she knows what she is doing. They have all the equipment and she gets those dogs climbing right away. Although, it's more about training handlers because the dogs just seem to know what to do with positive reinforcement and a hot dog!! My class is great! We laugh and learn with and from each other. Be aware that your dog must have some discipline, good recall, be able be off leash (for agility) and needs to be friendly with other dogs. It's sad when people are asked to leave because they can not control their animal. Since then we have started barn hunting with Marie and dock diving Ian. Both are supper fun but the scheduling times are tight and seasonal. Still we enjoy them when whenever we can get on that schedule. The Ranch is beautiful and relaxing. Most days we are there we end our visit with a stroll around the barns, other dogs and activities, sheep, goats, and chickens. I would highly recommend any of their services. I hope to be here for a long while.

Now that I have more time I wanted to finish Bella's training. I reached out to bark busters because Bella had a lot of anxiety and would have non stop barking issues. We have a new baby in the house so all the barking was no fun! I'm telling you, no joke after the first visit with our trainer Justine, I felt as if Bella was a whole new dog! She gives such great advice on how to properly train your dog without food incentives and shock collars! I was so amazed that I started telling a lot of my friends about it! I just finished my second session with Justine today and she was giving me tips and tricks on how to walk Bella without her pulling. By the end of the session I was walking Bella and Bella wasn't walking me! Justine truly cares for me and Bella and is very thoughtful on modifying things that help me the best! It's definitely worth the investment. I couldn't be any more happy and I would definitely recommend Bark Busters, especially with Justine, to everyone and anyone! Enjoy a picture of Bella after our training session today!

Since then, we have done our best to train her (even hired a dog training company) and while she's been amazing to us, there have been some incidents. We tried to correct her behavior but we had to go beyond just correcting a behavior, we had to know the why. We needed a dog behaviorist. Enter Bark Busters and Justine! From the very first phone conversation with Justine, she told us about a dog's personality (the who) vs. a dog's behavior (the why). Was our dog just naturally an aggressive dog or was our dog showing aggression due to past trauma. After the initial phone call then came the in person assessment in our home, Justine knew our dog's personality was sweet and loving to us; however, due to her being a rescue, her past experiences led to trauma that led to aggressive behaviors towards others in certain situations. Moreover, during that first assessment, she educated us things we had no idea about or thought about with dogs as pets plus what we need to be and do as owners. Justine was and is exactly what we were looking for in understanding our dog and from there building the right relationship with our dog that will keep her and others safe. The business model and curriculum that Bark Busters and Justine have put in place is one of a kind and works from day 1. We have always wanted what is best for our dog and to give her the best life possible, especially because she is a rescue and her breed. Bark Busters and Justine continues to give us the tools in place to build the confidence and trust we have as owners in our dog and our dog has in us as owners. We are forever grateful to Justine and will recommend her and Bark Busters to anyone!

The entire team was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. At the start of boarding, Darcey was able to pinpoint the key areas that needed work. Throughout the training process, we received regular updates, including informative notes, photos, and videos that showed just how much progress our pup was making. It gave us so much confidence and peace of mind knowing he was in such great hands. The information shared also helped to prepare us on his return, specifically the steps we needed to take to enforce his training. On pickup day, Elias took the time to walk us through all the commands and detail best practices moving forward. His attention to detail, depth of knowledge, and ability to clearly communicate everything really stood out not just to us, but even to outsiders observing the session. Everyone was genuinely impressed! The transformation in our pup has been amazing--he's noticeably calmer, more attentive, and much better at listening. This is a level of progress we couldn't have achieved on our own. We're so grateful to Darcey and her team and we would not hesitate to work with them again. I had previously tried Board and Train programs at Sit Means Sit twice, but they didn't help with KB's anxiety at all. Tony was a completely different experience. What sets Tony apart is how thorough he is. He didn't just give commands; he constantly explained the "why" behind KB's behaviors. He was also incredibly supportive of me, helping me work through my own fears and nervousness. Because of his guidance, I can now actually play box with KB without the fear that he'll suddenly react toward me. We covered so much ground, including: * Command & Muzzle Work: Building a foundation of safety and communication. * Boundaries: KB used to be glued to my side whenever I answered the door. Now, he can stay calmly on the couch while I greet someone, and he stays indoors even when I go through the patio door. * Safety & Care: Tony was always so accommodating with scheduling. If it was too hot for an outdoor session, he would proactively suggest changing it for KB's safety. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed with your dog's behavior, go to Tony. A week later, we received our Golden Retriever, Cosmo, and he had even fewer results. He could only sit, didn't respond to basic commands, and came home with a skin infection that required veterinary care. He was low energy, skipping meals, and clearly not himself. Even more concerning, our dogs -- who were never aggressive or reactive before -- did not get along after returning home and showed new behavioral issues. When we brought these concerns up, Eddie blamed us instead of taking responsibility. We've since had Cosmo evaluated by professionals and vets who believe he was mistreated. He now flinches during training, lacks motivation, and isn't the happy dog he used to be. I have asked for a refund and have received no response.
