    Nixon's 1st day of training
    Rachel V.

We are incredibly grateful for the dog training services provided by Eddie. His dedication and expertise have made a remarkable difference in Nixon's behavior. From the moment we picked Nixon up from his 2 week board and train, we could see a positive change in his recall and command responses. Eddie showed genuine care and patience throughout the process, always taking the time to understand my dog's unique needs. His positive reinforcement techniques have not only transformed my dog's obedience but also strengthened our bond. The progress we've made together has been truly remarkable, and we cannot thank Eddie enough for his guidance and support. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate dog behaviorist. We are forever thankful for Eddie's help in creating a well-behaved and happy pup. Also, thank you Eddie for all the tools you provided so that we can maintain Nixon's training with him!

I was a little skeptical in the beginning having had a poor experience in the past but Eddie is the real deal no bs! My son's Bill Terrier x was aggressive due to being a bigger dog and not trained. After an incident we decided she needed professional training. Eddie recommend his 6-week intensive course. We got her back today and wow, what a change! Eddie's understanding of dog behaviors is insightful and works! During the 6 weeks he had her he gave her basic structure, simple commands and peace. She's so calm now it's amazing! We're already seeing a different dog. Thank you Eddie. Advice: don't go and visit your dog until Eddie is done. It'll set them back in his process. Let him complete his magic, then see your dog.

I found Eddie in Yelp. It's been about 4 weeks since our training session. My two male dogs were fighting recently due to territorial and bad parenting . Eddie told use the ugly truth are dogs were spoiled and not trained. He gave us the tools to train our dogs with the collars , crate training and with guidance . I can't say they are 100 percent train but we are close. They are starting to see each other and walk together which was something I was not able to do a few weeks ago. They understand that their bed is now their crate and they actually like it . New tricks were learn and it's very nice to be able to come home a see a process to a reunited family . Update : dogs are doing great . Getting along much better . He has answer all my questions and concerns. Thank u so much !

Pt. 2 of our Aussie after his board & train 1/30/22. Our vet was horrified that this much weight loss happened in 4 weeks.

READ THROUGH BEFORE DEPOSITING MONEY WITH EDDIE. DO NOT DEPOSIT MONEY OR TRUST A DOG TRAINER WHO DOES NOT BELIEVE THEIR HEALTH IS IMPORTANT TO THE TRAINING. Also, do not trust his services without a written agreement from him guaranteeing his services will be completed because he will stop replying. Our dogs came back from his board & train program clearly MALNOURISHED, DEHYDRATED, & with WORSE separation anxiety, barking, & overall behavior after 4 weeks with Eddie. Their malnutrition was confirmed by a vet visit with blood work up & tests that Eddie refuses to pay for, but is CLEARLY responsible for their dramatic loss of weight & deterioration of health. The vet put them on medicine and prescription food for over a month to restore them to good health. Despite bringing this to Eddie's attention, he did not apologize and only refused to refund the deposit for the last two weeks that weren't completed blaming US for taking them out despite the fact that HE CAUSED THE DETERIORATION OF THEIR HEALTH. He reluctantly refunded us the last two weeks after much discussion, but leaves us on RADIO SILENCE when we asked for a full refund and payment of the vet bill we incurred due to his board and train. We trusted Eddie with our 8 month old Australian shepherd puppy and 4 year old Maltese yorkie for a 4-6 week board and train. At the initial consult, he provided lip service basically agreeing with anything we were saying including refundable deposits, visits to see our dogs, no problems with dogs fighting, feeding schedule, working on specific problems in the house/meeting strangers & kids only to find him take back his word & refuse what was agreed upon. We were in constant communication with him via text and Instagram. He sent us pictures of the dogs and videos of their progress. We SPECIFICALLY asked about the dogs condition and if they were eating their foods. Eddie said he was giving 4 cups a day to the mini Aussie and 2 cups a day to the morkie. This was clearly a lie considering their huge loss in weight. We also asked to follow up with the dogs in person, but was not given the right to do so due to HIS BUSY SCHEDULE until the fourth week of their board and train. He did not even bother to check the dogs because we were the ones who pointed out how PROMINENT THE RIB CAGES WERE & HOW IT CLEARLY LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE STARVING. Eddie was clearly surprised because he never touched the dogs. He again stated he fed them 4 cups and 2 cups, but now followed up with "it's not my fault if your dogs don't eat". We as long time dog owners understand the concept of making your dogs work for food. HOWEVER, If the health is being neglected, then it becomes ANIMAL ABUSE due to NEGLECT. He also FAILED TO COMMUNICATE this with us despite being in CONSTANT communication with him. Eddie OVERBOOKS the amount of dogs he is training. He has FIVE dogs of his own and 3-5 dogs he takes on ADDITIONALLY to board and train or private train. HE CLEARLY IS UNDERSTAFFED and will NOT provide your dog the adequate care and training they require. He leaves the dogs in crates in his garage with all the other dogs when he is not training them. With the number of dogs he is training the dogs most likely get VERY LITTLE FACE TO FACE TIME & HUMAN INTERACTION as my dogs came back with increased separation anxiety & DESPERATE for attention & love. Also the dogs came back smelling like feces/urine. DO NOT TRUST THIS TRAINER. We are experienced dog owners who only wanted the dogs to be refined in their skills because we already had a good foundation of obedience and crate training, but they somehow came out worse. He didn't even bother to give us any training after we got the dogs back or any check in to see how they were doing. He clearly puts in more effort or his "high profile clients" but neglected our dogs which we paid $5K for his services. We are beyond disbelief and disappointment with EDDIE PENA.

So we decided to send our wild child Sam out for training. When we were looking around we found Eddie . And wow the way he made us feel trusting him to take her away for 3 weeks, and let him do his magic. Eddie was so awesome constantly updating me with video and pictures. On pick up day today Sam was a new dog so much confidence and structure built into her. Eddie gave me an hr of his time to show me and demo everything I need todo and what Sam was doing. If you guys need some help with your pups, I trust Eddie can help you out. It's safe to say I have a friend and dog trainer for life!!! Thanks Eddie!!

Man, what can i say about this man services. A1! Clearly establishes a connection with the dog puts into perspective the animals needs. Is able to Establish boundaries, confidence, education, etc. Not only does he educate the dog but also educates the parents so we can understand the dogs body language and make corrections when necessary. Took my Golden with poor leash skills and poor confidence. She came back with confidence like you couldn't believe and when we go out for walks everyone asks how did we get her so well trained. Hit up the man Eddie at Critical Thinking Dog Services. He wont disappoint.

Eddies the man...!!! The name of his company speaks for itself...He took care of my puppy and me down to the T... I was very impressed with how down-to-earth he was as well as How professional he handled business... Not only did he teach my dog new tricks and behaviors he even taught me how to keep up with my dogs training... I had one puppy that was a bit more of a severe case due to lack of confidence(would pee him self when i went to pet or pick him up/tail in-between his legs for every noise or quick movements), What he considered an emergency case and took him in immediately for his 3-5 week inboard training course... I also have two puppies that I wanted to sharpen up around the edges that he provided private lessons for... Amazing experience and from now on all of the dogs in my kennel will be trained through him... Thank you again Eddie may you be blessed...!!!

We have had the pleasure of working with Eddie for a few weeks and he is very professional, caring, understanding and committed to helping us and our Saint Bernards. The training for ALL of us has been tremendous and they are enjoying the interaction with all dogs which is OUR goal and this is what Eddie has been helping us with and we have had great success. We would recommend C.T.D.S. to anyone.

i don't really know how to start this off. my new puppy bambi, i adopted her at 12 weeks from a shelter and shes just the cutest. i had two dogs previously and we had never sent them to a "professional trainer" but they were amazing dogs only a bit dog aggressive due to not having previous knowledge of socialization. so i decided that i should send her. i looked around for ones that had great reviews and were trustworthy so i decided on critical dog thinking where eddie said he was going to train her. his brother also trained my pup. i sent her around 3 months old o believe and she came back extremely food aggressive. i thought maybe it's because i just fed her in the crate and shes just growling there, but no it was outside and inside of her crate. i'm still working on it with her and she is now 6 months. i don't understand how she could be food aggressive if she was hand fed all that time. shes gotten so much better recently but its still a long process. i'm 17 and i spent 1k on her training which i saved up for, and it took a good while to do that. its upsetting to get her back like this when she shouldn't have even been like this. i am really regretting sending her over and i feel like she would've been a different dog if i never sent her and i feel like i've failed her. when she got back i noticed she didn't have a single thing absolutely 100% down. when she got excited she also peed everywhere. i understand she wasn't going to come back the perfect dog and there will still have to be some work done. but i just wish for the money i paid she wouldn't jump on anyone anymore which i discussed with eddie in person. we also discussed having a "leave it" command which she did not learn or have once she came back. i was under the impression she was going to be trained well due to eddie saying that she was doing amazing. the only thing she partially knew was "down". i did message eddie about my concerns and he did respond and ask to take her back but honestly i don't think i trust him again to take my dog if she came back like this?? so i declined the offer and i wanted a refund or at least my deposit back and he didn't respond after that. i read countless reviews about how their dogs are much better and i'm glad but that was just not my experience. i'm not sure if anyone else has had this experience with these people but this was mine and i'm hoping to get some compensation. i truly am just disappointed. the video below is the day we got her back and the pictures are from this week ^-^

Apollo mastering one of his confidence building exercises

I highly recommend Eddie and Critical Thinking Dog Services!! I recently adopted an 8 week old GSD puppy (Apollo) and my resident 4 year old Rat Terrier mix (Jar Jar) was NOT happy about it. He was bullying the puppy and I knew this could become a very big problem very quickly. Eddie agreed to help us and I am a very satisfied customer. He came to our home and immediately started working on boundaries with my dogs. Surprisingly, they both accepted them more quickly than I anticipated! After that, we went to work on confidence building and basic obedience. I've taken many dogs to basic obedience but Eddie introduced some new (to me) concepts that made so much sense and they're working . After one private session less than 24 hours ago, my dogs know when it's time to work and are doing so amazing in our follow up training. Apollo has mastered so many new skills and Jar Jar is slowly building more confidence. As I type this, my dogs are resting peacefully and I'm watching the Presidential Debate without having to worry about whether they're going to kill each other. Love it!!

Eddie is the best, I recommend him to all my friends. If you want to train your doggo to fear you, Eddie is not the trainer for you. He offers insight on how to build a solid foundation that will evolve the relationship between you and your four legged best friend to a respectful one. I learned a lot about boundaries and boosting my dog's confidence level, and with time/work together we can achieve our goal. Training with Eddie just makes sense!

Since then, we have done our best to train her (even hired a dog training company) and while she's been amazing to us, there have been some incidents. We tried to correct her behavior but we had to go beyond just correcting a behavior, we had to know the why. We needed a dog behaviorist. Enter Bark Busters and Justine! From the very first phone conversation with Justine, she told us about a dog's personality (the who) vs. a dog's behavior (the why). Was our dog just naturally an aggressive dog or was our dog showing aggression due to past trauma. After the initial phone call then came the in person assessment in our home, Justine knew our dog's personality was sweet and loving to us; however, due to her being a rescue, her past experiences led to trauma that led to aggressive behaviors towards others in certain situations. Moreover, during that first assessment, she educated us things we had no idea about or thought about with dogs as pets plus what we need to be and do as owners. Justine was and is exactly what we were looking for in understanding our dog and from there building the right relationship with our dog that will keep her and others safe. The business model and curriculum that Bark Busters and Justine have put in place is one of a kind and works from day 1. We have always wanted what is best for our dog and to give her the best life possible, especially because she is a rescue and her breed. Bark Busters and Justine continues to give us the tools in place to build the confidence and trust we have as owners in our dog and our dog has in us as owners.
