THIS PLACE IS RACIST! I came with my boyfriend who is black ( I am white ) and from the moment we stepped inside we were targeted. The very unpleasant girl at the counter did not greet us or anything at all. She sat there and stared at us with a evil blank look on her face until we said something. She was extremely rude and unhelpful and kept looking at us up and down. The cold sore on her lip was turnt up with a ugly frown she made us both fill out a waiver which is understandable even though I was just observing not shooting. She told us to continue to the safety briefing. While in the briefing she walked past the room staring at us multiple times. She even ran over to the counter and looked like she whispered to her colleagues. TATTLE TALE MUCH ?? We finished the safety briefing approached the gun counter and again more waiting. Finally the manager pulled us aside. My boyfriend was the only black man inside btw and told us we can not shoot because we "smell like weed". Do not go here. I'm new to the NoVA area and was looking for a new range to go to. I heard some good things from this place, but was hesitant because it's quite far from where I'm living. When you first arrive, you pull into a very unassuming building. Doesn't look like too much from the outside. As soon as I stepped through the door, I was in awe of how wonderful this place looked! Definitely not your typical range; instead, it's a range suitable for the luxuries of Loudoun County! Very clean and modern looking. The staff are very friendly and wonderful. They're very helpful and willing to assist with whatever you need. Renting and shooting on their range is quite pricey, but they take care of their equipment and facility so the money isn't too much of a deal breaker. Overall, I was very impressed with this facility and was convinced to buy a membership here! The savings on the lane alone will be worth it, even if I only come twice a month. I'm always weary of going to new shooting ranges because I've had bad experiences. Unfortunately, there are a lot of ranges that can profile or treat you differently being female and I have a hard time dealing with being watched or profiled in that manner. Luckily, I did not feel that coming here for the first time. You do need to register in their system and go through their waiver, no big deal and super easy. The lobby is clean and was greeted upon arriving the check in process can be a bit time consuming if you have never been, but it's no big deal. The RSO's who were on duty were courteous and did not seem too crazy. Maybe it'll be like that the next time I go as well, but I was super happy. I'll be coming back! read more

I regularly use the public range and I have taken almost every standalone class available, in addition to being a training team member for weekly training. This has been one of the best indoor ranges I have ever been to. The classes have been immensely useful at improving my technical and tactical profeciency, competency, and overall confidence with my weapons and gear. The instructors are all great and have the background and teaching skills to share valuable lessons while keeping things engaging, humorous, and most importantly: safe. I've gotten my wife and kids involved in training and I always invite friends and co-workers to visit SEG. I went through SEG for an FFL transfer. On the first visit to fill out the paperwork, one front desk employee wouldn't consistently wear her mask and I saw another at a counter in the back not wearing his mask at all. I decided to wait in my car after completing the paperwork. When they called me back in, the same person wasn't wearing her mask and pulled it up when she saw me. With paperwork processing delayed, we agreed that I would return when the system responses had returned results. I was unable to return for three days. When I returned, one front desk employee wasn't wearing a mask at all during the 10 minutes that I was at the front while everyone else, including all customers, did except for when they were on the phone. They have a sign behind the desk that affirms that all employees should wear masks. The 10 minute wait to pay was due to a paperwork review which seemed odd to me since they had the paperwork for three days. The staff is what I'd call superficially friendly. This is not a personable place. If you're from an area where being treated like a car in a car wash is considered rude, this is not your place. read more

Tried to buy a gun here. Took forever to get someone to let me handle it out of the display. The bouncer-looking employee was too busy trying to impress some guy and his wife with his gun knowledge. Finally got to handle it, decided to buy it, and they got me a little ways through the process and said they were out of forms and made me come back the next day. So I come back again and the model I had reserved wasn't there. The kid in the blue polo does his best to convince me of the fact that the gun he wants to sell me is the one I handled before even though I know it isn't. I'd already gone through all the rigamarole of background check and everything before they brought it out to play their little bait and switch. Anyways, it was close enough and the price actually was really very good, so I took it. Keeping any one employee's attention here for longer than a few seconds would be a miracle. Mostly a bunch of young lads trying to look tough who pass you off from one to the other while running around in circles screaming, "Do we have to open the other range yet?!" "Who are these people?!" "Where'd that one guy go?!" "Hey, do we have any forms?!" Just a disorganized bunch who seem to really be all about making the place flashy so they can distract you while they take your money. Honestly, this place seems like a great home for civilians, pogues and fobbits. It's all shiny and has a café and blah blah blah. For former combat arms folks, law enforcement or real avid gun shooters and/or collectors, this place will seem laughable. Anyway, like I said, the gun prices actually seemed pretty good when I was there, so if you want to put up with 'em a few minutes to see what they have, it could be worth a visit. But the membership is WAY overpriced, and so is ammo and range time. The NRA HQ range and Blue Ridge Arsenal are both better options and better value. read more

Fact: Firing a gun was singlehandedly the most terrifying experience of my life. I may or may not have started crying at one point... though, to be fair, that was more due to the shell casing that made its way DOWN THE FRONT OF MY DRESS and burned me in two spots. True story. And the kind of thing what would ONLY HAPPEN TO ME. Anyway. All of that being said, I can't deny the fact that there's something about the act of shooting a firearm that does something to you. People say it makes you feel powerful, it does. In a baby-rabbit-with-too-much-bravado kind of way, but nonetheless. It's a powerful kind of fear, and despite all the safety rules that both the technicians AND my boyfriend were drilling into me (always keep the barrel pointed downrange, never point a gun at something you don't intend to kill, finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot, etc, etc), it was still a sobering experience to hold a gun in my hands. I got to shoot a .22 (my favorite of the bunch), a 9mm (shocking, scary, and surprisingly hard to shoot - especially given it's the most common kind of handgun), and even an AR. I think I was better at shooting the AR than the 9mm, actually. The .22 was nice and light for me, didn't have much kickback, and was the easiest for me to control. Buuuut, the manfriend also tells me that a .22 wouldn't be enough to stop a heroin-enraged crazy person from charging at me, so I shouldn't get too comfortable. Le sigh. Being that this was (obviously) my first time at a shooting range EVER, I don't have any basis for comparison, but I will say that Silver Eagle Group seemed pretty clean, their staff was relatively friendly (especially in response to what I'm sure was nothing but doe-eyed staring from me as I looked around), and my boyfriend says it's one of the nicest in the area. I guess really the only negative was that I didn't like how they charge up the wazoo for paper targets. (Seriously, $12 for some sheets of paper? Next time I'll just print out an 8x11 screenshot from The Walking Dead and call it a day.) I don't know how much it is to rent a gun, but if you don't own there are plenty just sitting in the display case calling for you to pick 'em on up and give 'em a spin. They also have a showroom and sell guns here. So, even through all the fear and the tears and general dread that surrounded the morning, it may surprise you to hear that I'm not completely put off from the idea of shooting again. I'll probably need a little bit of time to recover from the experience because it appears I am a total pansy, but I'm pretty interested in learning how to handle myself properly. Silver Eagle Group has one of the nicer ranges around. As others have mentioned, they are a bit on the pricier end. $25.00 for one person and an additional $15.00 per person that accompanies you. My buddy who I was visiting at the time, warned me about this ahead of time. He is also well versed with firearms, so another friend and I were able to play around with two of his glocks and a Sig Sauer, which I'm sure mitigates rental costs even further. I had a great experience at SEG, for starters, their facility is clean, well-maintained and well ventilated. Secondly, their instructors, are extremely friendly and available to answer any questions you might have. Finally, the computerized target system is user-friendly and runs smoothly. With a simple press of a button, you can adjust your targets to your liking. One thing that is hard to get used to in an indoor shooting range is how loud it can get. I had state-of-the-art digital headphones in and every shot delivered a piercing blow to my eardrums. I wasn't naive to this, but didn't have a full understanding of just how irritating it could get at times. The whizzing of glocks, 40 cals and marksmen shooting sniper rifles on bipods just a few feet away from you only compound the situation further. Gotta love Virginia gun laws! I can't wait to return and try shooting an M4 Carbine w//Laser Sight. I would relish the opportunity to shoot such a pristine piece of weaponry. read more

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. The RSO was a total nuisance and would not stop antagonizing us. He kept sneaking up from behind and getting right in my face (no mask on) for no apparent reason other than to offer my wife unsolicited advice. After the 3rd time, I told him he needed to stop getting into my space. He got super butt-hurt and started ranting and went to tell someone. He wasn't hovering over anyone else, so I think he was offended that we were wearing face masks.... ya know, pandemic and what not. I ended up leaving because he was such an unprofessional pain in the neck. Apparently, it's the same older RSO that keeps costing SEG repeat customers. Aside from that, the awkward rule about uncasing weapons only in the firing lane (which is too flippin small for a long gun case) is counterproductive, unsafe, and made the whole thing awkward. Also, getting in to actually use the range was an overly complex ordeal. Just a bad overall experience. Two thumbs down. Go to Sharpshooters if you want a straight forward range without an overzealous RSO breathing down your neck while you're trying to shoot. read more

The range is clean but much smaller than its competitors in the area. Good selection for rentals and nice store section. However, the staff was extremely lazy, when i walked in there was no one at the front desk. In fact the entire entrance area was empty. Despite there being no line it took forever for them to get us i to the safety briefing room, at which time the employee sped through the briefing to the point his words were unintelligible. Their largest lane is only 50 yards with tables that are not big enough to serve as a rest for a rifle. The stalls are cramped and too small for most long guns. Overall the lack of professionalism and size of the range has turned me off from this range. read more

I've taken two handgun courses with SEG. As I am refreshing my shooting skills the process has been really exciting. My course work has been Intro with Handguns and Concealed Handguns with Matt and Madison. They both are fantastic! I've learned so much already and all members of staff to front desk, handgun counter staff and instructors have been wonderful. Amy Shotwell, walked me through the process initially responding to inquiries and helped with emailing back and forth with lots of information before getting started. She was very responsive and provided information to ensure I knew what the next steps were. I learned she not only has stellar customer service skills but she's available for lessons as well. I decided to get a female's prospective on handguns as the things that apply to men may not apply to me. I was glad I made that decision. She understood my concerns having a smaller frame, hands and different clothing attire than a man. She could relate to me on so many different levels. The men were great instructors do not be mistaken but it was so nice meeting with her and personally training with her because everything finally clicked and came together being a woman as well. Now I know what I need to work on and it was tailored because she listened and provided valuable feedback. She's a fantastic instructor and I was thoroughly impressed. She's down to earth and made me feel very comfortable. I look forward to going back and investing in a perishable skill. If you don't train, train, train you will lose the skills needed if you need to use your weapon. They have so many courses that prepare you for real life situations. I can't wait to go back soon!! I'm not a member YET but going to join soon. One day I went I could see a squad of police officers doing qualifying shooting. If police officers are using this range you know you're in the right place. If you're on the fence about participating, please do it. The fees and costs of courses are quite reasonable and worth every penny for hours and hours of training. I've completed 7.5 hrs in two courses. I now have everything I need for my concealed handgun license! P.S All COVID guidelines are being followed it's not even an issue there. read more

This is the most expensive range of the three I've shot at in the area, but it is also the nicest by a good margin. We were here to use the Living Social coupon, so we didn't pay full price, but range passes are $25/hr ($20/hr if you buy a ten-pack). The instructor for the safety session was quite entertaining, much better than the one I had to get my concealed carry license in Alexandria. After a 20 minutes session they set us up with rental handguns and ammo (but they were happy to let me use my own in the same lane that were shooting the rental, although not all at once obviously). Three of us shared a lane and had a great time. The facilities were top notch: great ventilation, good lighting, three different ranges for different types of shooting and firearms, and a really nice lounge area. Next time I go shooting I will definitely go here, grab a ten-pack to keep the cost in line with Blue Ridge, and maybe even rent an AK-47 or M4 for an hour to try it out... read more

I went here with a Living Social deal. I think without the deal, the place is a tad pricy, but it's also a lot fancier than some other ranges I've been too. When you arrive, there's no huge sign by the street, so look out for the triangle signs on the building. The place is very clean and organized. Aside from the girl at the front desk, I think everyone else - the instructors and the guy working the gun rental desk - were very helpful and nice. The instructors were very helpful and didn't mind repeating instructions. I went with 2 other girls. We used a 9mm and one box of ammo (50 bullets). That lasted us about an hour. Of course, we were slow to load the bullets and we took our time shooting, but it was enough for one day. =) read more

Apparently it's the 2nd largest indoor shooting range in the world! The largest one is in Dubai but that applies to a lot of things. Come out on a groupon and got a 9mm and a box of ammo. After we finised the box we switched to a .38 special, the ammo for that was $20 a box. Not the cheapest thing to do but boy is it fun. The staff there is great. I've shot shotguns before but never handguns. We rented guns from here, ear and eye protection, got ammo, 2 targets and rented a lane for two people ended up being 87 dollars not sure if this is a good deal or not for an hour. The cool part is that you can switch out for any of their hand guns and shot guns throughout the 1 hour you rent the lane. I have only ever shot outside before so shooting inside was new to me. I do not like how all the gun shot noise vibrates off the wall. I still prefer clay shooting out at bull run over shooting inside. But if you are into indoor ranges you could love this. The cheaper bet is renting a lane for 1 hr for around 27 dollars and bringing your own guns, ammo, ear and eye protection and targets! read more

Been to a couple of gun ranges in the area lately (thanks to some 2nd amendment rights supporters in my family and love life),and one of my good friends decided she wanted to go to a gun range for her birthday. Something different and fun, so I was excited. We came to Silver Eagle on a Wednesday night. I know some days are reserved for members only and Wed. is not one of them. We walked into the building and were greeted by a young lady behind the desk. She asked for our IDs and pointed us to the set of computers on the other wall where you first read through and sign some documents. Pretty straightforward for your first time at any gun range. Once we were signed up, a nice man behind the gun counter (I should have taken names) talked us through weapons, rentals, ammo, and instructed a couple of my friends on how to hold, load, and shoot a gun they were renting. We needed three lanes and though it was a Wednesday night, there was a decent amount of folks in there both for the range and for group classes. The very friendly and helpful Range Officer gave us a quick 5-minute briefing of the range rules right before he let us into the strong doors that separated the store space from the range. Overall, I had a great experience here. Everyone was friendly and helpful and very patient with a group of women coming in for what was the first time for some. I will say this looked to be an older range once we were actually shooting. The glass partition between my lane and the next had a nice shatter mark and the table/counter right in front of my lane was not the steadiest. If I had been unhappy with my experience here, these two things would certainly take off a couple extra stars, but in this case, only one. Great service and a great time at Silver Eagle.
