I go to Silver Diner all the time, the food is always great. But the service here is awful. I ate twice at this location (the Merrifield location is awesome!) and the first time we were served by a girl who never visited us after taking the order and took almost 20 minutes before someone else brought a check. But the second time the waiter was far worse. He did the following: 1) Introduced himself by asking us for our order, and guilted us by saying we've been there before so we should know what to order already. He never said his name as wasn't wearing a name tag, which was probably intentional. 2) Sat at the table with us while repeated asking us if we wanted beer. We didn't. 3) Insisted we request desert before our meal. We just wanted to eat. He really wanted us to get dessert before we even ordered. 4) After realizing we were not going to order anything else, gave us the check while we were still eating, took the payment and the signed receipt and told us to have a nice day before we were even close to finishing our meals, then never came back. He clearly wanted us gone as fast as possible. The entire thing was rushed and awkward, his constant asking for us to order drinks and desert was borderline harassment, and we had no time to enjoy our meals without being pestered and rushed to finish. You can listen to old times songs and classics for .25 My go to dish is the flank steak or shrimp scampi, so delish! If you're a Tabasco or hot sauce lover, bring your own little bottle. My mother and I were very excited to try an early dinner at the Silver Diner during our drive up to college. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met by our experience. Our experience started out good: our waiter (a young man with long hair whom I believe was named TJ) provided excellent service and the chocolate milkshakes that my mother and I ordered were great. We ordered our food and I took care to let TJ know that I am vegetarian. I substituted the choice of meat in the pancakes and eggs bundle with french fries, and he assured me that there would be no issues. The menu at Silver Diner also indicates that the restaurant would be well-equipped to receive those with dietary restrictions, as they have an entire "Flexitarian" section. When my food arrived, my first few bites were good. Then, I noticed a sizable chunk of ham in my scrambled eggs. I stopped eating then let TJ know about the meat in my dish. To his credit, he responded appropriately by apologizing then notifying his manager, who came over to the table and apologized. She also offered to comp my pancakes and eggs. I thanked the two for their responses and the kitchen quickly brought out a new order of scrambled eggs. I continued to eat, unfazed, when I noticed that under my french fries was a piece of bacon. I was appalled that this issue did not just happen once, but twice. With two separate types of meat dish presenting themselves. I was ready to chalk the first mistake up to human error and move on, but the second piece of meat really got under my skin. TJ apologized again, but the manager didn't come by after the second mistake. We paid for the rest of our bill and left. We will not be going back to the Silver Diner despite getting good service and it seemingly having good food (when there isn't undisclosed meat in it). I hope my body doesn't have a reaction to accidentally consuming meat after being vegetarian for over a decade. I cannot stress this highly enough: if you have any dietary restrictions do NOT go to the Silver Diner. It may look accommodating on the outside, but my experience begs to differ. read more

First off, the service was some of the best I've ever received. Our waitress was hilarious, charming, and upbeat. She checked in frequently, had great suggestions, and sung along with us when we played the jukebox. It's a cute little diner with fresher ingredients (it really shows) and some good hormone free burgers. I had the All American Trio Burger Sliders and they were great! I also got a slice of apple pie for the road and it was DELICIOUS, really good soft apples and a pie crust that was the perfect amount of sweet. This is mainly going off of my last store pick up from Silver Diner, The food was just okay for my kids and my wife and I shared the Vegan meatball Mac with veggies and was missing the cheese sauce as well as the cauliflower. I should have taken a picture it looked terrible. The Manager did send my a voucher for a meal but by the time I got it in the mail a few weeks ago, and I think I had a few days to use it but I never got around to using it. I always get their burgers because they were always good but the last time I ordered and it was such a disappointment. First of all it was over done I mean the beef patty at least but the junks of beef were definitely microwaved because they were so chewy and terrible tasting . Delicious! I ordered the corned beef hash and was thoroughly satisfied except for the home fries. Not all my homefries were crispy. They were different sizes, so the bigger potatoes weren't as crispy as the smaller ones. One another note, I felt like my server was a little awkward. I asked for a to go box, and she handed it to my friend instead. I, also, didn't like that she didn't ask if it was a separate checks. She put the tab together, then asked if we wanted to split it down the middle. I didn't mind too much, but my meal was cheaper by a few dollars. In conclusion, I really liked this location. The atmosphere is something outta a 80s sitcom which is a good thing and it has an element of nostalgia. Furthermore, they have a guy who sings when he brings out the biscuits. We recently went to Silver Dinner at Springfield, VA, this weekend. The service was horrible. We waited over 15 minutes before we got served, and that's only because my brother-in-law went to speak to the manager. She ended up taking our order. The family that came 10 minutes after us got their drinks and orders put in before us. Once we got our order, no one ever came back to check on us to ask if our food was okay if we needed anything else or any refills. They forgot the avocados for my brother in-laws omelet, and he had to get up and find someone to bring it out. Then, when we were done eating, we waited for our check. Sadly, no one came for about 10 to 15 minutes till again my brother in-law got up and found a waitress to give us our check. When paying ofcourse we left no tip because we had no server. The lady went to get our receipt, and my wife had her hand out to receive the receipt, and the lady threw it on the table and left. This used to be a great restaurant. The restaurant wasn't understaffed, and it wasn't that busy. Don't see why we didn't get any type of service. The problem.was their lack of consideration for the customers. We have eaten here several times but this time would be memory that will never be forgotten. I had the LumberJack Breakfast and my wife had the Avocado Toast. Food seemed to be okay until my wife pulled a nail out her mouth after taking a bite out of her Avocado toast. The length of the nail was about the size of your pinky finger and about an 1/8 of inch in diameter. Fortunately the nail was not digested. We brought it to our waiters attention and asked to speak to the manager immediately. Once the black female manager came over to our table we told her what the issue was with the Avocado Toast. The manager's response was, oh my god! I don't know how that got in there.... She said she would let her cook know and left our table without asking if my wife would like something else or remove her plate. A few minutes later she returned and then said, do you want us to remake your meal? At this point we were pretty much done and ready to go so she said, okay I'll remove the Avocado toast from your check sorry about that... Then turned to our waitress and said im taking her meal off the check and gave us 10% off the remaining amount of the check which was about $2 off. I can tell you the way the manager handle the situation was pretty pathetic! Taking her meal off the check was by far the obvious thing to do, but adding a 10% discount to the check for the nail that she came close to swallowing was more of an insult. Let's just say Silver Diner would've gotten sued for millions had that nail been swallowed! read more

They did a fairly good job keeping the line moving. I'm honestly amazed that this place stays so busy. They tasted...artificial and the texture was rubbery. I'm not even sure how to explain the flavor. Almost like a chemical taste. We complained to the waitress and were soon greeted by management which proceeded to argue with us about how their eggs were fresh and local and no one here has complained about the eggs before. After some time trying to convince the manager that we knew what egg whites should taste like and that this wasn't it. He finally went to the kitchen to check with the staff...we didn't hear anything after that. We did get 10% off our meal (yippee....). Not that we were looking for anything in return.
