Let me start by saying I was happy when SD came back to the Laurel/Columbia area, I have frequented the place to happy results... except for today. I came in today and sat at the bar, after 5 mins of wondering who was serving me at the bar (with an empty row at the time I sat down), Angelica finally came over (with an attitude) and took my order. A country griddle with coffee and OJ. Typically, arrives I've had bring out the coffee ASAP, in the case nothing... 10 minutes later and after literally watching her serve morning Alcoholic beverages to folks who sat down AFTER me... I called her over to ask if she forgot to grab my coffee. Keep in mind, I was still pleasant but a bit bothered that she saw me several times. She stomped off, grabbed me a coffee and cream... when I asked for sugar she rolled her eyes. ‍. Then I asked her about my OJ she rolled off the excuse that she was busy... mind you the restaurant was a quarter full around 10am and with plenty of servers, not to mention the bar was empty till about 7-8 mins after I sat down and was still only 25% full of customers. I stopped her and said, I hear you but my question is why did they (the new people on my row) get served their drinks and I've been waiting over 10 mins to get just a cup of coffee. Her response was to turn her head and walk away. I was shocked. Even the guy on my row said that was rude and uncalled for. I asked for the manager. I can't recall her name. But she apologized, issues another server Emily who took great care of me. What made it worse was I had to watch Angelica continue to pace back and forth in front of me with no immediate discussion with management about her behavior. The managers response was that when I come back to just sit on the other side away from Angelica. ??? Was not the best way to handle the situation. The manager ended up comping my meal and I took care of Emily with a large tip! Emily and the manager came over and handed me a review card with I honestly completed and it was left at the bar in front of Angelica. My worry is that it will be tossed in the trash or that it will never be seen. My only hope is that management or ownership sees this review and speaks to Angelica about proper customer service! Because it may be awhile before I consider returning if the response is to see her there again and the attitude remains. read more

love the food but don't eat at the bar it is a social place for the employees very uncomfortable to eat at bar I was trying to eat and all the employees having social event for themselves very unprofessional and we could not talk to each other because the employees was louder then we were never seen such a thing read more

Always a consistently great value and service with these restaurants. I was excited when I saw a new location open up here and have not been disappointed ever since. Seems well managed and very clean! read more

Definitely not your grandfather's Silver Diner . The brand maintains it's traditional kitschy 50s atmosphere, but they have completely overhauled the menu. Lots of delicious, healthy options at really good prices! read more

Great service and food. The selections are healthy, locally sourced, and special-diet friendly, gluten free and vegan offerings. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with music that is fun, but not overbearing. I've eaten in many diners and what makes this place special is knowing that you can eat healthy and with high quality food ingredients. Highly recommend this place. read more

We waited and waited for this one to get built so that there would be a Silver Diner close to us. What a let down when we finally got to go. The place looks great upon initial inspection, then you start noticing things, little things, but the devil is in the details. First food is on the floor, not in the booths i mean right out in the walkway, french toast i believe. The place is brand spanking new, how do you have water stains in the ceiling? 90% of the wait staff is slow as cold molasses. Most are more interested in their social status than they are working. The food, ehh, so so. Everything is room temp to cold, which means when you go to spread the one and only butter on your three pancakes then its gonna be a lil hard. ***hint*** Butter will not go bad if brought to room temperature, in fact it may even be easier to spread. Drink your coffee slow, unless Juan Valdez brings you another cup you certainly wont get another, not even by using subtle hints like placing the empty cup on the end of the table. But if course someone would have to come by occasionally to see if you needed anything. Just because its Silver Diner we will give them 6 months to work out the kinks, but if after that time if there is no improvement, i guess we wont be back. read more

Stopped in today for the first time. Atmosphere and Lakeisha the server was pleasant. After receiving our drinks, my son noticed that the straws had multiple black spots inside of the straws. After closely reviewing I determined both straws contained black mold spots inside of them. May I mention, the straws had been sealed, thank goodness my son had the forethought to check before we used them. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and when they arrived, I immediately exclaimed "What is that?" The tacos didn't look resemble any fish tacos. In fact, the fish were large and fried extremely hard, and overpowered the flimsy soft taco beneath which could barely be seen. The presentation as well as the audacity of the cook to ever think it would be acceptable to present such a meal is absolutely appalling. I sent the food back and was prepared to choose an easier meal (pancakes), however after careful thought the molded straws coupled with the horrible presentation of the food was enough for me, I chose not to spend my money at this establishment. I was neither rude, or obnoxious, however, as I was leaving I heard someone yell out "bye". Never in a million years x infinity will I ever return to this place. If you choose to dine here, bring your own drinks because if the straws are moldy what about the drinks themselves, let alone the sanitation pertaining to their food. YUCK! read more

We received delivery on 3-5-20. Food just average. We were totally gouged pricewise. $9.00 service charge. $9.00 dispatch fee. That is $18.00 plus tip for an order that was $39.00. Will never go in there or order again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

My husband and I recommended this restaurant to our family and was extremely disappointed in our experience. We were seated quickly, however we waited 20 minutes before receiving any acknowledgement. The only reason we were recognized is because my husband spoke to the manager. A waiter came to our table and said that we were not in his section but he would serve us. As we began to order our food, a huge party was leaving in the back and the waiter commented to us that he wished that he could tell them to shut the f*** up. Now maybe he was trying to be relatable, but my mother in law was at the table and my baby nephew, which wasn't appropriate at all. After we placed our orders, 3 out of 4 sodas were served to the table and my nephew didn't receive his juice. He didn't get his juice until after the meals came out, which took close to 40 minutes. The sandwiches were cold, my nieces chicken tender platters were good, but they never received an appetizer with their dish, I ordered a side of loaded fries which came out as a shareable appetizer that was burned on top. I have eaten at silver diner in other locations that could always provide me with just a side of loaded French fries, but our server said the appetizer is the only way that they could be served. I told our server that I didn't want the appetizer and he said that someone can have them if I don't. The server did recook my husband's meal which he was able to take to-go. We didn't receive any sort of discount and were dismissed as soon as we paid our check. As a table, the manager never came to our table to apologize or assist with our experience. He continued to peek at our booth after the server communicated to him. It felt disrespectful, like we were not worthy of any helpful communication. I believe the experience could have been made better if there was at least some communication by our server and the manager such as "have you been helped yet" or "that your food would be out shortly" or something indicating that we were attended to. It is really embarrassing to recommend a restaurant to your family and travel 30 minutes to receive under average service, cold food, burned food, and late beverages. I know silver diner stands on their great quality of food, attentiveness of service, and cleanliness of the restaurant but unfortunately we did not get to share that experience with our family. read more

Silver Diner - Loaded fries burned on the top, looked like it was forgotten under the warmer. Very disappointed. - New American Near Me - Elkridge, Maryland

I love silver diner. I have been going to the one in laurel since i was a kid then it closed down and then this location opened. I love the breakfast all day and the variety. I never really do yelp reviews but i felt i should put it out there. The only issue i have with this location is when i get breakfast on a Saturday or Friday night. I always order the California omelette every time we dine there in the morning it is amazing and on point. When i go in the evening the order never comes out right and is always missing the black bean salsa and cilantro sour cream. The last waiter we had didn't even believe that it went on top and had to go ask and also charged us extra for alcohol we didn't order. He also took forever to get to us we were there for a hour and a half total. I gave it a second shot tonight and again it didn't come out with anything but a plain omelette that was not even a California omelette. I just wished they fixed how they make breakfast in the evening. Also a good suggestion they should have garlic bread with the pasta. I come here about 5 times a month and is always satisfied for the morning time but the evening staff just cant seem to get it right. read more

Went for the first time since they opened and were quite pleased. The service was very good, our server, Hollie, was very pleasant and efficient. The fish and chips were quite good with sole being used rather than cod. The cole slaw was very nice and included cranberries which gave it a fruity taste. The dressing was very light not the usual mayonnaise based. The menu has some gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian options which is nice for those of us who have allergies, etc. We will be going back to try other foods. read more

what an overpriced disappointment!!!! food was crap - wait staff was crap the best thing was getting the hell out of there!!! shocking for me to go to a silver diner where it was once a 1950's themed restraurant and the food was great to this abysmal experience. after years of taking my children to the silver diner in laurel, md i was excited to see one open in elkridge. too bad the owners can't be bothered educating those running this site that we are expecting a experience not the disappointment we had today. we will never be back!!!! mom's chicken soup was an indicator the food would be bad and indeed it was - if you can't make a decent chicken soup you need to get the hell out of the kitchen!!!! total bill was over $75.00 and the slice of cake for 8$ was a SLIVER. So sad to see people come to my country and ruin it! read more

Absolutely fantastic diner. Left feeling full, but not greasy and we all enjoyed our meals

They have food for everyone. Good for kids, adults, vegetarians, vgans etc. Portions are kinda small but food taste excellent!

I came into the silver diner with my boyfriend and I. This was our first time to the silver diner and our servers name was Neil. He came up to our table with such a warm and pleasant smile and he did let us know that it was his first day on the floor and that if he couldn't answer our questions that he would definitely find out for us. I could that he was definitely nice a first time server. Neil was very professional courteous and gave us very prompt and efficient service. The diner is very nice and the food was excellent. The service from Neil was well beyond our expectations. He recommended a few appetizers from the menu and a few entrees and told us about the rewards programs. We will definitely sign up for it next time. Neil definitely had a great smile when he came yo our table was very talkative and he made u felt like u were being invited to someone's home. He even told us about the awesome chunkey monkey milkshake that was his favorite. This is a very busy location and definitely has great teamwork and great food. But if u want excellent service go in their and see Neil. He may be new but he knows how to take care of his tables. Thank u Neil we will be back and recommended u to our friends and family. Excellent top notch service from u and excellent food. A+++++++ read more

We stopped here after shopping, it was 8:30. The waiter was there quickly and took our order and brought drinks. Thats where the positives stopped. My wifes food came out about 20 mins later, with an apology that mine wasn't ready but would be right out. Her tuna melt was missing one key element, the cheese wasn't melted, in fact it appeared it never hit the heat. Her fries were cold and obviously were sitting somewhere for awhile. Oh but there's more. My food came out at 9:15, thats right nearly a half hour later. I have no idea if it was good, we sent it back and left. The manager offered to box it for us, uh no you keep it. We did get a sorry for your experience. This Silver Diner is officially off our list. read more

I had the breakfast special as follows; waffle, coffee, and grapefruit. Roxana is an excellent server and Silver Diner is fortunate to have as an employee. The food is a-ok and the service is topnotch. I will return and recommend others to check out the breakfast specials. read more

The food here was delicious. A lot of good options, and the Creekstone ground beef is halal. The restaurant is big, but there was quite a bit of a wait. Not sure if it's because of how new it is or the time we went. I was a bit disappointed by their restrictions on substitutions. There was a steak and cheese egg dish and I asked to replace the steak with the ground beef due to my dietary restrictions, and they said I would have to pay an additional $10.99 (a full amount of another ground beef dish). I'm not sure if they just weren't prepared for this type of request since it's a new place, but I'm hoping that's the case. Will be back and see if I get a similar answer next time. Either way, the menu is vast and I can definitely find something else. Ended up getting a breakfast burger, and it was awesome. read more

The service was really bad. It took over 10 minutes to even get our drinks. We coould even see our waitress joking around with the other staff members. We had to ask about the status of our drinks! It was so bad that I got two salads, 1 before the main dish, and one with the main dish! The staff needs to concentrate on the customers and quit the horse playing!! I gave 2 stars, because the dishes were good otherwise it would have been 1 star. read more

Thank goodness the Silver Diner is back. My family were regulars and big fans of the ones back in Laurel and were gutted when that one closed down, as the Greenbelt one was a hike (though we did go there). It's awesome to have one right nearby again, and I figure we'll be coming often. They've updated the look somewhat; the Laurel diner was filled with bright chrome, 40s-era motifs, and sort of that old-school diner feel that went with their original menu (mostly standard diner fare). This place reflects more the sort of 'modern diner' thing they've been going for for the last 15 or so years; darker paneling, a little more elegant. A nice place to eat. The menu is also all the same as I recall - the standard diner fare stuff (corned beef hash and eggs, steak, etc.), and the stuff that sets the Silver Diner apart (Bison Huevos Rancheros, Pineapple Basil Vegetarian Stir Fry), as well as some local craft beers and wines, and quite a few dessert options. Service was friendly and attentive without being overly in your face (nice, especially since we had previously had a longstanding rapport with the staff back in Laurel, so we felt at home with the new group quickly). The Mrs. got the Pickle Brined Chicken and Waffles, and I went for the Flat Iron Steak and Eggs, as well as a couple Flying Dog beers on draft. The chicken was really good, juicy, and had a distinct flavor, which I guess was the brine. The steak was actually rare (as I had asked; often non-steakhouses will overcook it) and eggs and home fries were great as well. Hopefully the kitchen keeps it up; the head chef was personally supervising everything, which I imagine helps out as the new location gets off the ground. Looking forward to many more visits in the future! read more

I wish I could give them a good review but there was really nothing great..... the hostess was great but that's it. The service was very slow. The food was sad. I got the crab cake and it was fried on the outside and the inside tasted like a frozen fish stick. Sadly I do not recommend wasting 2 hours of your time or any of your money. I was with 3 other adults and none were satisfied with their meal. read more

We went the Friday after they opened. The process of getting seated was a mess. They took a list of names, and then decided that they couldn't take names and everyone had to stand in a line. That left it up to the guests to try to figure out who had been there first. The hostess who seated us was very sweet, if a little nervous. However, the food was very very good. I chalk up a few hiccups to it being early, and I'm sure they'll work out the kinks soon. read more

First time to any of the Silver Diner in the region. At first glance, kind of like most diners, but targeting people with more cosmopolitan habits of consumption, like having a (plastic) bottle of organic ketchup on the table. Ordered the turkey chili, disappointed. First, it lacked flavor, not quite enough salt, or other spices. Second, they must have put the meat through 10 grinders, because meat was floating around like powder, lacking any sort of meat like consistency. Didn't even finish the bowl. Menu is full of eye candy, but food is at best average. For this experience, closer to 2 stars than 3, but I only give 2 stars if something got screwed up. Nothing good or bad happened. read more

I am very impressed. I'm in town from NJ (known for our great diners) but this is better than most diners I've been to. They had a special plant based menu and my meal was prepared better than what you'd find at a fancy restaurant and 2x's the price. Service was quick and friendly. You guys should expand to NY / NJ - you'd put them all to shame!! Highly recommend this place, if I'm back here again on business, I will certainly return. read more

We have been here for 40 minutes and just got our drinks. Our server sat us down at a table with the booths too close to the table, we had trouble getting in and out. We have had four different waiters already. Service needs improvement. read more

The food was good, however it took a good 45 minutes to make 3 burgers and an order of Mac and cheese. Our server never came back to check on us, we had to ask for our drinks to be refilled. Then she dropped off the check and didn't come back to pick it up. We waited a good 10 minutes and then another server noticed our frustration and came and took our check. I'm not so sure we'll be returning to this location. We've been to other silver diners in the DMV and have never been disappointed. read more

Not great. Server didn't even know we were in her serving area - we waited a long time before she showed up. Not impressed - won't go back. read more

Everything was perfect from the second we walked in to when we got the food. The breakfast was enjoyable and the waiters were very friendly.

The service is by far and away the best part of this restaurant, and I say this having really enjoyed the food. The place was packed, with a line out the door of people waiting to be seated, and it felt like they were prepared for this. Biscuits were handed out to those waiting in line, and although I was a part of a group at the back of the line we were seated within 20 minutes. Once seated, the server was attentive, punctual, and incredibly kind, and we received our food promptly up until our entrees. Our entrees took around 25 or so minutes to come out, which isn't all that bad for a busy dinner service, but when they came out a manager came to our table, apologized for the wait, and gave each member a coupon for a free entrée! This should speak for itself, and I must say the food was also quite good. If looking for a good lunch or dinner place, I cannot recommend anything in the area over the Silver Diner. read more
