This Eggspectation (based out of Montreal) diner location was very impressive! It has a very modern interior design and is quite a large restaurant. It is located at the bottom of the office building in Merriweather. You can't go wrong with food choices here - they're all amazing (but pricey). My favorite thing here is the lyonnaise style potatoes, which are thinly sliced and fried potatoes with an onion garnish. My French toast was so soft and delicious. The eggs were warm and delicious. Unfortunately, the bacon was thick and chewy. I sent it back and got sausage instead - which was much better. The service was wonderful - the server was very responsive to our needs and did not rush us.

I keep coming back to Eggspectation in Columbia, and it never disappoints. It's become my go-to spot for both breakfast and brunch. The food is consistently great and the vibe is always welcoming. My absolute favorite order is the chicken and waffles paired with a café mocha. The waffles are perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and the chicken is always well-seasoned and juicy. The mocha is the perfect complement, rich, smooth, and just the right amount of indulgent. I also highly recommend the shrimp and crab omelette. Super flavorful, packed with seafood, and cooked just right every time. One extra perk: if you sign up for their newsletter, you get a free pancake on your birthday, which is such a nice little bonus. Overall, this place has become a staple for me. Great food, reliable quality, and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

This new location is really nice ! A bit hard to find when following my GPS but maybe just me. It has an open concept, airy and bright, thanks to all the wide windows around. The food is really good too! My dish - Crab & shrimp Benedict was super yummy ! This different take on the classic eggs Benedict took it to another very satisfying level . The cheesy grits, the crunchy crab cakes & shrimp , the perfect eggs & hollandaise sauce - a definite winner! My friend's dish was the smoked salmon Benny, also delicious . A good portion of smoked salmon with cream cheese topped with poached eggs on a croissant & of course the hollandaise sauce! This was a close second Our server "BK" was very attentive, checked on us often & quite charming! This place is definitely a place to go again & again! **A note to the manager, the ladies restroom was a bit messy ( my friend & I visited it separately at different times, 2 hours apart) . Toilet paper on the floor in the stalls & paper towels also scattered on the floor around the sink area & trash can

Went for lunch on Saturday with my mom. The wait was quick and the food was delicious. My mom's first time there and she loved it. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We will make Eggspectation our new weekend lunch spot.

I recently visited with a party of five, and we had a fantastic experience! We got seated right away, which was really nice. The staff was welcoming and the overall vibe was friendly. If you're planning to visit, come hungry as the portion sizes are huge and definitely worth the price. I ordered the southwest omelette. It was delicious. Note of caution: the jalapenos that come with the dish are very spicy, so if you are not a fan of spicy food, be careful! Not pictured but we ordered the toluca poutine for the group as an appetizer. The sauce complemented the dish perfectly and tied all the flavors together!

GUYS GET THE GARLIC BREAD. It was so good, super flavorful! My parents thought it was too salty, but I think it was good and a great starter. The chicken and waffles were amazing, loaded up on the chicken -- you have to put hot sauce on it too, so good. Our service was slow, prob because the bartender was also our server so he seemed busy-ish. The side potatoes are also highly recommended. The set up was cute with nature-y vibes and lots of big windows and tables for small and large groups.

The service was great. My chicken schnitzel with carrots, arugula, and mashed potatoes was both comforting and light. The interior design had a modern vibe -- a huge difference from the eclectic decor I knew years ago. The creme brûlée was a bit burnt for my liking but overall the dessert was rich and delicious! The updated menu gave me reasons to come back and I'm glad I came!

A breakfast for the senses. The fluffy pesto omelet was stuffed with crab meat and shrimp, crispy potatoes, fresh greens, silky smoked salmon with a bite of red onions, capers and a buttery croissant. Pure breakfast bliss! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The ambiance was lively. Lots of conversation with great food. The service was great! Our waitress made sure we were satisfied and made sure our beverages were in rotation consistently.

We've been to this location twice now, both times came on a weekday with no reservation and we were seated immediately. The inside is spacious and modern. The outside has a cute patio however you're surrounded by high rise business offices and I got bit up by mosquitos. Since the restaurant is tucked into a business park, parking lot space may be scarce. There are parking garages walking distance though. Eggspectation has an extensive menu with something for everyone. They have single, 1/2 carafe, and whole carafe mimosas, as well as other brunch cocktails. I enjoyed my chicken and waffles, the chicken pieces were large and the waffle was fluffy. The breakfast platter was good, they were flexible with substitutions as well. Overall eggspectation was a great date spot. I'd recommend them for classic comfort egg focused food, great service, and a sophisticated yet warm atmosphere!

The New concept "Eggspecation" We love the place, service.l and the food. There is a pretty big inside and outside area. You can find something for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The plates pretty filling! We took American breakfast and Southern Sunrise. Mimosa and coffee.

Eggspectation is such a beautiful spot -- open, airy, and stylish with a relaxed but elevated vibe. It feels like a little slice of SoCal right in the Merriweather District. The vibe and service were both top notch -- super welcoming, attentive, and just a fun place to hang out whether you're brunching or grabbing drinks. Speaking of drinks -- prices were totally reasonable, which was a nice surprise for such a trendy spot. And the gooey bread? Absolutely incredible. Warm, sticky, indulgent -- an instant favorite. Already looking forward to coming back. Perfect spot for a weekend brunch or casual date night!

We went here for our parents anniversary, we were a group of 8. It was good, we were waitlisted for 30 minutes. It did go over the 39 minutes threshold of the waiting time but they assured us that they were just fixing the table for us. We had different entrees. Everyone loves their food. I had a good amount of my salmon. And my son had steak frites. It was good i had a taste of it but it could have been juicier. It was good amount of food. Huge amount of it.

Obsessed with this new spot in the Merriweather District! Eggspectation has such a cute California vibe -- bright, airy, and full of natural light. It's the kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. Let's talk about the Gooey Goose Bread... it is INSANELY GOOD. Like, can't-stop-eating-it level good. Sweet, sticky, perfectly warm -- a must-order. Entrees were around $20 per dish, which felt totally fair for the portion size and quality. Great value overall. It does get really packed on weekends, so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. So happy to have this place nearby -- it's a perfect brunch addition to the area! Will definitely be back.

Brunch at Elliott's Craft Kitchen: A Promising Start With a Few Missed Beats…read more.. I recently visited Elliott's Craft Kitchen a fairly new spot that my group of four decided to try out for brunch. We were hoping for a fresh experience, but our visit turned out to be a mixed bag. Ambiance and First Impressions... When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, which was a bit of a head-scratcher for brunch time. Even though we could hear staff chatting in the back, it took a good five to eight minutes before anyone came out to seat us. Once we were seated, we noticed the lighting was so dim that we actually had to whip out our phones just to read the menu. Not exactly the cozy brunch vibe we were hoping for. The Food: Hits and Misses... On to the food. We started with the cream of crab soup, which was just okay--nothing to write home about. The Brussels sprouts were a bit of a letdown. They were tiny and mostly just fried leaves rather than the hearty sprouts we expected. So if you're imagining those classic roasted Brussels sprouts, this wasn't it. The chicken and waffles were decent in flavor, although the presentation could have used some polish. The pita bread for the crab dip could have been toasted or something more firm and doesn't taste like it was immediately pulled from a bag. Surprisingly, the star of the meal ended up being something as simple as the French fries. They were really tasty and stood out more than some of the fancier dishes. Service and the Final Stretch... Our server was kind and polite, which we appreciated. But the big hiccup came at the end. Their payment system went down, and we ended up waiting over 30 minutes just to settle the bill. After sitting for about 15 minutes we informed our server that we would like to wait in the lounge area to get more comfortable as I understand.... things happen. Although while we waited for about 20 minutes there were no offers of water or anything to make the wait less awkward (not to mention asking for payment without even presenting a bill). It felt like they were more focused on turning the table than making sure we were okay during the delay. Although maybe it was an awkward start to the morning. I will say our server did her best to work things out with the technology she was given. So, I still provided her a fair tip, not her fault. Value for Money... In terms of pricing, it felt pretty average overall, but there were a few eyebrow-raisers. For instance, the avocado toasted croissant--topped with over-easy eggs, baby spinach, and Grana Padano--was $19, which felt a bit steep for what it was. In comparison, a pork schnitzel dish was around $21. So, while the pricing wasn't outrageous, some items definitely made me pause and question the value. Overall Thoughts... In the end, my experience at Elliott's Craft Kitchen was a bit of a letdown. So I'm surprised by some of the reviews (maybe because it was not dinner). While there were a few highlights (like the fries and a well-made Old Fashioned), the service hiccups and the underwhelming dishes mean I'd probably think twice before going back. Definitely not for brunch but I would really consider Dinner after some more reviews. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks as they get more established.

We made a last-minute decision to try for some of the nightly jazz (except Monday) at 18th & 21st on a Friday evening (Oct 2025), hip-ly named for the prohibition amendment and repeal :-) There's a free parking garage right across from the entrance of the building they share with a sister restaurant, Cured. We arrived in the bright seasonally-decorated welcoming lobby about 7:50pm. We ought to have made reservations, but in under 10min, the reception staff took us to the more intimate room towards the back where we were seated at at the bar, which is really what we wanted. When we arrived, the 6pm jazz band had just gone on break, so we felt free to chat with friendly regulars and with the bar staff. They have a changing list of ten craft beers from $6 to $21, plus one $6 non-alcoholic brew. Five of the $14-$35 per-glass vintage wines from their list of 17 are preserved with the "corovin" system that keeps air out, so they are never "corked". We focussed on their list of 11 crafted $13-$22 cocktails plus 5 non-alcoholic ones, all made with quality ingredients, each naming the staff member(s) (and guests) who formulated the recipe! We found Alex's $16 Fernetinez sublimely sweet: of bitter fernet amaro, Frederick-based locally-sourced award-winning McClintock One Last Time gin (exclusive for 18th&21st), smooth Luxardo liqueur, and a sweet vermouth. We loved the aroma and flavor of the classic Smoked Old Fashioned of bourbon from Kentucky's 10th-oldest distillery, Green River, moved to a mild well-rounded sweetness by brown sugar simple syrup, smoked in front of me by Mike (if i remember), with added richness from smoky bitters. They have a creative menu of $30 to $65 entrees, plus salads, small plates, apps, and sides, and they have a changing menu of small plates. We really hadn't planned on eating, but we couldn't resist. The $17 duck bao buns had thin tender filets with a sweet lightly-salty apricot-soy glaze and a tangy crunchy pickled cucumber slaw on a soft folded yeasted slightly-sweet white-flour bun. The $12 pair of fried fresh-tasting oysters were sweet and juicy with a light-flavored crunchy crust. They were so yummy, and easy to enjoy with our cocktails. Rodney Kelly's jazz band was excellent, playing with spirit, joking with each other and the audience, even staging a song or two with a skilled member of the restaurant staff. Afterwards we had brief moments with some of the band members, like an intimate jazz club. Later in the evening, i also had a Turkish Sunset, a Manhattan-variation created in a collaboration among the staff and a guest (Well-done Ozzie!). I love Elijah Craig, and wanted to try their dry toasted rye, with housemade allspice dram syrup, Small Hands grenadine, and bitters. By now, i felt very much at home with the staff, and when i learned that one of them had helped formulate this beverage, i confided that its amazing complexity was, for me, just a touch too dry. Alex (if i remember) considered the ingredients and the target flavors, and added just a touch of a sweet lemony liqueur, perfectly complimenting the recipe's flavors! Real-time crafting goes above and beyond, Thank you! (And when they next update the menu, maybe they'll have a custom option named for me :-)

She disliked us from the very start, it seemed, walking over unpleasantly, talking in almost a whisper, never introducing herself, no "you're welcome" to follow our "thank yous", and she never brought us silverware. (The food runner did) When we flagged her to ask for napkins, she said nothing, just spun around with unecessary attitude, came back, left them on the table, and walked off. When she finally refilled our water after refilling the couple's next to us. I said thank you as she poured, but she slammed the glass down, didn't say "you're welcome" and walked away. The couple next to us engaged us again, letting us know this wasn't all in our heads. We really tried to give grace thinking she was tired, but it was so unpleasant, we requested the manager instead of enjoying a dessert we were looking forward to. The manager and food runners were phenomenal! Adam, the manager, listened to us as well as the couple next to us who also saw her rudeness, and they even went as far as letting Adam know we were being really pleasant, and for some reason she just wasn't respectful to us. And please understand, all we wanted was basic respect and a pleasant meal. Sadly, that's not what we got. I have never experienced such nastiness, especially when we weren't being complicated customers. We sent nothing back, didn't complain about stuff, etc. I'm so grateful for the couple next to us for not just noticing, but for trying to help salvage our awful experience and speaking up when the manager came over. Thank you, kind strangers. As for Adam, thank you for listening and presenting us with a gift card. I am so put off by this experience, I can't imagine using it, but I'm grateful for your kindness. It really meant a lot.

Everything I ordered had great flavor and didn't need to add anything extra. The pepperoni pizza was topped with what appeared to be basil and diced tomatoes that were a little sweet and for me, that was surprisingly perfect as I don't normally like tomatoes. The crust was also cooked perfectly. It looked like they used tortillas, but I'm sure they used something similar because it didn't appear to be typical pizza dough (to me). The salmon had a delicious flavor. I squeezed a bit of the lemon onto it to enhance the flavor and it was a solid choice. It came with little whole gold potatoes and green beans. The dill-mustard sauce that it came with tasted like Dijon mustard to me, but I didn't need it, so I ate the salmon as is. Even though I was kind of full, I decided to try one of their mini desserts. Which I think are the perfect size and more places should offer items like this. I got the Cookies n' Cream and took home their Oatmeal Cream Pie cookie. They were both delicious. I believe the bartender's name was Kammie (?) and she was very helpful and attentive when I needed her. I would definitely visit again.

Have been coming here for dinner and happy hour…read more Food has been great, delicious, decent portions, nice plating, fresh ingredients. Classy and comfortable atmosphere, fairly clean. Inconsistent in service quality...most of times we received attentive and friendly service, BUT we have also experienced not so friendly services at times, mainly from bar area. Wasn't sure if those rude servers were just talk like that or only towards to our party. Recommend management to look into it and apply necessary enforcement. Located as part of mall of Columbia , therefore Parking is definitely not an issue. Can get packed at times, might need to walk a bit.
