It's clear they take pride in their little establishment. It is small, so be sure to reserve if you can! I wasn't as fond of the house sauce as I am at other places, and some of the crab pieces were a bit hollow. What it lacked in some spots, it made up in others; tons of variety, like poutine and pasta and salads. A solid choice for the west end, but if you're willing to go to brampton or toronto, there are other spots to consider.

But this place, located in a plaza on the southeast corner of Mavis & Eglinton, dispelled any negative notions I had about seafood boil restaurants. The place was very cozy, as myself and my three other lunch companions fit into a booth. We arrived right when the place opened, but soon space was getting limited as the lunch rush came to pass. And we could see why throughout our meal. We all ordered non-alcoholic mojitos first, with our choice of fruit syrup flavour; I selected pineapple. Then we each ordered our respective boil buckets; I went with shrimp and crawfish with corn and potatoes in the restaurant's namesake sauce. The servers brought the boil bags and emptied the contents onto our place, providing a dizzy aroma of spices, oil and garlic that would remain on our fingers all day. We also bought extra servings of rice to sop up the leftover sauce after our seafood was consumed. My shrimps and crawfish (which I haven't had in some time) were all finger-licking delicious, thanks to the Seau de Crabe sauce that infused every bit of meat inside the crustaceans. I would go back for future visits, seeing as how my family loves seafood, and it's not too far from our place in Mississauga!

Service & Atmosphere: Five Stars The service here was truly exceptional... super quick, genuinely friendly, and so very kind. From seating to check out, the staff was attentive and really made the experience a pleasure. The interior is decorated well with a fun, slightly nautical vibe, but my absolute favorite feature was the artistic touch on the way to the restroom. There are these vibrant wall paintings that are clearly designed to be photo ops, and I loved that they encouraged patrons to snap a picture. It's those little details that really elevate the atmosphere! The Captain's Boil: Good, but Different Now, to the food. Full disclosure: I lived in Georgia for 12 years, and nothing is ever going to beat a seasoned, authentic Florida crab boil in my mind. However, this boil is pretty darn good in its own right. I went with the Non-Spicy Captain Boil (which is a mixed seafood option) and loaded it up with lobster, potatoes, and an egg. The seasoning was flavorful and well-balanced, though it leaned a little less toward the heavy Cajun spice blend I'm used to. It delivered a scrumptiously satisfying seafood experience. Everything was cooked perfectly the 1.5lb lobster was tender, and the potatoes soaked up the sauce so very nicely. I would definitely go back the next time I'm craving a seafood boil.

There was plenty of wait staff on site but communication between staff was quite poor. No one ever came by to see if we needed anything or to ask if we wanted additional drinks or the like. So we found ourselves having to constantly hail wait staff. A large portion of the weekend buffet was seafood. You would expect that when serving lobster and crab the tableware would include for seafood crackers. This is not the case. I asked for seafood crackers from two different wait staff and was advised they didn't have any. So I went to the matre d' and asked, she went into the back and brought some out for our table. If you serving lobster and crab, the restaurant should either provide crackers or pre- cut the claws ready to eat. With regard to the food, I would have thought they would have served some rolls or bread but we had to ask for this special. As well, most all the food was cold. So all in all, I expected more but a 3 star rating is about all I would give.

Not sure who decided that was a good idea. Interesting because they did come around to tell us about their wine options. The quantity and variety of the buffet was fine, efficiency quite good and wait staff were all kind, however the quality of the offerings was lacking. I would put the actual food part of the meal in the mediocre category.

At first glance, the place is very simple. The décor isn't fancy, and the seating is pretty basic. But honestly, once the food arrives, you don't care what kind of chair you're sitting on. You're too busy enjoying the food. The food is the star of the show, and it always has been. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, the protein servings are good, and the service has always been good whenever we visited. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. After my dad passed away, we decided to go there in his honor because it was one of his favorite places. The moment we walked through the door, my mom started crying. She and my dad had come there so many times over the years that being there without him was just too much for her. We sat down, ordered our food, and tried our best, but my mom was a mess. In the end, we took the food to go because she couldn't stay. Since then, we've tried a few times. We would drive there, park the car, look at each other, and then leave without going in. It's hard to explain unless you've lost someone you love. Sometimes a restaurant becomes part of your family's story, and every corner holds a memory. I miss the food. I miss the atmosphere. But most of all, I miss the memories of sitting there with my dad. Even as I'm writing this review, my heart hurts a little. That's not because of the restaurant it's because this place was such a happy part of our lives. The food was always amazing, the service was always good, and they became part of some of our family's best memories. Thank you for giving us those memories. They will always stay with us.

Service this fast, food this good, and a vibe this classy? Honestly, I'm convinced they secretly have a teleportation device in the kitchen. Afghan Flame isn't just a restaurant--it's a cheat code for happiness.

Food (4/5) - it has a very extensive selection of items on the menu including the featured Peking Duck and other somewhat upscale mains, soups and appetizers. I was there alone at lunchtime so decided to try out their dim sum menu. - Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings) - they were good... sizeable and nice flavour... cooked properly. - Shumai - was also good... sizeable, good flavour, nice tobiko garnish and cooked properly. - Spring Rolls - average overall but sizeable as well. Service (4.25/5) - was solid - attentive, friendly and came back for check-ins. Atmosphere (4.25/5) - as mentioned, this place is quite big inside and they have done a good job of maintaining a semi-upscale look and feel to it. Overall (4.25/5) - thought this was a pretty good experience and I would definitely repeat to try out more items on the menu.
