Good service, Poor Food. The Kitchen staff is not up to par for a restaurant trying to be this upscale. Especially at the prices they charge. We ordered 2-$30 Steak Dinners (Med). My wife's steak was not even close. It was RARE. As in: I highly doubt it reached 70 degrees internal temp. It was cold. My steak was Barely cooked to rare. The steaks were accompanied with green beans/carrots that I doubt saw more than 30 seconds in the sauce pan. They were basically raw. IMO, If you can't cook a $30 steak to order. We stayed at the Pier B, and stopped at Silos for breakfast. We both got the western, and were very happy. Good portions for $10 (not as good as a divey place), and the hash browns were the cheesey casserole kind. Delicious. read more

I wish it was possible to post two reviews for Silos, but apparently I can not do that. We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant, but a terrible experience at the bar. I would give the restaurant four stars and I'd give the bar one. The terrible experience wins. That's why I am giving them two stars. We were there for dinner two days ago, and it was great. The service was very good as was the food. We sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful view of the harbor and lift bridge. I feel Silos is one of the best restaurants in Duluth, and I have been to many. Now about the bar: We first wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink. It was fairly busy, but there were two free stools for my wife and I. However, we sat there for a good ten minutes, being ignored by the bartender. I finally stopped him and asked if he was going to serve us, and he gave me a lame excuse, no apology. That is unacceptable, and I told him so. I'm sure the rest of the bar heard me. Finally, the other, obviously more experienced, bartender came by and apologized. That's all I wanted - for someone to say they were sorry for the bad service. Lame excuses are not OK. Stay away from the bar, but the restaurant is good. read more

For breakfast...GREAT spot. Awesome view of the lift bridge. Outside seating is available if the weather is nice. Had the granola which was great. My son had the chocolate chip pancakes and scarfed them down. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was trendy but casual. read more

Service was not good - had to wait too long for everything. Although this is not due to the wait staff as they were working hard - it's a management issue of resources and training. Food was average at best - there are just so many other good options in Duluth for fantastic food. Go eat somewhere else and then go to Pier B for the view and a drink and sit on the patio. read more

Food sub-standard-Slow service. Unidentifiable hair in a burger that I wish we had saved for the Health Department. Even after talking to mgmt. nothing was done to discount the bill or even address the issue. Would not send anyone to eat here, at what could have been a lovely dining experience due to the location. Food was good drinks were good also, our server and bartender were nice. but! one issue ruined it completely for me. We experienced something soooo disturbing. We are in town for business. As we were getting back in we witnessed 2 kitchen employees getting high in their truck and came out of the truck tweaking sooooo bad! one ran straight Into the kitchen and the one that was super twitching ran to another car to make a sale and went back into the kitchen to work. idc what you put in your body but I don't want to see it. we complained to a manger and he knew exactly who we were talking about. But really all we were told was that " I better not catch them red handed". like really???? if your not going to do anything about it but at least make me feel like you are concerned. that ruined this stay for me, we wont even go downstairs to eat at the restaurant anymore. thank god its the last night. read more

Food is tasteless and services sucks incredibly. My meal came prepared incorrectly. When it came back same. This involved an allergy. They were told it was an allergy. The waitress said she was highest ranking manager in building. What a sorry state for a restaurant with such high prices. Don't go here. The view is not worth the bad food and bad service. read more

Saw this new hotel with restaurant advertised on a train ride we took in Duluth on Sunday. When I went to the mobile website to make reservations, it said they did not have a 6pm open for 6pm so I called the restaurant directly. After a bit of hesitation, I was told they could find us a low top table at that time. When we arrived (and during our entire time) there was plenty of seats available (high and low) for 4 adults and 2 children. The server was friendly but mediocre in providing services (shouldn't have to ask for water refills on empty glasses or other beverages). Food...onion rings, salad, and soup we're good. Kids pizza were charred too much and the fruit cup was forgotten as part of order. Burgers ordered as medium rare were medium to medium well like the other one that was ordered. Fries were cold and most likely sat on the plate under the heating lamp while the server gave instructions to the cook line staff about what was needed on each plate. It is too bad...this place is nicely done but there needs to be a management to improve food and service. If we do get a response from the restaurant on this review, I will contact you with more information. read more

I'm giving this restaurant one star because out of two experiences on the same day the negative one is still bothering me 24 hours later. After enjoying the Bentlyville lights with my son, we went into the restaurant to have dessert. After being seated we were ignored for 10 minutes. My son approached a server at the register to help us. This server was rude from the start. After giving my order for a dessert to go, we were forgotten. We sat for 20 minutes this time. Another, kinder employee finally asked us if we had been helped. She ended up getting my dessert and letting our server know we needed the check. Our check was then thrown on our table with a sneer from the original server with no explanation or apology attached. This was very upsetting for both me and my son. One bad server should not spoil the whole restaurant but we elected not to have breakfast the next morning there before checking out of the attached hotel and may not ever eat there again. read more

We were extremely disappointed with our dining experience August 1, 2018. We had a wonderful table for 4 by the window with great views of the lift bridge and water. The 2 appetizers we ordered were wonderful (Artichoke dip and Pretzel bites) and our waiter, August, was pleasant. That is where the pleasure ended. We ordered a New York Strip but they were out of it. So we settled on Filet Mignon, Sirloin, Walleye and Bourbon Chicken. The Filet was supposed to be medium well but it was bloody in the center. The Sirloin was supposed to be rare (even had a stick in it that said rare) and it arrived well done. The chicken was so dry I had to ask for a dipping sauce and the walleye was small. We ordered 2 Key Lime cocktails but they were out of the lime ingredient so we ordered Caramel Apple cocktails that were terrible with a strong apple cider flavor and no caramel flavor. My friend sent hers back and I tried to drink mine but couldn't finish it. My other friend ordered a brandy manhatten and it was so bad he went back to the bar and had the bartender make another one in front of him. He couldn't drink that one either and had us all taste it. It tasted off, the drink was too red colored and was overpowered by an ingredient we could not identify that tasted bad. My friend had a reaction when he got home and we believe it was probably that ingredient in the manhatten. We would go back for appetizers and the atmosphere and order only beer, wine or a simple cocktail. We will never eat a dinner there again! The bill (with tip) was $240.00. Ouch! read more

Well, to start things off, let's talk about the parking. It's nice, you can expect a walk but the view almost makes it enjoyable. Walking in you notice the art on the wall and the amazing view of the lift bridge. However, this is where the positives, unfortunately, come to an abrupt end. We were seated quickly and the serving staff was by no means bad, but it just wasn't quite friendly. Although the food did come quick, it just... it just simply wasn't good. We started off by getting the cheese sticks, or whatever they call them there, and they looked and tasted like something you get at a fast food drive through. They were not "bad" just not worth the 10 dollars I had to spend on them. I ordered a simple planish burger and fries, although it came quite quickly it was not worth what I had to dish out of my wallet to get it. The burger was quite overcooked and based on other reviews I have read, this is not uncommon. I do have to say the fries that came along were very good. The bread was different then most I have I do not think it was any better or worse than most, just different. OK, I should stop rambling, to sum up, my experience in just a few words, I would say. The food is very mediocre and you can get much more for much less other places. read more

Terrible service! It took forever to take our drink order, to get our drinks, take our food order and our food to arrive. It didn't seem too busy, there were open tables all over. Our server messed up 2 out of 4 of our meals, was rude and snotty when confronted about it too. Told us it was asparagus that came with our meals but they were green beans as well, which wasn't a huge deal. This was all after a 1 hour wait to get a table. I'm not sure we'll be back again. Was also given another drink thinking we ordered another, which we did not and was again rude when confronted about it. The server said, we could keep the drink and didn't have to pay for it. We weren't about to pay for something we didn't order so I didn't quite see the relevance with the comment. The server also later said, "well, at least you got a free drink out it." And said a not-so sincere apology right before we were to get our bill to tip! Something need to be done about the service! We didn't have anywhere else to go to eat since we were there to see Bentleyville and why we chose Pier B hotel with Silos attached. read more
