Oh me, oh my! Yes, what a find in a desolate location. Well was with a crew including two little ones trying to find a cool location to let kids (2 yo) run around while getting a little breather and maybe a bite to eat drink. Just really stumbled on Silly Al's and yes, what an oasis. $1 draft beer! with at least 4 or was it 5 different varieties! Sure it was Bud, Bud light, Coors etc. but what a great deal and cool breather on a drive to Phoenix from Los Angeles. The large combination pizza was a winner as well which included sausage, pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, onions and they were willing to hold the bell peppers due to an intolerance in one in our group. Large bar/lounge/sports bar/diner all in one. Karaoke on some night we we're there. Lots of tv screens for all you sports fans. Stage for live music and entertainment. Waitresses very cool and accoodating, plenty of parking and very kid friendly. This is a worthwhile stop for those cruising through this town. read more

If you have been to Quartzsite, you know two things in low demand: car washes and pizza. This was honestly a nice hidden gem. Went to visit my Gram and Uncle B and ended up singing at the bar and drinking beers with the locals. Solid food and the ranch was amazing! So this local, hole in the wall spot def falls into the category of unexpectedly REALLY good. I'll be honest, I had my reservations about the place when I walked in and sat down, but that notion was quickly dismissed. Our waitress (blonde gal whose name I cannot remember) was extremely nice. She was also very good about describing the food and stating on too of our refills. So far so good. My dad and I ordered the meat lovers pizza w/bacon and it did not disappoint! The crust wasn't too doughy/chewy. It had just the right amount of crispiness to it. The pizza wasn't falling apart despite all the toppings on it. I feel like it was perfectly made. It didn't even feel that heavy (but def satisfying!) I originally picked this spot out because another person who lived in CA was passing through (like myself) and mentioned how good it was. I hope this review helps someone else who is looking for a place to grab food in this small town. I had heard several amazing things about Silly Al's for years. I tried it in 2017 and was appalled. How could so many people like this undercooked pizza? Dough was still super gooey and not in the good way. Fast forward to 2019, we relocated our business to Quartzsite and my two fatty coworkers decided to try it against my opinions and they pretty much told me I was crazy and convinced me to try it. It was every bit delicious. I think I go there 3 times a month now lol. Anna, is fabulous! She was our server last night. A review on Google Local once said it was the "best hand-tossed pizza within 100 miles". Given that it's probably the -only- hand-tossed pizza within 100 miles... that isn't necessarily saying much. From what we could tell, this was the one and only open non-fast-food restaurant on our trip after leaving the greater Palm Springs area and before getting into the greater Phoenix area. We tried a couple other places in Quartzsite that got decent reviews, first... turns out pretty much all of Quartzsite closes down in September, who knew? So we stopped here, and they were at least open. Food was... decent. I could get the same amount of pizza at the same level of quality (totally edible, but nothing amazing) for probably half the cost locally, but you're paying for it being out in the middle of nowhere and not really having other choices, I get that. It was significantly better than Burger King, anyway, albeit also significantly less cheap. Apparently you shouldn't go there at around 7 on a Thursday, though, unless you want to hear old people singing karaoke country songs (they were setting something up when we got there. Turns out that's what it was, we discovered as we were about halfway through our pizza. Surprisingly, most of them could actually sing pretty well, but still. Old people + country songs. We were honestly just looking for a place to stop for lunch on our way back to LA from Prescott, AZ. Silly Al's was the only place other than fast food that seemed to be open so we decided to try it. It was really great! First of all, they do a good job of keeping the heat out. It was nice and cool and dim inside. Next, we appreciated the gluten free options that were available since my friend is gluten free. Finally, and most importantly, the pizza was delicious. We had a large spinach alfredo split between 3 of us and we were quite content when we were finished. My only complaint is that the pizza took a really long time to make, but it seems understandable given how fresh it tasted. This a great place to stop if you're roadtripping between CA and AZ :) read more

Every time we are close to Quartzsite, AZ, we stop at Silly Al's for a sandwich, pizza, salad or Calzones. Today we had a pastrami sandwich and a calzone. They were both very tasty. My calzone had lots of cheese just the way I like it. I have never had a sandwich I didn't like there. Also, their salads are always fresh. Perfect stop on our way back to CA. My boyfriend and I will be stopping at Silly Al's every time we pass through, from now on. Friendly service, colorful characters, neat atmosphere, and yummy pizza! I ordered the "mini" personal veggie pizza and a side salad. The veggies on this pizza were piled high! There really was no need for the side salad, but I ate it and enjoyed it, nonetheless; the blue cheese dressing tasted homemade and had big chunks of blue cheese throughout. The pizza came with pesto sauce instead of red sauce, which was a wonderful surprise to my taste buds! There were random "crunchies" with each bite, and come to find out they put cashews on the pizza, too! At first I thought there were walnuts or pine nuts on the pizza because they tasted so buttery! The cashews were a fantastic addition to the pizza The Strong garlic flavor in the pizza was also on point!! On the quartzsite scale of restaurants, this restaurant is definitely a three (would have been a two elsewhere). Pros: salad exceeded expectations (was an actual lettuce blend instead of the iceberg I was expecting), server was attentive Cons: pizza (bruschetta pizza) had way too much garlic and way too much sauce. Also, the bathroom was slightly below what one would encounter at a rest stop. There were no toilet seat covers, barely a latch to hold the door closed (any voyeur could easily sneak a peak), and your knees were pushed right up against the door. The decor lends itself to more than one Instagram photo. It's kitschy look could be a pro or con depending on how you see it. read more

We stopped in Quartzide for a meal while on our way to California. Since we were in a hurry we had a sandwich instead of pizza. The skinny dip (aka french dip) was average in taste. Not very impressive, but it is pizza place. The place is decorated in Western decor and has a couple of pools tables which makes the place inviting. If you are up late, as in after 8:00pm in Quartzite, and do not want to go to a fast food joint, then you have two options, and this is one of them. I was in this town over the weekend on a job and we went here for both nights we stayed. I ordered the vegetarian pizza, which was pretty good. In my opinion, it has way too many onions on it, so I suggest ordering without any at all. This is a typical vegetarian pizza, which means it is basically a supreme pizza without meat. The difference being that Al's has cashews on it, which provides an interesting texture. But the quality of the pizza is actually pretty good. Good ingredients and flavor. This town is not known for its variety, but you can find Amber Bock beer which is pretty tasty, as opposed to your usual no flavor American conglomerate beers. Aside from their Pizza, everything is at a very low price, so I was surprised to see the bill for some of the items. The downside is that there is karaoke, and it is a little loud. Also, that there arent really any other vegetarian options. For the amount of "young hippies" that come into town (as described by some of the locals), I would think that they would like to cater to that crowd since the towns income relies so heavily on out of town visitors and "snowbirds". read more

What a happy little surprise this was, in the gloom of out-of-season Quartzsite! My wife had a pizza craving, so we ordered her a pizza. When I went in to get it, I was very impressed by the interior of the restaurant, which just shouted popular, eclectic, and interesting. While I waited I had a good look at the menu, which turned out to be much more than pizza. They offer a wide range of Italian foods. Judging by the large and packed restaurant full of happy people, this is a great sit-down restaurant and social gathering place as well. We have not tried the rest of the menu, but my (very picky) wife proclaimed that the pizza was excellent. We would love to have a sit-down meal at this place, but unfortunately I am gluten-intolerant, so it is not possible. read more

We stopped at this place on our way back to Los Angeles from Tucson...and we're so glad we did! Our server, Ella was great: attentive, engaging and so sweet. Al was also a nice guy! The ambiance of this place is cute and definitely gives you old country town vibes. We ordered the Greek salad which was delicious and a large half Mediterranean Pizza (with added chicken) and half Bruschetta Pizza.
