FUN FUN FUN! We have heard of this place but it just never worked out schedule-wise. They are understandably closed all summer and only open during weekends when its cooler. We FINALLY made it!! We had lunch - SPLIT a lunch, I should say .... they give you PLENTY of food! Beer was cold. The band was fantastic. The women's bathroom is a MUST SEE. We found a corn hole setup behind the stage where the band was playing. You just have to go exploring! There is a lot to see & do and the views are amazing! (Again... go check out the women's bathroom! ) You dont need a 4WD or off-road vehicle. A 4-door sedan will do just fine but you will need to go slower. If you can work this into your schedule, its DEFINITELY worth a visit! read more

Desert Bar outside of Parker Arizona is an experience not to be missed. It's a rough unpaved road ride for over 3 miles to get there off the highway, but it's totally worth it. Although I don't suggest going there when it's raining unless you have a four-wheel-drive. Also, make sure that you go to the bathroom before you go and before you drive back. The bumps and rocks can really take their toll on your body. You drive across uninhabited raw desert until you come upon this large complex of buildings that looks like something out of Mad Max and the Thunder Dome. Antique cars, vintage rusty items from what looks like the wild West, and aged wooden buildings add to a fun ambience with more to see than you can possibly absorb in one visit. The place is surprisingly busy considering their location in the middle of nowhere. But the service is great and the food and drinks are refreshing and tasty. There's usually a band playing on the stage. I've been there several times and it's always a good band although they're different every time. The ambience is eclectic and fun and great for a bunch of friends to go to and just have a good time or just to sit and people watch all by yourself. read more

The road there was not too bad, we made it in a jeep grand Cherokee and saw a mustang driving in on the way out if anyone's curious on how difficult the off roading is. No internet which was nice to disconnect and listen to the live band while having a few drinks. The view was awesome from just about anywhere you sit, but FYI it's cash only at the bar and the food stand. We'll be back again but we'll try it out with the ORV read more

The Desert Bar has been on my radar for a while, and I finally got to experience it this past weekend. The road to the bar is very scenic (but dusty, as you would expect). The place is much bigger than I had anticipated, with lots of tables and seating. Plenty of parking available, too. As many others have noted, it is cash only. I had looked at a menu online before heading out, that turned out to be obsolete - the prices had gone up for sure, and I was relieved to still have enough cash with me. I believe it was $29 for the garlic fries and burger in my photo. Slim pickings for a vegetarian, you'll have to go for fries or one of the desserts. My garlic fries were just ok - there was some sour coating of some kind (lime?) that was way too potent, and they were incredibly salty. But reading other reviews, I think maybe I just had a bad batch. I would give them another try before I rule them out for good. I hear the burger was tasty. The live music was entertaining, not so loud that we couldn't carry a conversation, and they got people dancing. The live entertainment will stop around 5 pm, even though the place closes at 6. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was top-notch, and the decor is very unique and neat. I would 100% go back, and recommend it to others! read more

What a gem! If you like to explore unique and remote venues, you will love this place! It's a few miles out of Parker, located on an old mine, and is "off-grid" without being "gritty". The place is laid out to make the most of the amazing location and views (ladies- make sure you check out the outdoor bathroom)! There is no reception to accept credit cards, so it's cash-only, and they're only open on the weekends (from 12-6 pm), so plan accordingly. The weather is perfect to spend an afternoon there just soaking in the sun and the sounds while having a meal and a beer. The two of us split a burger and fries because the portions are generous. We were visiting the Parker area and wanted to give the Desert Bar a try. A large group of us ventured out the gravel twisted road to find the rustic Desert Bar with the Kicked Outta Cottonwood Band jamming music. What an excellent experience we had. It had stormed the day before so we were cautious about going thinking we might be forced to turn around but luckily we had no problems getting out there & back (other than then bumping road caution: potty before you go) The bar was good but beer selection was limited. We had lunch which was kinda a food truck vibe (walk up order/wait) we order everything from burgers, gyros, chicken strips & fries. There were staff cleaning up but not serving and that's ok. Plenty of seating available. Even the restrooms were nice not what you'd expect from such a remote location. Sorry, no photos as the post no internet/cell access, so didn't think to take my phone. First there are 2 routes to this joint from the highway, one is dirt road with a few wash boards and rocks, we left that way. The way we came in is best described as a trail and your average car will not make it if you go this way. The ride in was a fantastic off roading experience. Once we arrived there were other off road enthusiasts and a pretty good band providing live music. This Desert bar is remote it's making use of at least three large solar arrays that also provide the shaded outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food! We all got burgers of different types and I don't know how you do it but, these all beef patties melted as much as were chewed, they were amazing! Look, if you're looking for white table cloths ans snappy dressed waiters offering the best wine pairings this isn't the place. What you will find is an oasis in the desert terrain for those who embrace a little ruggedness in their lifestyle! read more

Interesting place but definitely not place for your nice car. We were in a Jeep and it was still rough. Seems like an overpriced tourist destination. Beer was $10 per can and hamburger was $20. All Cash. It's free to get in but I would not see it as a place to go and spend all day drinking and eating. T-shirts were $30. read more

If you are in the mood for a DIFFERENT experience, then the Desert Bar is for you. By "different" I don't mean necessarily more interesting, better, exciting or worthwhile. I just mean DIFFERENT. Prices for food and beverages are 'first world' pricy. The music group that played during our visit I would rate as a 3, on a 5-point scale (trust me on this rating...I worked for MTV in the 90's). Best to get there on an off-road or "high profile" vehicle, unless you have heavy duty shocks, deep tread tires and don't mind risking damage to your undercarriage. Amazing oasis in the middle of the Arizona desert. Took a two and a half hour ride through the desert washes to arrive at the Desert Bar a most amazing place in the middle of nowhere. We arrived around 11:30 and beat the crowd. The menu is extensive but we settled on the pulled pork and basket of fries. We added a coke for the driver and glass of wine, $6.50 for me. The sandwich was huge and so glad we shared. The fries come in several varieties but we ordered the basic. As huge sandwich and fries with onions and peppers in the side. read more

We have been here several times. This last time was there last weekend for the season. We really lucked out. Not crowded so plenty of seats and tables available and short wait lines to the food. The live music by the band Wildsky was really good. We have also seen Mudfish here twice. The drinks are reasonably priced, the bartenders are super friendly, and the pours are generous. Only Nikko's was open for food and that made us happy. The Gyro was perfectly done as was the Philly Cheesesteak. We orders a side of garlic forties that fed 4 people. Nice and crispy and just the right amount of fresh chopped garlic. We like riding our side by side to the Desert Variety as it's a nice drive with some nice views including giant Saguaro Cactus. read more

This was the highlight of my recent New Years camping trip. A friend of ours turned us onto this and after talking to the people at River Island about which road to turn on we were on our way. Most cars could make the drive but you will be most comfortable in a truck or 4wheel drive. The Desert Bar is in the middle of nowhere. Its nothing you could ever imagine. I certainly had no idea what I was going to experience. When we reached our destination I thought we were coming up on a mall in the desert because there were so many trucks and cars. Lots of dune buggies and off road jeeps too. When we walked in I was again surprised by how many people this place can fit. Its all outdoors and they have like 8 different areas and levels where you can hang out. Lowest level is the band. This band the day I was there was fantastic and I'm amazed on how they got their band equipment out there without damaging it. Bathrooms are also surprisingly nice. People were cool and employees were efficient and nice. You can buy t-shirts, hats, and hoodies in the bar gift shop. Full bar with pretty stiff drinks. Prices decent. But it is cash only and there is no ATM. They serve basic bar food, burgers, hotdogs and such but I didn't partake. I had a freaking blast here and would love to go again if I didnt live 4 1/2 hours away. One of the most epic places I have ever been. read more

We had a very fun afternoon out at the Desert Bar one Saturday afternoon! It seems like a long drive out there on gravel roads, but it was worth the trip to see it at least one time. Add the Desert Bar to your travel list ASAP. The Desert Bar is located in The Middle of Nowhere, Lake Havasu. While you can get there by car, I'd highly recommend traveling by off road vehicle. You'll find signs leading you to your destination, as well as a caravan of other off road vehicles. This bar is only open during the winter times to escape the heat of the Arizona sun. The entire restaurant is solar powered, and you'll often stumble upon live music on the patio. It's stacked with all your favorite boozy drinks, as well as some yummy bar food - pro tip: order the nachos! A bar in the middle of the desert almost 5 miles off the main highway on a dirt road that will test your kidneys. What an amazing concept and venue. It is an experience like no other. I have been there several times in the past two years and will definitely return. There is always a live band playing 60's / 70's music. The quality of the bands vary but they all play the right music. The food was good. Basic Burger/hot dog menu but high quality. They have a brand new kitchen that is chef quality. I highly recommend a trip off road to this bar. A vehicle with a high ground clearance is optimal for the trip in. read more

This place is awesome! Such a hidden gem! They've got a great bar with a separate area to order/purchase/pickup food. I love that they have live bands playing when they're open. Things to note - their operation is seasonal. The Desert Bar is closed for a good portion of the year. When you do go, because you absolutely should, make sure to bring lots of cash. This place is in the middle of the desert (literally) and there's no service, WiFi, or machines to process credit/debit cards. There also isn't an ATM. I almost forgot - do not take the Jeep trail out unless you're okay with your vehicle getting damaged. You can access the bar via a normal, and frequently travelled, dirt road. Hubby has been talking about this place for a while and we finally made it out there today. After a lot of debate, we lassoed up the group and decided to go by car. We had four toddlers in the group and felt like trailering the RZRs and then riding was quite a gamble. It took us about 2 hours by car from Mohave Valley. The last four miles of dirt is pretty rough (and we were in a Ford F-250 with knobby tires and all) but the kids seemed to enjoy it. What a sight! The place was jam packed with RZRs, Can Ams, dirt bikes, quads and plenty of cars parked everywhere. Once you got inside, it was wall to wall people waiting in long lines for food, drinks and souvenirs. Tables were scattered throughout both levels and you basically have to stalk a table to get seats. I used my kids to snag our group of 14 a table right near the entrance and the bar line. The beer line wasn't too bad the first time, but the second time in line, I waited, easily, a good 20 minutes, which resulted in ordering 13 beers for the sake of not having to get in line again. BTW-beers are cheap, like $3 a can. The food lines were another story. Food took over an hour to be served, burgers, Nik's Greek...it was all quite a wait, and not as cheap. Hubby ordered a large pretzel, regular fries, garlic fries, gyro fries, pulled pork fries, rib eye sandwich and two small bottles of water for $80....the pretzel and sandwich were $17 each! The gyro fries are a must (the sauce really compliments the fries and meat) but the rib eye sandwich was just average as were the other items. The women's bathroom is pretty cool, lol. Stalls were nice and large (when you have two kids, things like this are very important) and it's open with a view overlooking the mountains. There's a lot going on with the crowds of people, music, people watching and everyone is just happy and having a good time. Definitely an experience and a must if you are in the area and have the time. read more
