Very cool place to chill for a hr or so nice staff and cool bands and nice view as well I also enjoyed the food yes a lil pricey but what do you expect they supply music and shade, the chicken club sandwich was really good and the fries they were a lil salty but cooked perfect! Will definitely be back!

Desert Bar outside of Parker Arizona is an experience not to be missed. It's a rough unpaved road ride for over 3 miles to get there off the highway, but it's totally worth it. Although I don't suggest going there when it's raining unless you have a four-wheel-drive. Also, make sure that you go to the bathroom before you go and before you drive back. The bumps and rocks can really take their toll on your body. You drive across uninhabited raw desert until you come upon this large complex of buildings that looks like something out of Mad Max and the Thunder Dome. Antique cars, vintage rusty items from what looks like the wild West, and aged wooden buildings add to a fun ambience with more to see than you can possibly absorb in one visit. The place is surprisingly busy considering their location in the middle of nowhere. But the service is great and the food and drinks are refreshing and tasty. There's usually a band playing on the stage. I've been there several times and it's always a good band although they're different every time. The ambience is eclectic and fun and great for a bunch of friends to go to and just have a good time or just to sit and people watch all by yourself.

This is an over view of the bar.

Very cool places is worth the drive. Suggest a pick up truck or SUV with a little bit higher clearance.

Cool little church outside the bar.

The road there was not too bad, we made it in a jeep grand Cherokee and saw a mustang driving in on the way out if anyone's curious on how difficult the off roading is. No internet which was nice to disconnect and listen to the live band while having a few drinks. The view was awesome from just about anywhere you sit, but FYI it's cash only at the bar and the food stand. We'll be back again but we'll try it out with the ORV

The Desert Bar has been on my radar for a while, and I finally got to experience it this past weekend. The road to the bar is very scenic (but dusty, as you would expect). The place is much bigger than I had anticipated, with lots of tables and seating. Plenty of parking available, too. As many others have noted, it is cash only. I had looked at a menu online before heading out, that turned out to be obsolete - the prices had gone up for sure, and I was relieved to still have enough cash with me. I believe it was $29 for the garlic fries and burger in my photo. Slim pickings for a vegetarian, you'll have to go for fries or one of the desserts. My garlic fries were just ok - there was some sour coating of some kind (lime?) that was way too potent, and they were incredibly salty. But reading other reviews, I think maybe I just had a bad batch. I would give them another try before I rule them out for good. I hear the burger was tasty. The live music was entertaining, not so loud that we couldn't carry a conversation, and they got people dancing. The live entertainment will stop around 5 pm, even though the place closes at 6. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was top-notch, and the decor is very unique and neat. I would 100% go back, and recommend it to others!

Church, but no services are held here.

What a gem! If you like to explore unique and remote venues, you will love this place! It's a few miles out of Parker, located on an old mine, and is "off-grid" without being "gritty". The place is laid out to make the most of the amazing location and views (ladies- make sure you check out the outdoor bathroom)! There is no reception to accept credit cards, so it's cash-only, and they're only open on the weekends (from 12-6 pm), so plan accordingly. The weather is perfect to spend an afternoon there just soaking in the sun and the sounds while having a meal and a beer. The two of us split a burger and fries because the portions are generous. You gotta check this place out!

First there are 2 routes to this joint from the highway, one is dirt road with a few wash boards and rocks, we left that way. The way we came in is best described as a trail and your average car will not make it if you go this way. The ride in was a fantastic off roading experience. Once we arrived there were other off road enthusiasts and a pretty good band providing live music. This Desert bar is remote it's making use of at least three large solar arrays that also provide the shaded outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food! We all got burgers of different types and I don't know how you do it but, these all beef patties melted as much as were chewed, they were amazing! Look, if you're looking for white table cloths ans snappy dressed waiters offering the best wine pairings this isn't the place. What you will find is an oasis in the desert terrain for those who embrace a little ruggedness in their lifestyle!

Great food and service. Very unique location. Live entertainment was good. It says they close at 6 but they start shutting down at 5pm. So plan accordingly. We had pulled chicken and cheese burger with pastrami. So good. Our friends had the brisket sandwich. Great Ambiance!

Tri-tip sandwich (with bell peppers and onions), garlic fries, and root beer float. DELISH!!

The tri-tip sandwich was AMAZING! Also got the garlic fries and a root beer float that did not disappoint!

Very cool place out in the desert/mountains of Parker, Az. Long (5 miles) bumpy dirt road to reach it but well worth it. The whole place runs on solar so hours are limited. Live band, great food, cold beer, and very unique place.

This was the highlight of my recent New Years camping trip. A friend of ours turned us onto this and after talking to the people at River Island about which road to turn on we were on our way. Most cars could make the drive but you will be most comfortable in a truck or 4wheel drive. The Desert Bar is in the middle of nowhere. Its nothing you could ever imagine. I certainly had no idea what I was going to experience. When we reached our destination I thought we were coming up on a mall in the desert because there were so many trucks and cars. Lots of dune buggies and off road jeeps too. When we walked in I was again surprised by how many people this place can fit. Its all outdoors and they have like 8 different areas and levels where you can hang out. Lowest level is the band. This band the day I was there was fantastic and I'm amazed on how they got their band equipment out there without damaging it. Bathrooms are also surprisingly nice. People were cool and employees were efficient and nice. You can buy t-shirts, hats, and hoodies in the bar gift shop. Full bar with pretty stiff drinks. Prices decent. But it is cash only and there is no ATM. They serve basic bar food, burgers, hotdogs and such but I didn't partake. I had a freaking blast here and would love to go again if I didnt live 4 1/2 hours away. One of the most epic places I have ever been.

Ask the Community - The Desert Bar

I see most of the vehicles that come in are 4 x 4's or SUV'S. Can a small economy car make it down the road to get to the bar or is it that bad for a car?

With a great possibility of body damage to the car it would not be recommended. This location was intended for 4x4s and off-roading vehicles.

    Is open in July?

Closed for the summer months opens back up in October

    Is it open?

Yes, My band , The Jam Farmers are playing there Dec31, Jan 1,2, and 3

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes. However, it can be extremely loud and crowded. So only safe if your dog can handle that environment.

May be a dumb question, since it's a BAR, but are kids allowed because they serve food? No biggie, as we'll leave them (teens) at the room.

    Yes, kids are allowed

    Are the drinks reasonably priced?

It really wasn't too bad. You are way back in and just make sure you bring cash!

Before posting, here's a draft you can edit if you'd like:…read more I hate leaving bad reviews, but this experience deserves one. First, let me say that I'm not a high-maintenance traveler. I stay at budget motels like Motel 6 all the time, so I'm not expecting luxury. We stayed at Fox RV Resort last year, so we knew exactly what we were booking--a dated RV with 1990s decor and basic amenities. Last year, our only issue was that the grill had no propane. This year was a completely different story. We arrived on an extremely hot day only to find that the RV had no power. It was unbearably hot inside, and after checking the breakers ourselves, nothing worked. We called the main number, and someone came down to turn the power on. He even acknowledged that it should have been turned on before we arrived. Once we started unpacking, we noticed the back window was covered with a piece of cardboard to block out light. Then we discovered the bathroom smelled like raw sewer. After reading older Yelp reviews, I realized this has apparently been an ongoing issue with this same trailer for years. Next, we found out there was no grill, even though the website advertises one. We had brought a cooler full of food specifically to grill during our stay. We called and were told someone would bring one over. Forty minutes later, still no grill, so my husband called again. The owner answered sounding irritated and basically snapped that it would get there. Later that night, around 9 p.m., the Wi-Fi wasn't working. We weren't upset--we just wanted to make sure there wasn't a switch or something inside the RV that needed to be turned on. Instead of helping us, the owner answered the phone by saying, "Do you know what time it is?" He then went on a rant about how we'd already called twice that day with complaints before telling us to "pack your shit and go." My husband stayed remarkably calm. I honestly would have hung up. The owner also told us, "This isn't the Ritz." No kidding. We weren't expecting the Ritz. We were expecting the amenities that were advertised and basic customer service. The issues with the RV were frustrating, but things happen. What made this experience completely unacceptable was the owner's attitude. I've never been spoken to by a business owner that way in my life. If you value even basic customer service, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Once docked and waves calmed easy to get on and off with kids. Shortly after we ordered, they stopped breakfast because they ran out of food, this was around 10-10:30am. They had 1 bartender at the outside bar, only bar open till 11am when the upper bar opens. Line was wrapped around the bar. Took 20 minutes to get 3 cocktails and 2 kids juices and they were out of water bottles!?! Super understaffed for a holiday weekend. Took approx 30 min for 4 adult and 2 kids breakfasts to come out. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough toast. Eggs were not fresh eggs, they were powdered or just like hotel eggs. Very disappointing. Hash-browns were kinda cooked with a half of a whole potato on my plate. Weird. Bacon and toast were good. Kids pancakes were kinda hard. Fake syrup and fancy brand ketchup are not appreciated. Please serve real syrup and actual ketchup. Very basic breakfast. My husband's breakfast sandwich he said was good and had a real egg! I'll order that next time! Loved that they had swings for the kids, next to a large store to purchase swag. On the other side of the restaurant is a small beach! Rocky shore so water shoes are a must! Older kids were doing laps running off the dock into the river, so fun! Fun bar and restaurant and we will return despite the few negatives. I'd probably prefer lunch or dinner here! Go to Pirates Den for breakfast!

Turns out they open at 9 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and quit serving breakfast at 11:30. D'oh, I misread the website hours and thought they didn't open until 11:30 so we hung around for 45 minutes before running over so as not to arrive before the restaurant opened. We walked in the door and the hostess seated us immediately with menus. I asked about breakfast but the server explained that they opened at 9 and stopped serving breakfast at 11:30. So we had lunch, I ordered a Hawaiian pizza and my girlfriend ordered a hamburger that came with pastrami and a fried egg. That thing was a monster. Pictures don't do it justice. It was a huge stack of protein, burger patty, stack of pastrami, covered by a fried egg and topped with a brioche bun. Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion of course as well. My pizza was delicious and her burger was awesome. I couldn't help but take a bite. We both ate half of our meals and were stuffed. So we took the other halves back to our room as leftovers. Great location right on the river, our table looked out over the channel to the pirates den launch ramp. Prices were reasonable and the food portions were generous. We will probably return the next time we're in parker.
