Will tell you that there are cavities that don't actually exist and that she can fix for an obscenely high price. She lied and said I had 21 cavities and charged upwards of thousands to fill them. Another (corporate) dental office in Brea, quoted me $2300 - $5300, for various extraction & replacement options, even though I had no pain. Dr. Yang said because the nerve wasn't exposed, she'd try to repair it. She did, and only charged me $436. This was extremely satisfying because I have no insurance. She and her staff were patient with me, because I have swallowing issues, laying on my back. I've had absolutely No Pain after the local wore off yesterday afternoon. Why was it so hard to find a dentist!!!!!! I went to 4 dentist within 1.5 years in the north oc area to find a dentist who is honest, experienced, did I say honest, skillful. This place was my 5th dentist I went to!!!!!!!!! I did not tell any of the dentist that I saw another dentist. I wanted to see what they say. Anyways Mimi Yang is very skillful. Her work is clean and painless. After I saw the documentary on root canals , root cause- on Netflix, I did not ever want one. 2 of the 4 wanted me to get a root canal, another wanted to fill it and place a cap on my tooth and another dentist said I had a bunch of cavities that needed filing. Wow! All I can say is that I'm so impressed with the service and treatment I received at Dr. Yang's office today! Maggie was also great! I found Dr. Yang by doing a Google search of the top-rated dentists in the area and I'm so glad I came to her practice :) She was amazing and explained everything to me - something that has never happened at my previous dentists. After the X-rays, she showed me each tooth and her treatment plan for each. I had some fillings crack off and she was recommending to treat my tooth as a fill instead of just placing a crown. I was told by other dentists that I should just place a crown, but Dr. Yang wanted to take the less invasive approach first - which I truly appreciate! Her team is so warm and welcoming. Dr. Mimi Yang is exceptional at her profession. I use to go to other dentists who did a subpar job on cleaning my teeth, normally ending with stain still in my teeth. I came here because a friend recommended this place to me saying that she does a very thorough job in cleaning your teeth. I can confirm to what my friend said after my very first visit with Dr. Yang. After my first cleaning, I went to the check up on my teeth stains and they were all gone. She was also very nice and courteous throughout the entire cleaning. I'd highly recommend her to everyone. We came to Signature Dental after being cheated by another Dentist. I was so happy to find such a clean professional office with a Dr who could treat my children. I see all of the five star reviews here and I'm guessing they are written by patient's either with PPO insurance or who pay obscene amounts out of pocket. My insurance is an HMO and I believe Signature Dental is operating as a bait-and-switch for people like myself. They were willing to sign up with my insurance but as soon as I got into the building they did nothing but try to get more money out of me. A small example... Dr Yang convinced my wife to spend extra for a "Deep Cleaning". When she came back for her next cleaning she was told... "Now that you've had a Deep Cleaning you have to follow-up with a Periodontal Cleaning" (also not covered by our insurance). My wife told them she was not made aware of this up front and left frustrated. I called to explain my wife just wanted the regular cleaning as covered by our insurance. They refused to schedule the appointment. Not long after we received a letter stating they were ending their relationship with my insurance. Well, I guess that's good riddance for both of us because we will never go back to Signature Dental anyway. I believe Dr Yang is quite intelligent and deliberately insulates herself behind pushy coercive admin staff to do the dirty work of pulling more money out of patient's pockets. Just my opinions. Dr. Yang could be a great dentist technique-wise, but she tries to milk you for every little procedure that may need to be done. Granted, I came to her after not going to the dentist for 2 years, but I did not have any problems or pain with my teeth when I came to her, but somehow, she "found" 6 cavities and recommended a re-do of a root canal + a crown for a front tooth that I got a root canal on a decade ago. The total cost of all of this? About $5,000-6,000, or about $2,000 out of pocket with my PPO insurance. Do I look like a walking sack of money? Silly me, I listened to her and "filled in" the 6 "cavities" which could have just been minor stains that had no affect on the integrity of my teeth and went to her recommended orthodontist in Fullerton to re-do my root canal. She probably gets some sort of kick-back from recommending patients to him for root canals and unnecessary procedures. Post root-canal re-do, I went back to her to get the temporary filling filled and a post put in in preparation for a crown, but when I saw the ludicrous out of pocket cost for the crown and fear of shaving off my entire front tooth, I wanted a second opinion from another dentist. Turns out there is a simple procedure that can bleach the inside of your tooth to remove the stain that comes with a root canal and is much more conservative in saving your original tooth, and at a fraction of the cost and pain a crown would have caused. Looks like someone needs to go back to dental school, or just wants yo money in exchange for your tooth. Be forewarned, or be prepared to be upcharged, pay out of pocket costs at the office + get a surprise bill in the mail for some extra fees or procedures that they tacked on without your consent as well. Look elsewhere for a dentist, trust me. read more

I have been going to Signature Dental for the last 3 years and the service has always been great, but I just went in for my cleaning yesterday and I noticed that Dr. Mimi Yang took over the practice. All I can say is that I absolutely love this dentist, not only was she funny, but she had a great personality, she always made sure I was ok and was very professional as she performed the deep cleaning. In all my years of going to a dentist, I have to say that is has been the most enjoyable and fun experience. The staff there is great as well. Do yourself a favor and go see this place its awesome! PART 2 - Another great experience! So I had a follow-up appointment to get my teeth deep cleaned with Dr. Mimi. I hate the idea of getting shots in my mouth to get numbed up. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not hurt at all and the procedure was done quicker than I thought it would be. Dr. Mimi and her tech Erica both worked as a team and provided excellent care. I also received a follow-up call from Dr. Mimi to see how I was doing. WHAT? This never happens anymore. Great job. You will not be disappointed. PART 1 - I am a real skeptic when it comes to seeing a dentist. Too many bad experiences until last week. My daughter and I went to see Dr. Mimi Yang and we were both very impressed. From the beginning working with Lena in the office to Erica the dental assistant to Dr. Yang our visit was a very positive one. Dr. Yang took the time to explain the outcome of the digital x-rays that were taken and gave suggestions on continued care. They were not pushy at all and had our best interest at heart. I came in to see Dr. Yang when I started to feel my toothache turn into a headache and the pain kept getting worse and worse. I was a little nervous at first, because I was not sure what they were going to have to do to fix my toothache. I gave Signature Dental a call and was able to be seen the same day! When I was greeted by Dr. Yang, began to feel better about the procedure because she was very nice. I was anxious because of the pain that I had gone through with other dentists in the past, but the procedure went by very quick and painless. I heard of this dental office thru yelp so I gave it a try. My experience was not so good. Although im sure the dentist is great (according to other helpers), but the front desk girl really killed my experience. I really think the receptionist is a reflection of the dentist. I feel sorry for the dentist...totally lost my business because of the rude front desk girl. I really felt it was personal. Such a long story n I dont know how to make short. But the bottom line is I will never come back to this place because of the bad service. She's so rude. Although the whole time she was calm but the things that she says to me and her gestures and her service was very frustrating and totally not accommodating at all. U know how they said the silent ones are the most dangerous ones? She is like that! I felt she was totally personal w me even though I was trying so hard to remain calm n nice. My girlfriend had a toothache so I had to find a dentist--my last dentist is in Newport Beach and that is too far from where we now live (Brea) so I choose Signature Dental. We used a coupon for the initial exam and Dr. Yang evaluated her tooth and discovered that was a wisdom tooth and then told us that she is unable to extract wisdom teeth in her office. She didn't charge us for the visit (and the 10 min she spent with us) which was expected because of the coupon. She did recommend 2 oral surgeons, one in her building and one in Tustin--and she added that the one in Tustin was "better" than the one in her building. So, we took our little referral paper to Tustin the next night and 2 wisdom teeth extracted was a total of $1280... being put under local was a part of that cost--but I am guessing that referral paper I gave the receptionist was a "kick-back" to Dr. Yang for the business she sent over to Dr. Lee. Not confirmed, but I am pretty sure that is the way it works. Fast forward to my own cleaning--I have Delta Dental HMO and I was charged a $35 "co-pay" and up-sold for some anti-bacterial rinse--AKA, $55 for some mouthwash--stupid me. Upon thinking about it the next morning, I called Delta Dental and they said I should not have had any co-pay (the up-sale was on me)...so I called the office and the receptionist told me that the charge was for photos (not given the option to NOT have this done--and told it was a co-pay, not a charge for a service that is not covered) and $5 copay--when she gave me the code for the fee--it is actually "observation only--no other services performed" but I did get my teeth cleaned so I didn't understand that one. Some might say "why bicker over $5"--but it was obvious that they are just finding things to charge for if you have HMO insurance--I guess the HMO doesn't pay enough. My girlfriend (no insurance) had not been to the dentist in a few years, and since her mouth had healed from the extractions, I made an appointment for her right after mine. For her, the x-rays, photos and Dr. consult was $212. Dr. Yang recommended deep cleaning ($740), seven fillings (only 2 for new cavities--the other 5 are "just looking a little old and should be redone") ($1873) for a total of $2613. I seriously laughed out loud. I know why people don't go to the dentist if they don't have insurance. Needless to say, I said "thanks but no thanks" and promptly called Delta Dental to ask about individual plans, signed her up and paid for a year of Delta Dental HMO ($101 for the whole year) and called the dentist back. Of course, the insurance is accepted but suddenly they couldn't see her for 22 days (if we were paying cash, they had an appointment any day we wanted within the next 10 days), and, because her consult, x-rays and photos were paid cash, she would need to have that all re-done so that the insurance could be billed. As if I didn't have enough red flags, I cancelled all of it, headed to Yelp for help and called a different dentist. So, although Dr. Yang was pleasant and her assistant was nice, unless you have a lot of money to burn, pass on Signature Dentist and listen to Yelpers for advice on Brea dentists. read more

I've been in to see Dr. Yang twice now (once for consultation/cleaning and once to replace a filling). The office is clean, well designed and filled with current equipment - which is really nice. But the biggest positive is Dr. Yang. She has a wonderful chair-side manner, doesn't push or try to talk you into procedures and is very friendly and happy! During my procedure, she kept checking on me, making sure I was comfortable and not in any pain and we were done FAST! I'm so happy to have found her! read more

Dr. Mimi Yang is an exceptional dentist! I found her a couple years ago through 1-800-DENTIST and was amazed with her gentle manner when numbing an area for fillings as well as her expertise, experience, and the state-of-the-art technology...I just saw her last month as she recently took over Signature Dental and she found 4 cavities...I have not had cavities in decades, but I just had a baby 2 years ago, so apparently these cavities were due to my pregnancy (the baby got the calcium!)... I was a bit nervous, but Dr. Mimi never ceases to impress. Not only was I out of there in less than 1.5 hours, but I barely felt a thing!!! Wow! That was awesome! She also took great care to ensure my fillings were smoothed out nicely I thought I was going to have a lot of pain, but I was worried for nothing. Dr. Yang is wonderful and I'm extremely grateful to have found her practice. I've had countless negative experiences with past Dentists that have left me with a SEVERE anxiety towards all dental procedures!! I called Signature Dental/Brea with a broken tooth and they were able to see me the same day! I needed Oral Surgery to remove the tooth :-( and the Oral Surgeon was flexible to have it done as soon as possible! A major PLUS about Dr. Yang is that she presented and explained all of my options and I NEVER felt pressured. In the past, I've been pressured to purchase add-ons or expensive procedures that just jacked up the bill... Not here! Dr. Yang has wonderful bedside manner that helps with High Anxiety patients like myself. She also prescribed medication to ease my nerves during surgery. Overall, the procedure didn't even hurt!! Seriously, for the first time I'm happy to say I know a GREAT dentist. My teeth have a chance now. In January of 2010 I went in for a cleaning and told them I was on a tight schedule and that I had a specific time I would need to leave their office by. I asked if they had time to complete the cleaning, they said they could. I was then swept off to x-rays and then was visited by a female dentist who explained nearly $7000 worth of work I could expect to need done. Then out of time, I did not receive the cleaning I scheduled for. I went to the front desk and was charged $237.00 for x-rays and an exam I did not schedule. I left with my teeth not cleaned, late to my next appointment and very upset. I went to another dentist and had the x-ray fowarded, they were not able to use them. After a cleaning, a complete new set of x-rays and a second opinion my future dental needs were under $2000. With the new information from the second opinion I put a stop payment on my check and later phoned the dental office to complain about my experience. I was told I would be held responsible to pay the amount of $237.00 for the x-rays & exam (that I never asked for). Then about 2 weeks later they sent my file to collections and I now have it on my credit report as an unpaid medical. Their customer service was pitiful to say the least. I am a business owner and specialize in customer service, I'd be out of business if I handled my clients their way. IN MY OPINION, FIND ANOTHER DENTIST!!! Awful! I went in for a cleaning, she was wonderful. Never saw her again. They said I needed alot of work, so I got it done. They took forever each time I went in, the impressions didn't fit, and had to be redone requiring more visits. They didn't have the proper glue to put my bridge in, so I sat and waited for 40 minutes while someone went to get it from their Anaheim Hills office! They were short a dental assistant one day so the office manager stepped in to help. You can't make this craziness up! Couldn't get out of there fast enough! Run!!! read more

Dr. Yang and her staff was nice but as other reviewers have posted, you will get up-charged for many services. Full explanations were not really given when I inquired about why it cost so much even though I had insurance. It cost $60 for a cleaning and I was told it would be $500 for 2 fillings. I had a couple of cleanings done by Dr. Yang and she was fast but I have never had so much pain when someone flossed my teeth. My insurance changed and Signature Dental was assigned to me as my new dentist. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and Dr. Yang greeted me with a warm introduction and checked me in immediately. I received a full check-up, gum evaluation, full set of X-Rays, had a night guard mold made, and a thorough teeth cleaning - all in about one hour (and all pain-free)! Dr. Yang and her dental assistant were professional, yet friendly throughout all procedures. Dr. Yang took pictures of each of my teeth and during the examination, explained in great detail about the status of each tooth and the surrounding gums! I learned so much and I am actually looking forward to my next visit! The staff did not try to sell me anything and Dr. Yang checked my insurance and went over all costs prior to any treatments. I found them honest and trustworthy. I recommend Signature Dental to anyone who has anxiety about going to the dentist, anyone who appreciates quick and painless treatment, or anyone who does not want to spend an entire day at the dentist office! read more
