As someone that cooks A LOT! I am demanding in the kitchen. I knew the sort of materials I wanted to look at for longevity and durability but I also knew that my kitchen required some unique cuts because the run was very long on one side. With a little creativity from the team doing the measuring (also the install team), we were able to figure out how to hide both the cut in the counter behind a farmhouse sink and cut on the tall backsplash in a shadow under an upper cabinet. EVERY other company in town told me that they would only do a full cut back to front and up the splash showing the full seam in the counter. So I was really happy to have the team figure out an alternative that barely shows just because they thought about placement while they were measuring. They are well-trained! The bathrooms had some unique cuts because the vanities in the mid-century bathrooms sat further out in one case and more narrow in the other. In both situations, they found a small sink in their inventory that fit the spaces really well. The staff did everything from help me pick out the right color quartz to setting it in place along with the sink and cleaning up behind themselves. They were on-time for all of my appointments, neat and very courteous. The bill was exactly as I expected with no surprises. I was able to get nicer pieces than I expected for the tops and the sinks with the staff's help. I would never have been able to do so much without their assistance and knowledge of the products in each manufacturers' line. After working on all of the counters and saving so much I decided to update the front of the 60 year old brick fireplace. The staff helped me select a natural stone remnant and installed that perfectly as well. I think that ended up being our favorite small upgrade in the house. We've used the fireplace more this year since we updated than in the past 10 years combined. It is just that beautiful now! One more bathroom to update after some plumbing is corrected and they will be back for that work as well. I can't say enough about the service and selection. They carry all of the main manufacturers for engineered products and tons of natural stone. They can cut any edge you would like. They take the time to tell you about the seams if you have a long run and figure out ways to avoid them if possible. You can bring your designer with you or just go in by yourself. You can take home samples to check in your own home to make sure you like the selection before ordering. I found the prices to be excellent, and the guidance on which products to look at for a particular style was helpful in keeping me on track. It took a couple of days to get the quote, but we were seriously getting quotes and were not just shopping around. Most places only quote you a per square foot price based on the measurements you give them. All jobs can be a bit more tricky depending on how the tops go into a space. I already knew that having done a bit of construction over the years so the couple of day turn around was fine and expected from a serious bidder on a job. It takes time to work out how the cuts will fit in a sheet and how many sheets will be needed based on your requirements. Be patient, it's worth it.

I clearly remember my Father asking this sales person three separate times during this conversation about the sink if they were actually going to install it and they said yes. This was a big reason we decided to spend money with them. Once the installers arrived they refused to do the promised work because they didn't have plumbing insurance. We called and spoke to three different people at their company to either get the cost of the plumber covered because the salesman lied or to have it done. We were put through to the owner of the company who was extremely rude. Instead of providing great customer service, the rude and arrogant owner instead threatened to put a lien on the house if my father did not pay even though they did not do what was promised. Horrible people and liars from their owner down to their sales team. Avoid at all cost.

Things to note: - The communication, payments and scheduling were disjointed and I do agree with Crystal W., the previous poster, on this point. Based on my experience, I would recommend that this company hire an office manager or some type of scheduling/accounting assistant to manage scheduling and billing. Paul appears to manage it all himself and communicates mostly through texts after 9pm, though it is possible to get him on the phone during the day. - Have Paul come out and do the consultation and have everything ready and prepared for your estimate 3 months in advance when you want to get on the schedule-the business is busy and you'll likely need some lead time before getting on the schedule. - For our experience, we paid 50% for the flooring and then the remaining 50% a couple of days before installation. This was done directly with the flooring vendor (not Sedaris); the Sedaris crew will pick up the flooring directly from the vendor prior to installation - Sedaris installation crew were phenomenal-I give them 5 stars. They worked hard, were polite, and made sure everything was clean when they left. - We had one hiccup where the measurements that Sedaris did at our original consultation for our pricing fell short and didn't account for enough flooring-1 or 2 additional boxes of flooring were needed in the laundry area. In the end, Sedaris agreed to pay for the additional flooring and we paid for the additional labor. We felt that this was a fair arrangement and were happy with how that issue was resolved. - After the installation and final payments, we had a question about cleaning some paint stains in the floor (done by separate vendor) and Paul was prompt in giving some helpful tips-I appreciated his helpfulness even after our official business was over. Despite some of the communication challenges with scheduling and billing, if we were to get our floors done again, we'd hire Sedaris. We love our floors.

He looked over the foundation and told me it's not the foundation but just the brick facade, which would be the job of a mason. Now, Keith could have rooked me for several thousand dollars by subcontracting the job out to a mason, but he didn't. Instead, he was honest and just told me he wasn't the man to do the job. I recently had a couple leaks show up in my ceiling, so I called Dana Dean Roofing to schedule…read moresomeone to come take a look and see if they could determine where the water was coming through the roof. Dana arrived on time and was up on my roof in the blink of an eye. He immediately saw several exposed nails that he believed to be the cause of the leaks, along with some issues with chimney flashing and other minor issues with some shingles near our skylight (near the leak on the interior ceiling). Dana got me an estimate of $375 plus tax within a day and a half. Another estimate I received, from Recovery Roofing, was $1,600 and that guy didn't even climb on my roof (which meant he wasn't even sure of what was causing the leak). Dana's son-in-law came last night and completed the leak repair work in a timely manner. He called twice before arriving to let me know when he would be there. Dana's pricing was very reasonable (much, much lower than other estimates) and he was honest about the work that needed to be done. The first thing he said to me after climbing off the roof was, "You could definitely fix this yourself-- it's not that hard. But I'll work up a quote for you in case you don't want to climb up on your roof" (very steep). Before he arrived, my wife and I thought the roof may need to be replaced completely. Dana assured us that the roof has at least several more years of life left in it and told me, "Don't let anyone come out here and tell you this roof needs to be replaced." I appreciated that honesty. Also, Dana's repair work has a 3-year warranty behind it. Highly recommended.

We found Preferring Flooring on the Shaw Website. Preferred Flooring did a great job. First, Shaw is a little weird because they don't offer the same products to the consumer market that they offer to new home builders. Preferred Flooring found us the equivalent Shaw engineered hardwood that matched perfectly. Second, they did a great job installing the floors including removing the carpeting from the stairs and installing and staining the stair treads to match the Shaw engineered hardwood. Third, they gave us a reasonable price and came in on budget. We also had them do a little tile work in the master bath, which turned out great. Their salesman Jeff Parker is great to work with as are their installation crews. We highly recommend Preferring Flooring and would absolutely use them again.
