I recently moved from Los Angeles to Palm Springs, and used Sigavan Moving. They were easy to work with an arrived promptly. They loaded and unloaded the truck faster than any other mover I've ever had, especially considering there were only two guys working. I have a few pieces of furniture that are very fragile, and they took extra care with them. This is also the first move I've ever had were not a single thing was broken or damaged. Avoid this horrible company! I called to get a quote for a move, and asked for a grand total price on what I'd pay. I was given the quote, and read it back to the guy to confirm. I then called other companies for quotes, and called Sigavan back to schedule my move later in the day. I again read the quote back to the guy, and confirmed with him that this was my grand total cost for the move- he confirmed this. The day of the move came, and the movers were prompt, fast, polite, and effective - I cannot say a single bad word about the guys who showed up and actually did the moving. However, after the move I was shocked when I was handed my bill. I only had a small amount of stuff to move a couple cities over, and the move was fully competed in under 2.5 hours. However, I was charged for 3 hours, with each hour charged at the price I was quoted for the entire job! I explained to the movers that this was not what I was quoted, so they reached out to the boss who then drove over to meet us. He was the most rude, unprofessional, and offensive business owner I have ever met! He got into my face and started poking at my chest with his finger, as if he was going to scare me into paying him the amount of money he wanted. He lied to my face and told me that he said things on the phone which he never did, and he acted as if it was my responsibility to know that the quoted price was not enough, so I should therefore have expected to pay more. I tried to explain to him that I don't know what his overhead costs are, and the only thing I have to go off of is the price I was quoted and which was confirmed to me multiple times- he didn't care. I also explained to him that I received quotes for less than what he was attempting to charge me, and that I wouldn't have hired his company if he was upfront about his pricing - again, he didn't care. All he seemed to care about was insulting me, cussing at me, and trying to squeeze as much money out of me as he could. It was only after asking him for his business license number, and telling him that I was going to report his unhonest and unethical business practices, that he finally agreed to settle for less. I ended up paying him only about what I would have paid another company, and not the full ridiculous amount of money he wanted- however, I think he is lucky he even got that with the business practices he uses! All I can offer as advice, is to stay far far away from Sigavan! UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO REPLY FROM SIGAVAN: Dear owner, Just so you are aware, writing responses full of lies to every one of your horrible reviews online in no way makes people see past the fact that your reviews are indeed horrible. Based on my encounter with you, it is absolutely no mystery why. The movers were wonderful- but you were absolutely terrible! Having good employees does not mean that you as the business owner get to treat your customers like trash. I called multiple times and confirmed with you in plain and clear English several times of the GRAND TOTAL COST I would be paying for my move. You are a rude, dishonest, and unethical business owner. Additionally, for the record, you absolutely stuck your finger in my chest and were up in my face from the second you showed up. Your employees walked away in disgust, and they were the only ones in YOUR company to actually apologize to me for how I was treated - which is absolutely pathetic. Your response to my review, as well as all of your responses to all of your other poor reviews, is only further indication of your complete lack of respect for customers and your disinterest in providing ethical business practices. read more

Called them a few days before my move, they had given me an appointment time for 12/02/16 around noon. The day before my appointment they called and said they had cancelled the appointment before mine and would be there in the morning around 10 am. That worked out even better so I agreed. 10 am came and went, and about 20 after, I got a call from them stating they had taken another job in the morning working with a designer, and the designer was being difficult having them moving items around continuously. They said it would be another hour to hour and a half before they were on the way to my house. Again, that time came and went, and I received another call stating they were still at their job in Palm Desert and it was going to be a bit longer, but I would receive 25% off of the service fees for the inconvenience. After another hour, I called back for an update, there was no answer so I left a message. After another hour passed, I started looking for another moving company that would be able to help me and 5 year old son move out of our house last minute. By the grace of God, we found a company that was willing to help us. I finally called back and the person who answered said his guys were finally on the way to my house, it was about 230 pm. I told them I had found someone else and I wanted to cancel. He sounded as if he was annoyed but hey, when you make an appointment, and your are over 4 hours late, then its more than an inconvenience and I am going to give my business to a company that deserves it. I contracted with Sigavan Moving Systems to move my things into storage and into my new home once I had purchased one. They showed up on the correct date and time. My things had to be placed in their storage because I did not yet have a new home. I went to stay with a friend while I conducted my search, contracted pneumonia and was in hospital. Recovery was slow. I finally was able to get a home and I called "Rosti" who said "they did not know if I was coming back." My things were in their storage several weeks--surely he did not think I would just go off and leave everything I owned. When they delivered my things, to my shock, things were missing and damaged with no explanation. Missing were a one of a kind vase with arrangement, large frame with my great grandfathers discharge from the Civil War,framed pictures of my granddaughter and son and several other items. Damage was done to a large mirror, a side tabl and my safe (broken into and lock destroyed). Obviously the storage which was represented to be secure was not secure and a person or persons obtained excess to it and helped themselves. I contacted Rosti several times asking for the name of his insurance company and he refused to provide that information unless I allowed him to come into my home and "search for missing items." Since all movers are required by the Insurance Commissioner to carry insurance or be self insured against loss, theft or damage to customers it is obviously essential that Rosti provide me this information or explain his self insured plan.
