The guys at S&D Moving moved a grand piano from my neighbor's house to mine for a VERY reasonable price. Even though they didn't have to transport it anywhere, they still had to go through some of the same steps, such as remove the legs, wrap it and roll it to it's new home next door. They did a fantastic job! They were so respectful and kind, and one of the owners, Sam, was there overseeing the job. He was such a nice man and agreed (at the last minute) to move my old spinet piano to a neighbor's house for a price she could afford. And while they were there, I asked if they could move a large china cabinet from next door to my house as well. Sam very nicely agreed to do that, if I would just take care of his men. He wrapped the cabinet and his men brought it over to my house. That was so nice of them to do that! They left the jobsite as clean as when they came. I would use them again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to my friends as well. Thanks, Sam, for a very positive experience and for being such a nice guy!!! This company was hired to move an upright piano from Indian Wells to Palm Desert. The total distance was less than 3.5 miles. I was told between 12-2pm. At 2pm, the movers showed up at my home...without the piano. Oops. Seems like a handy thing to bring to a delivery. They left to go get the piano from Indian Wells and return to my home in PD. This should have taken no more than 30 minutes - including the time to load and unload the piano. I called an hour later with no response. After trying again, they answered and said they were making additional pick ups/drop offs in La Quinta and would return about 3:30pm. As of 4:30pm, no one had shown up with a piano and they were not answering the phone. After several phone calls (you can't leave a message because the phone's voicemail was not set up yet) they called me back and said they were on the way and would be here in 30 minutes. They finally arrived just before 6pm. I'm not sure what went wrong here or why my piano took SIX hours to arrive from the time I was given. Or if we back up further, what went wrong that allowed a company to show up without the item I paid to be delivered in the first place? After years of shopping at Misty's Consignments and using this delivery service, I am shocked and highly irritated with my wasted day of waiting and confusion. Searching for movers? Great experience using SD Moving Services. I live out of state and turned to Yelp to checkout companies, reviews, and gather estimates for a quick and complex move of all furniture from a 2500 sq. ft. vacation rental. Some of the furniture was to be moved to another rental in the area, picking up add'l furniture at the 2nd home, and taking all remaining items to a nearby consignment store. Because I am not local we weren't able to do an onsite estimate. Sam was willing to working w/me remotely to review photos of items, and to provide the estimate. Sam's crew of 3 arrived as promised, and made quick work of packing up the back of the truck with the items that would ultimately go to consignment, then those items to go to the 2nd house last. Sam even stopped by in the morning to check in and see how things were progressing. The movers took all the loaded items to the 2nd house, unloaded/setup all the items to be left there, then loaded up all additional items, and headed for consignment. Total project estimated at 7-8 hours took less than stated, which resulted in both a welcomed cost, and time, savings for us given we had only 2.5 days to totally empty the rental property due to a pending sale. Sam was responsive, had great follow up and his crew was courteous, handled our belongings with care, and were very hard working (it was unseasonably warm on the day of the move). Phenomenal experience with SD Moving Services-I could not ask for a better experience. Everything was stress free from beginning to end. The initial phone call to Daryl was met with clear information and all my questions were answered. He changed the date of the move twice in order to accommodate me. His attitude is always pleasant. The movers called on their way and were on time and got right to work. They never stopped working on a very hot day. Initially, we walked through the house together and I showed them what was going and again all my questions were answered. Both movers were extremely polite and their attitude helped me relax. I found this mover on yelp and thought they would be a good fit for my move from La Quinta to Palm Desert. On the initial visit to give me an estimate, Sam was very nice and told me not to worry, they would take care of everything and make the move easy and stress-free. And, he would supply wardrobe boxes for clothes just for the move, to be returned back to him. I thought that was very kind of him. I did change the date of the move a couple of times as it was going to be scheduled according to when my family member came home from the hospital. Again, Sam told me not to worry and he would take care of everything and make it stress-free. Between the initial estimate and the actual moving day, furniture was giving way leaving less to move. With that in mind, the cost and time obviously would be a lot lower. The actual moving date was scheduled and Sam sent me a confirmation by email. On the morning of the move, I became concerned as the movers were 1 hour late. I called Sam who seemed confused that the move was to be at 8.30 that day. I reminded him of the confirmation by email. At that point, he said he would call me back. Sam called back to inform me that a truck was on its way.... Daryl, his partner show up with 2 men to assist with the move. I was pleased, they were great! At that point, the move went fine and it was completed. I asked for the paperwork to reflect how much the move actually ended up costing and receipt of my payment. Daryl said because he came from a previous move, he didn't have the paperwork but would email it to me that same afternoon. No paperwork arrived and I called Sam. He told me that he would mail it to me. That was 2 months ago. I never received any paperwork to this date. read more

Absolutely the worst moving and storage experience we've ever had. Permanently lost a number of pieces of furniture, damaged others - rugs, mattresses, etc. and temporarily (5-6 weeks) lost all of my clothes and much of our kitchen equipment, which we began replacing at our own cost. We bought furniture from Mistys and was suppose to be delivered on Saturday to us but Sam said late in the day from S&D said too many deliveries late in the day and will do it on Monday AM. My wife said fine. She called Sam, Monday to find out when and Sam said he would get right back to us. Here it is Tuesday afternoon and not a peep from Sam. If he broke something he should just admit it. He is ignoring our calls. This is a very unreliable company! Meanwhile we are out our furniture and will have to make a police report and sue them. Why doesn't the Company admit (A) they lost our furniture, (B) broke our furniture and pay for our loss or if they have it, (C) why not deliver it as promised by Sam? Meanwhile should we go out and buy elsewhere? Not even a return phone call! read more

Honestly we were blown away, the customer service before the move was excellent. It was during the move that problems arose. My mother and I both booked S&D. We were both quoted $750 + $115 per hour over (LOL) for our move. We packed ourselves. Mother requested additional help packing. When the big moving day came. Suddenly known one new anything about helping her pack. Things arrived on the delivery end loose and sticking out of other boxes. They did not bring any additional packing boxes for her. Here 54 inch Bravia Television came wrapped in a blanket. That is where the movers and I HAD STRONG WORDS ! Seriously, they told me that they did not have time to wrap the TV, WHAT ! Apparently they felt they could afford to pay for it if they broke it. PLEASE KNOW INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER A TELEVISION THAT IS NOT PROPERLY PACKED. On our end we had 2 TV boxes that ... this is not joke .... they packed empty into the van. Her total bill was $2100 when it was all said and done. Now mind you Sam came to her home twice, he had 2 opportunities to evaluate the load versus truck need. Well his team arrives on the day of with a truck the size of a UHAUL 4 room truck, not large enough to take everything in one load. Two loads and I had to go to her home and finish the remaining items. Which meant renting a truck and trailer. Now my turn, same deal, 2 visits to my 4 bedroom house. I had 98% packed myself with items in the garage and shed boxed previously. Sam saw it all.... and they arrive with the UHAUL size truck that could not handle the move. I had called for an early pickup of the packed boxes to clear room for more staging of furniture in the garage. LOL there was no way this move could happen in even 3 truck loads. Honestly I had organized the truck loading so things would not be jumbled or lost. I might as well just gone out to lunch for all of my efforts. My total move was $2800. I am not a hoarder or junk person. I have a pretty normal 4 bedroom with garage and shed. Nick Nacks and the like. There were not enough people or enough truck to do the job in the quoted time. So Buyer beware. It sounds good but if you have a normal house do not expect to pay the quoted price. I truly wanted to leave 1 star but I felt this review actually would speak for itself. Very disappointed. Scheduled appointment was between 1pm and 3 pm. They arrived at 6:05 pm. This group was in our house less than 40 min before a $1,200 Black and White Circular Print on Acrylic was broken. I came to check on them just in time to see the print fall on the table and broke the acrylic. They had the front door wide open and the gate to the foyer also was wide open which was held open by large rock. We live in the north part of Palm Springs which has more wind. They said they did not touch the print and it was my fault because of where I placed the print which was there for over two days in which we had no problem. I understand things happen but it was just their attitude how they would not take any responsibility blaming me and God as in act of. I requested to speak to the owner Darryl who also stated that his group did not touch the print and believed it was an act of God. I was getting upset because it was obvious every one was trained to say the same thing and he would not accept any responsibility. I said fine my I have your insurance carrier and lets let a third party decide. He refused to give that information and told be thats why you have home owners insurance. How it ended was they unloaded my furnishings let all the doors open and left. Not very professional. read more

I had a glass table moved from Cathedral City to Orange County. The movers were unable to get in touch with the person at the pickup location due to an incorrect phone number, and rather than calling me to let me know that they simply just decided to not do the pickup. After contacting them because they never showed, I gave them the correct phone number and they proceeded to finish the delivery. I received the glass table in a reasonable amount of time, but the table had been damaged during the move. At first the delivery guy said it was like that when they picked it up, but when I asked for pictures the story changed. After speaking with the owner over text message, he agreed to refund me a portion of the delivery fee. It's been 3 weeks since the 'refund' was supposed to arrive, and now i cannot get a response from the company. I would not suggest using this company if you care about your items arriving undamaged. **UPDATE** SD Moving Services & Storage was responsive to my review and refunded the expenses due to the damage incurred. read more
