You can count on them raising your rate 10% year after year. Adds up after a while. You can count on them charging you for insurance, even if you have your own and given them proof and they say you won't get charged; it's a lie. Count on another $16 or so a month gone due to that issue alone. My lock was cut and someone was looking into my unit that should not have been, this wasn't recent but it did happen. Don't expect the office to keep posted office hours. read more

It pains me to write this review & I want to believe that the office people are not at fault here, that this is an administration issue. So here's my story. I rented a small unit at the Tri-Palms property on 12/20/24 for a friend. I paid up front until 5/31/25. Sadly, my friend passed away 3/6/25. I closed the unit on 3/25/25 & was told I had a refund coming for $84. April came & went. Called once, was promised a callback. After no contact, I called back on 5/5/25 & spoke to Samantha. It was a very friendly conversation & she said it might take another week or two because of slow mail service. She assured me the check was in the mail. 6/4/25 I made another call to them & got their answering machine. Requested a callback once again. No callback. I have been pleasant & friendly & patient thru out, even writing a positive review in the beginning. It's hard to believe that for $84 this company lost a good customer & any & all future customers, who I hope will think twice before renting from Devon Storage. One star is one to many for waiting over 60 days for a check that's not coming! read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU USE DEVON - my storage unit was broken in to, all boxes gone through, over $4000 dollars of camera equipment stolen. The lock on the entry door never locked, we reported it every week and they never repaired it. The air conditioning was on about 50% of the time and it was really hot the rest even though we were paying for an air-conditioned unit. They DO NOT have cameras like they say. They would not even file a police report for me! They are awful and not to be trusted. Look at the other reviews below and the number of thefts they have had. Go to Extra Space storage - they actually turn on the air-conditioning and lock the doors! read more

Didn't use this place because I was told by the manager they hadn't had any break ins to RVs in several months, only to discover (when putting in GPS directions to drop my rig) a new yelp review by a customer complaining that their and another rv has been busted into very recently, and that they had been told exactly what I was told, which was that there was no issue and the lot was "monitored" even after hours, by the manager who lives on-site. Whoever owns this property should address the issue. Went with someone else last minute who could put my rig inside at 2x the cost. read more

The only time I've been able to talk to someone here was when I dropped off my items to store. Auto-pay never goes thru so I call every month to pay. No one ever answers the phone. No one is ever in the damn office. read more

DO NOT STORE YOUR RV OR VEHICLES HERE!!! You will be robbed! When we first met the manager and decided to store our brand new rv here, he assured us that the place has never been broken into in several years, stated he lives on property and can hear everything and he regularly patrols the place at night. We felt like our property would be safe and secure little did we know he lied to us! For several months we had nothing in our RV but the last month we had started putting belongings in the rv because we had planned on living in it to travel. The day we brought our electronics (gaming system, computer, etc) and our shoes, that night the rv was broken into and all of our electronics where stolen. Way to convenient since the manager can see us unloading electronics into our Rv! They used a crowbar to get into our rv by braking metal in the slider. The day prior another rv had been broken into and we were there when the owners showed up to tow their Rv out of that place. We figured we only had two weeks left and our RV is directly in front of lights and the camera, it would be ok. WRONG! The manager failed to let anyone know that the area is not secure, downed fence on one side of the property and a an easy access over the fence on another side of the property. The day we got broken into we showed up at about 6pm discovering that it had been broken into and ransacked, and the manager, Joshua, was very Hesitant to look at the cameras or do anything! I asked why he wouldn't have heard them breaking a glass slider door and bending metal, He told us he doesn't hear anything in his apartment and when he is off, he is off and doesn't even bother with the property!! Lied to us in the beginning! We did a police report and the manager of the property REFUSED to give me the insurance information. After a week of trying to obtain the video footage, the officer was told no footage could be found!! Our rv is directly in front of the camera and all of the sudden no footage can be found! Another breach of contract that their cameras are operational! Still a week later and the company has refused the insurance information and refused to allow us to see any camera footage or lack of it. We strongly believe the manager or someone close to the property is in on the thefts of the property as they would've seen us dropping things off in the camera that day. He flat out refusing to help us in any way also is a huge red flag!! The manager also let it slip that the property gets broken into regularly , he told the officer this, and that despite him putting in orders to fix the fences, he can't help that stuff isn't done right away. Then a couple days later the manager accidentally sends me pictures of another RV on property that got broken into and this RV is feet away from the managers apartment window!!! The company overall are a bunch of crooks and my insurance is going to go after them for breach of contract. The regional director contacted me, still refusing to give me the insurance info, and tried telling me they don't have insurance.... Yes they do, apparently he thinks people are stupid. I put in a complaint with the BBB and next step is a lawsuit! Hopefully others will see this and not go through what we went through! Horrible business, horrible employees and shady practices!!! They aren't even cheap and to find out that your property will be damaged and they know it will is a scam!! GO SOMEWHERE ESE!!! read more

Since Devon took over the Extra Storage Space Building in Hoover, AL the management has declined. The air condition has been out for over a month. I asked for an update recently and never got it. This building has storage units and offices. Either is not good in consistent over 80 degree temps downstairs. Upstairs is intolerable. The tenant upstairs had to install her own portable a/c just to be able to work a few hours and is the only office in the building with a window to vent it properly. They have not offered to supply extra fans or discounts on rent due to this problem which is bad business practices. read more

Horrible! We needed a truck to rent and i made the reservation prior, I was running late but called to make note of it. Day of we drive about an hour down the facility for our truck and the office is closed. There were signs stating closed for memorial of the officers of palm springs, and i get it that is important but we were there waiting and expecting our truck. I called the number which of course was a call center being on hold for about 15 min i was told the manager was at the memorial and i would have to call penske and find a new truck. I've worked in self storage and delt with truck rentals and i know you see the reservations when they are made and a courtesy call wouldve been nice. I received no notice no call nothing but to show up to an empty office and waste 30 min of my time dealing with the call center and penske to find a new truck. Again i understand the severity of the memorial but a courtesy wouldve been nice. read more

We had our belongings here for 4 years during 3 changes of owners. We recently put our home on the market, and during "staging", moved a lot more stuff into storage. After the house went into escrow and we prepared for our out of state move, we put in our 30 day notice. After about 3 weeks, we went over to pick up our stuff and discovered that we had been robbed of virtually everything valuable we had stored there. The manager there told me no one else had been robbed, but I see by the review that's not true. That's ok. I didn't believe her anyway. We lost about $10,000 worth of items that I suspect were taken by somebody on the inside. Someone had a gate code and a truck. They didn't a hand truck - they stole ours. read more

I have had numerous storage units before I found Devon Self Storage. I was never satisfied with any of my units. When I moved in to Devon's, Krystal and Evette were so accommodating and professional I felt like they were truly thankful for my business. The grounds are well maintains, if I ever have a question or a problem they are there to handle it. They always have a smile on their face and willing to do what they can. I also rent the big trucks from them from time to time. The prices are competitive and trucks are clean and in well working order. I have referred many of my friends and family to Devon Self Storage units.
