This review is dedicated to SIG Team Green and their property manager that's on site at Glenoaks Gardens. I honestly hate writing angry reviews but this company has wrongly discriminated against me, both for my disability and what feels like a racially targeted attack (attached are receipts of texts and emails I've gotten) I've moved in March of this year, and I had been originally so excited. The property manager had reached out to me telling me to remove an old broken and dirty cat tree that was left by the trash bin, which hadn't been mine. I thought this had been cleared up, and then I get an email from SIG rental. I am writing this review with great disappointment and frustration regarding the discriminatory treatment I have received from the property management at SIG. As the only Southeast Asian, disabled, queer woman residing on this property, I feel that I am being racially profiled and unfairly treated. Recently, I was accused of having a dog on the property, which I do not and have never owned. This baseless accusation led to a shocking notice stating that the property management team would enter my home within two days, without a warrant, to investigate. This invasion of my privacy is completely unjustified and deeply troubling. Additionally, I have been instructed to remove my emotional support animals (ESA) from my apartment within two days, despite having provided all necessary documentation to their third-party vendor, a process that is both lengthy and rigorous. This documentation involves numerous exchanges with my psychiatrist, which is not only costly but also energy-draining, especially for someone with a disability. Since moving in at the end of March, I have worked diligently to comply with all ESA requirements. Given that it is now mid-May, only a month and a half has passed, and the documentation process naturally takes time. The accusatory note I received failed to consider these circumstances and did not even include a courtesy call to verify their claims. The supposed "barking" they heard was likely due to my own coughing, as I am currently battling COVID-19 and am immunocompromised with asthma. The blatant disregard for my situation and the discriminatory undertones of this treatment are baffling and unacceptable. I've never ever in my life have been treated with such hostility from a company, given I've received zero heads up and notice not given any chance to communicate with them, "I will be checking the unit this week and do surprise inspections to see if the dog is still there." Surprise inspections are not...legal. This statement, with its threats of surprise inspections and legal action, is both alarming and illegal. Under California Civil Code Section 1954, landlords are required to provide reasonable notice, typically 24 hours, before entering a tenant's unit, except in emergencies. The threats of surprise inspections without prior notice and without any valid evidence violate my legal rights to privacy and fair treatment. Additionally, as a tenant with a disability, I am protected under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). These laws prohibit discrimination and ensure that reasonable accommodations, such as ESAs, are allowed. ...And again, what dog? I've been allergic to dogs my entire life, have never owned a dog, and had immediately been accused of this. In addition, I've been in and out of the hospital because of my COVID 19, and given my immunocompromised state, I am deeply concerned that these baseless accusations are being used as grounds to invade my privacy. They have yet to provide any evidence to support their claim. Without valid evidence, such actions could be considered harassment and an invasion of my privacy rights under both my lease agreement and state law. I urge anyone considering moving to this property to think twice and be aware of the potential for such unfair treatment. Also if anyone is wondering (unfortunately credentials are always important here), I'm not some hooliganism, but a senior manager at a big 5 company who has seen and dealt with quite a lot...I'm not trying to defame them and want to give them the benefit of doubt that this is some misunderstanding. But the treatment of this is fairly clear. read more

Hi Michael, I'm Charlotte's spouse. First off, I have never met nor spoken with you, so how would you even know that I explained anything to my wife. The way that your reply was written makes it seem that the project was initially explained to all of the tenants, and that I was completely ok with it, and explained it to my wife, which it was not, and I was not. The initial notice just stated that there was going to be a "re-piping" process, and to just remove everything from under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. It never gave any of the 17 tenants a clue that there was going to be construction in our apartments while we are still living there. Now the notice that you are referring to is actually the second one everyone got after the holes were already put in, and only because S.I.G. received so many complaints. Now what I did tell my wife after I saw what was being done, was that it was going to take time, but this was after everything. Also, the process didn't take about 10 days, it started on the 28th of April and the painters finished the 10th and all of the apartment on 11th of May...that's 13-14 days. If that notice was the first one, I assure you, that there would have been upset people, but not the blow back you received. Yes the pipes were definitely old and we appreciate that they finally got done because we had brown water and no pressure, but I don't get a pat on my back for taking out the trash, because it was something that I'm suppose to do. So, when my wife calls and is made to feel as if a favor is being done on our behalf, for something that should have been done 25-30 yrs ago, it is upsetting. My wife has a severe allergy to dust and also strong smells, they trigger severe migraines. Also, without getting into our own personal business, our home was her only sacred place, her since of stability, the only place where she felt safe, I mean its the same for all of us...its home. So, imagine that was you, and then you see people come in and knock a whole not only in the living room, but also the kitchen. Then living with those holes, with the draft and smells for an additional week. Later, having both the people that patched up the walls, and the painters, two separate companies, on back to back nights leaving your the front door to you home unlocked and unattended to. We both work and we both came home late, to that, and the last night, to an overwhelming smell of paint because on a hot Tujunga day they didn't open any windows, the windows have screens, so they could at least have cracked them. On top of all of that, my wife being told that you have the right to come into our apartment anytime you want...How do you think that makes a woman feel in her own home, especially one that is so new to this country that she has almost no one and nothing else here? Just her Home... This is not a random rant either, because many of the tenants have their own stories and complaints, and none of us have even been offered any type of compensation, which would be fair. When construction like this is done, we should have gotten a heads up so we could make arrangements, or placed somewhere. I still have faith that the right thing will be done for all of the tenants and families...thank you for reading this, and I hope that things will be executed better next time, for tenants... Although we are no longer renting a property managed by SIG, I wanted to take a moment to express my utmost happiness with the company. We've never rented through a property management company before so we weren't sure how well things would be taken care of. We were pleasantly surprised from the beginning of our rental experience right down to the day we received our full deposit back in the mail. Every person we contacted at SIG was authentic and friendly and the vendors they use for repairs are top notch. They thoroughly screen their vendors so you can feel at ease if one of them needs to enter your home or apartment for repair or maintenance work. Angelica Idiaquez and David Ballou were fantastic, especially during the move out process. We had trouble in the past with other rentals and not receiving our full deposit despite going above and beyond to make sure our unit was cleaner than when we arrived. Angelica and David performed a complete walk-through and were extremely thorough communicating everything that was expected on our end. Also, both were super quick to respond to questions or inquiries both during our renting time and after we moved out. We couldn't ask for a better renting experience. The only reason why we are presently not using their services is because a close friend had a rental home available and we couldn't refuse the opportunity. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the SIG employees, vendors and home owner. I recommend SIG to anyone including property owners looking for a management company that truly understands the meaning of customer service and high quality property management. Dont Ever rent an apartment from SIG those people are rude and completely disrespectful. We are renting a place from them. They had to fixe the pipes from our unit after many complains. We had totally unhealthy water for month. They give us a notice that we needed to leave space under our sink to fixe the pipes, rather then that. They destroy the walls and started big construction all this for over 2 weeks !! They where coming into our place anytime when we where not there leaving the door unlock after there work. Last night they paint and we had to sleep in the middle of painting furniture. All our staff where pushed away on the floor and leave there in the dust. They refused to give us any discount on the rent or located us somewhere else during that time. Also we found asbestos into the wall, witch can affect severely your health. All winter the heater was not working!!! We moved in with a sink broken and fixed with glue, of course after a while it break and they make US pay a new one !!! They don't care about you leaving in there our neighbors have kids and they are leaving the same situation. This management company should not even be in business. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM Angelica is the person that take care of our unit, she is not even trying to understand the situation, it is almost impossible to see her or talk to her !!! We are hoping to move from there as soon As we can !!! Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else Update from Michael review : He deleted my husband review !! And he lies totally ! The proper notice was giving Us AFTER the work have started !! Don't rent and don't trust SIG and the owner Michael read more

SIG has managed three of our properties for almost four years to the highest standard. They have a comprehensive team that can handle every possible need from day-to-day management of properties and tenants, maintenance and repairs, to more complex legal and governmental issues such as rent control and COVID restrictions. Unlike other property managers with whom we have worked, they actually visit properties regularly and perform annual in-unit inspections making sure smoke alarms are functioning and noting any deficiencies that need to be addressed or tenant related issues. We know our properties are in good hands. We are so grateful for our property supervisor, Angelica, who has so efficiently and professionally handled all the expected functions of a property manager with the same level of diligence and attention we, ourselves would give. She is proactive, researching and finding vendors to address unusual situations at our properties, finding better or less expensive vendors, and anything else she thinks might be helpful. She recently saved us almost $3,000 per year by finding a better insurance provider. She has handled some very difficult tenant situations, resolving them in a way which I know is not, but always seems effortless. She not only quickly, put patiently responds to any and all of our questions. I am convinced that we are her only client! Our properties have never been in better condition and operating at their highest efficiency. Thank you SIG and thank you especially, Angelica! read more

**INCREDIBLE - PROFESSIONAL & FRIENDLY COMBINED! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ** *** S.I.G. Property Management = QUALITY GUARANTEED *** S.I.G. Property Management are a refreshing Company I cannot recommend them enough as a GREAT rental Service! Misty (Property Supervisor) and Jeff are amazing in the way they deal with any concerns, responsive, professional and caring about their renters and ensure that the properties are kept in incredible condition. When S.I.G Property Management took over the building we rented in they immediately made a difference with improvements and if we ever had anything needed to be repaired it was dealt with swiftly and seamlessly. S.I.G also implemented an ONLINE Service for tenants that enabled a convenient way to Pay the Rent and also report any maintenance requests. Misty and Jeff also made sure to follow up on any maintenance issues to ensure things were done to a high standard and were always great communicators whenever we needed to get in touch, which is a reflection on how S.I.G provide an amazing service. Well done S.I.G for making a tenants life easier! I can certainly recommend S.I.G Property Management as a terrific company, they are experts at offering superb rentals and follow up with exceptional service and amazing employees. S.I.G Property Management = A Quality Company. If we could give more than 5 Stars - We would!!! read more

Peace and quiet will never been consistent which means poor sleep because of the paper thin walls, cheap loud flooring and heavy-handed loud residents with surprise "guests" that become regular tenants not listed and paid for on the lease. You can tell what room your neighbors are in everyday. That is how thin the walls are. The apartment building is also decaying and if there was an earthquake I'm sure this building would fall to the ground as there has been no maintenance on the cracking roof and structure. Heavy turnover and they don't choose tenants based on longevity. In order to keep tenants and stop turnover you have to select quality tenants which goes beyond if they can afford to settle for an apartment with no amenities. I don't think they require people to read the lease anymore since people disregard the rules and we have no active or reliable manager to handle issues. I had a friend that moved out because of noise issues and lack of amenities. They need to make it a habit to send out reminders of the rules automatically to all residents at least twice a year along with the consequences especially with the turnover problem. read more

I spoke to Jessica about scheduling a viewing and she is not helpful at all. She hung up the phone and never returned our call. I don't know how many receptionist this company have but I am grateful with 2 particular people who help us with our application process very much less stressful. Karrie assisted us in viewing the apartment and guide us how to submit an application. The other person, Alie has been very responsive on updating us on our application. The first apartment we are interested in were rented out and we are given the option to transfer our application to another apartment within the same building. Alie requested for excessive documentation but we really appreciate how she explained the need for those information and documents. She even advised us to cover any confidential information in our bank statements! And we were completely blown when she emailed us after business hours just to give us an update. We intend to rent for many years to come and we will not hesitate to recommend SIG Property Management to our friends and colleagues!!! read more

I have owned a 1950s triplex for many years, and have managed the property myself and then have been through a couple of property management companies. S.I.G. Property Management has been managing this small property for me for many years, I've lost count how many. 1. They are personal and hands-on. I can always get in touch with the person in charge of my property. They always ask me before anything out of the ordinary has to be done. If I have some particular issue, I can get in touch with the principal. Otherwise, it goes along smoothly. 2. They are exact and prompt with payments and accounting. Monthly statements are available on their web portal. Not only are they honest, with this level of accounting there's not even a chance for them not to be. 3. It's pleasant and low-key to deal with them. I have used other property managers where there was always a little delay, a little shaving, a slight suspicion of mild scam. There's none of that with S.I.G. Property Management. read more

I want to commend Stephanie brown for her urgency on getting a plumber to come over and taking care of my overflowing toilet! After coming home from a late movie, and trying to get ready for bed, I went to the bathroom and after flushing the toilet it started to overflow!! I called S.I.G properties and listened to their detail message on how to place a "emergency call after hours" within 5 minutes after leaving a message. Stephanie called me back, with a very friendly and polite greeting and told me that she got my message and had placed a service call with the plumber and within an hour or so they will be calling me to let me know the arrival time! It's people like stephanie and management properties like S.I.G that take good care of their tenants. I am very pleased to know I'm in good hands with them. I strongly recommend anyone who is interested in moving in, you will have a great experience with S.I.G read more

I see all these negative reviews so I wanted to comment. I have been living at the apt rented by SIG for almost 3 years. We applied and and got a decision of acceptance by the next day. We knew that we were going to get picked because we knew the importance of having a good tracking record financially, credit history etc. These kind of companies will always choose the best applicants out of all of them, this is common sense practice for any business. So for people to complain because they didn't get chosen because of credit is simply unheard of. As far as service... We are pain in the butt tenants, one thing breaks and we request a maintenance request immediately. SIG has responded to those requests in hours. One time we had a 911 emergency meeting and they called the plumber in at 10 pm. Never had an issue with them. Thank you SIG read more

Current tenant of a property allegedly managed by SIG. I stopped paying rent approximately 2 years ago because of a fraudulent lease on the property. They are a bunch of scammers as some of these reviews say and I am confident the positive ones are them posing as fake people boosting their ratings. They started allegedly managing the property I live on starting 2020 of April. I paid them rent for about 18 months being scammed until I came to realize they are a bunch of lairs. After that I stopped paying rent and until now I am a tenant on their property owing somewhat 35-40k as their portal says. These people are a bunch of liars, scammers, and the worst of the worst. I personally would love to start a petition for yelp to allow no stars to be given because I don't think I should be limited to being required to at least select 1 star. read more

SIG has been great to work with over the last 6 months. Being an out of town owner, management is ever so important. We have been with a management company for over 10 years and have recently turned over three smaller properties to SIG to see how everything goes prior to transitioning the whole portfolio over to them. Without a doubt, we are quite impressed with their professionalism, follow through, organization and accounting. Megan McCauley was assigned as our contact at the company and she has been great to work with. The residents have been happy with her attention to detail, responsiveness, and her "willingness to help attitude." I would highly recommend SIG to anyone looking for a professional management company with good and honest people all the way around. read more

I am so grateful that I stumbled upon SIG. Elie, the sweet girl who helped me with my application is honest, kind and patient person who really care about people. I was unsure about renting and she patiently answers all my questions even though she mentioned she is not the Property Supervisor. By the way, Angelica and the other girl Lyn are awesome too! They walked me thru the process, from the time I was having trouble viewing the apartment until my application was approved. It was a wonderful experience from the start and their team is great, PROFESSIONAL and very responsive. I highly recommend SIG Property and look forward to being a tenant for many years to come. Thank you for being honest and exceptional! read more
