In late 2014 just before Christmas, we had a house fire. My wife, little boy, and 120-pound dog moved into a hotel. I wish I could say that Scott was the first person we hired, he wasn't. (See my other reviews for the gory details and to save yourself from the same fate.) When we hired Scott, our home was full of problems, sloppy workmanship, and dangerous code violations. More than that, we had completely lost faith that there was anyone left in the construction business who cared more about their customers and product than their bottom line. Scott and his company changed all of that. I could write this review for hours. I could give example after example of the times they went above and beyond to help us repair our home and return our lives to normalcy. I have witnessed, first hand, Scott's attention to detail. I have stood by his side and said that something looks great -- later overhearing him point out flaws to his crew, that only he noticed, and requesting that his workman fix them on his own dime. It would have been easy for him to move on, knowing that I was happy with the work, but that's not who Scott is. When you make a decision to build, rebuild, or remodel a home -- sometimes we don't take into account how important our time and sanity is. Sometimes we trade it for a slightly lower price. We also had Rhino refresh our smaller lattice cover at the dining room French doors. Demolition started in late July 2025 and the project finished in late August 2025. The end result is EXACTLY what we had envisioned. Rhino's crews were extremely conscientious. We could not have asked for a better work ethic. They protected the existing stucture and landscaping throughout the project. They cleaned up every day. ALL crew members were very professional and their work products were perfect. The crews were always cheerful, courteous and careful in every task that they performed. Know also that Rhino Construction builds custom homes. Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic. I also took into consideration their work in the local Long Beach/Lakewood area which I think is important. I would use them again and recommend them for similar projects!

What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

Jason was the one that came out and he did a smaller system quote for me and my wife. Jason couldn't for the life of him tell me how the system was even more expensive than not using a prepaid ppa. I was also ignored by phone calls and "I'll get back to you" was what he told me. I would stay away and use some other company that is very clear about how the new incentives work.

They were able to send out a couple of guys; They vacuumed the tiles of my house and also brought in several dehumidifiers, which were on for the next two weeks. The dehumidifiers got rid of the excess moisture in the air and on the surrounding tiles, and carpet. Then, a guy name Avi came with his moving crew, and they were really nice guys. They took a couple of days to wrap up all of our furniture and box all of our clothing from the closets in a very orderly fashion. All of our stuff was treated with respect and dignity, and they worked very fast. Then, we started working with a man named Dekel. He was very accommodating, a great listener and he was very patient listening to our story as to what happened with the flood. We had a couple of major events in our life, which happened shortly before the flood, and this is the last thing that we needed! Due to our home insurance acting very slowly on our claim, my husband and I had to sleep out in the living room on an air mattress for 2 months. However, the workers from Restoration 911 did everything that we asked them to do, including extra work that was not included with our claim, and they did so professionally and with no complaints. We even had a worker come on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They did not fuss working holidays and they worked with our ever fluctuating work schedules.
