Saw a billboard for a cheese shop on our way north and had to stop. Once we looked it up, we realized it was right off the freeway and easy to get to. There are no signs, so be sure to pull it up from your favorite map app and don't stop at the factory, go just past it and then you'll see the shop. Carol and Nancy were so welcoming and helpful. They answered all our questions and told us a little about the company. We told them we would stop by on our way back home, and they had samples of the cheeses we wanted to try ready for us! Service beyond extraordinary and delicious cheese and other products. Their hatch chile Jack and the lemon yogurt are top favorites. Cute little shop and friendly people serving delicious cheese? No brainer.

Ever since Joe K had bought some gourmet Sierra Nevada cheeses and real butter from none other than Grocery Outlet, he became hooked! It didn't take long for him to start researching where these organic, naturally wholesome dairy products came from! As luck would have it, Joe and I were going to travel I-5 on our way to my cousins wedding! This dairy farm was right along the way! The exit had easy to understand on and off convenience. Once we located the large factory building, the entrance was just in front with directory signage. Upon entering, I was expecting a touristy style, sizable store with aisles of dairy products and possibly some free sampling. But my expectations had a complete turn around when we walked in to a teeny tiny office with one glass enclosed, serve yourself refrigerator! Once I recovered from my initial disappointment, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member, eager to serve. Joe was still enthusiastic about his list of products and was like a kid in a candy store choosing all the different flavors and types of cheeses to take with us for the pre-wedding family gathering! We even bought an additional large brick of cheddar to take home with us for later enjoyment! Needless to say, everyone loved our selections during the wine and cheese party. The Sierra Nevada Cheese Company is based on all natural, traditional dairy manufacturing with local farmers, that are non GMO, and produces old fashion creamery flavors. The prices are a lot less when you buy directly from this company, than getting them at a grocery store. We were even impressed to see that they utilize solar power! After eating some of these delicious dairy products, we have now become cheese snobs and loyal fans of Sierra Nevada!

You purchase mainly cheese but a few other things are available. Biggest problem they are not open on weekends.

Simply the best raw milk goat cheese I have ever had. I bought mine at the Whole Foods in Santa Monica, 5th & Wilshire.

It's unfortunate that this dairy gets marked down by some consumers(Rene V,) who clearly don't understand the product.

I called, the lady said she would have to get back to me the next day about our request. She called 20 minutes later & said that would work. I was so excited, it was all I was looking forward to for weeks. We show up a few minutes before our 9:00 am class, there was a woman in the window measuring things, we wave, she waves back. Then she keeps measuring. We keep waiting. Finally, around 9:08 I knock on the window & motion for her to meet us at the door. She comes around, "Hi, we are here for our 9:00 am class", "Oh, uh...I'm just renting the kitchen, no one else is here"... She called the owner, a few minutes later comes back with "I didn't know they confirmed for the class". The woman renting the kitchen was very apologetic, invited us in to write down our names/numbers so that the owner could get in touch with us. & did they? Nope. Which brings me here today. I wouldn't have left a bad review if they had called me & tried to talk it through, but nothing... nothing, at all. I'm all about customer service & will be loyal to a fault, especially to local & small business. I get it, things happen. BUT its been over 3 weeks now, and nothing back? Super disappointing.

Farm-to-table magic on California's North Coast…read more One of our favorite stops and one we still daydream about was Pennyroyal Farm. The cheeses alone are worth the drive, especially their Laychee which happened to be studded with fresh blueberries when we visited. If you try only one thing, make it the seasonal Laychee. It's unforgettable. We also devoured their ultra creamy deviled eggs, sipped wine, and ordered a cheese board because, honestly, cheese was the only thing on our minds. Boonville sits about 115 miles north of San Francisco, tucked among vineyards, redwoods, and small-town farmland. This whole stretch feels like a little slice of heaven. Stepping onto the property, it reminded me of a European farmstead. What makes Pennyroyal so special is that everything you taste comes directly from this land: goats, sheep, gardens, vineyards, cheese, wine - all feeding into each other on the same 66-acre ecosystem. Nothing is outsourced. They're open daily, and you can grab a table overlooking the vineyards or wander over to meet the animals and the people behind your very happy stomach. If you're exploring California's North Coast, this place belongs on your list.

Great for kids, even the younger kids won't complain about the walk and the animals are exciting for them. Following the farm tour was the wine and cheese tasting, which was excellent of course. There are many great wineries in this area and the wine was good, but the specialty is on the cheese. The cheese was amazing! They offer a limited food menu (think heavy snacks or appetizers rather than a full meal) and the food was also excellent. Plenty of space for the kids to run around. At my next visit I'm bringing an ice cooler so that we can take cheese to-go for home enjoyment. Overall this is a delightful and kid-friendly wine and cheese tasting and I look forward to my next visit.
