We have come over here a few times now during their wine and cheese pairing events! The price differs as the participating winery changes each time but that means you get to try many different labels! The cheese tasting is included with the wine and offers many different types to try a long with a couple crackers for the softer cheese. Sometimes the place is packed with people tasting and sometimes its more intimate and you get the chance to talk to other patrons. In a crowd it can be quite loud and busy instead but there is outside seating (doggies welcome on the patio!) The Cheese Company shop itself will sell you any of the cheeses you tasted and they have a frozen yogurt machine offering vanilla froyo and a couple toppings to choose from if desired for $5- $6. read more

OMG! Loved this roadside stop. We are in an RV - so this kind of place is perfect for us. Not only some really great cheeses (cow and goat), but also olives, olive oils, pickled things, crackers, goat yogurt!!!, and other items. Saw a billboard for a cheese shop on our way north and had to stop. Once we looked it up, we realized it was right off the freeway and easy to get to. There are no signs, so be sure to pull it up from your favorite map app and don't stop at the factory, go just past it and then you'll see the shop. Carol and Nancy were so welcoming and helpful. They answered all our questions and told us a little about the company. We told them we would stop by on our way back home, and they had samples of the cheeses we wanted to try ready for us! So disappointed in Siera Nevada's "organic farmhouse cream cheese". Doesn't taste like cream cheese at all, absolutely flavlorless. Have to eat a LOT in order to get the slightest cream cheese taste, and it stays crumbly too despite trying to stir it to get it spread easier. Wish I saw the other review before purchasing. Ever since Joe K had bought some gourmet Sierra Nevada cheeses and real butter from none other than Grocery Outlet, he became hooked! It didn't take long for him to start researching where these organic, naturally wholesome dairy products came from! As luck would have it, Joe and I were going to travel I-5 on our way to my cousins wedding! This dairy farm was right along the way! The exit had easy to understand on and off convenience. Once we located the large factory building, the entrance was just in front with directory signage. Upon entering, I was expecting a touristy style, sizable store with aisles of dairy products and possibly some free sampling. But my expectations had a complete turn around when we walked in to a teeny tiny office with one glass enclosed, serve yourself refrigerator! Once I recovered from my initial disappointment, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member, eager to serve. Joe was still enthusiastic about his list of products and was like a kid in a candy store choosing all the different flavors and types of cheeses to take with us for the pre-wedding family gathering! We even bought an additional large brick of cheddar to take home with us for later enjoyment! Needless to say, everyone loved our selections during the wine and cheese party. The Sierra Nevada Cheese Company is based on all natural, traditional dairy manufacturing with local farmers, that are non GMO, and produces old fashion creamery flavors. The prices are a lot less when you buy directly from this company, than getting them at a grocery store. We were even impressed to see that they utilize solar power! I was vegan and have since gone back to eating meat and dairy. I would not settle for CAFO products so I checked my local health food store for grass fed and finished beef and dairy. When it came to cheese I was clearly sold on Sierra Nevada cheese products because they are from grass fed cows and they also carry raw cheese. When we tasted it we were instantly sold. So much so that we got on their website and decided on the 5 lb loaf which, even with shipping, is less expensive than our local health food store. We live in Redding, Ca. which is not that far from Sierra Nevada Cheese Co. They pack their cheese so well and also include two big blocks of ice. The first time was not a problem because the heat was not here yet. The second time, the shipping company held the package a second day so shipping was late. The ice had melted and the cheese was slightly soft. I contacted Sierra Nevada Cheese and they said the cheese should still be good and if not to contact them and they would make it right. With immediate refrigeration we found the cheese to be as delicious as always. Now we're into high heat (triple digits) and I worried about our order. When it came, I was so pleased to find four blocks of ice in the box instead of two. Even with extreme temps our cheese was in perfect condition. It helped that it was next day shipping. This company goes all out to make sure their product arrives in perfect condition. The Organic Raw Cheddar is excellent and I recommend it to all my friends. I will be buying this companies product as long as they keep making it. We are 100% sold on this cheese! read more

I had to post review after reading a few from folks who think their cream cheese is anything less than amazing. Clearly the one's impression of quality cream cheese is highly subjective. I'm a total foodie, a transplanted New York Jew, and I finally found a decent bagel made by a local chef who has a pop-up near Alice's restaurant in la Honda on Thursdays. The only cream cheese I would consider to go with his fantastic bagels is Sierra Nevada's farmhouse cream cheese. People describe the texture in various ways but I would call it somewhat crumbly but still cream cheese. People are used to guar gum based texture, which is artificial. This is real cream cheese without the crap, what your grandparents would have made on their dairy farm in the 1950s. I find it more tangy and better flavored then commercial cream cheeses. I've introduced my foodie friends to it and they all love it. My local store was recently out of it and they were carrying something called Amish cream cheese in it's stead. Guess what ingredient they had in the cream cheese? Guar gum. I'll take the crumbly texture and authentic taste of the farmhouse cream cheese any and everyday. People who honed their perception of cream cheese on Philly brand are sorely misguided. I will drive to multiple stores to get my fix of this stuff! read more

Google Maps has no clue where this place is. So, trust me. Take road 39 exit off the 5 (north of downtown Willows) and head east. There is a quick jog in the road when you hit Hwy 99. But turn left, then an immediate right. That will keep you on Road 39. Follow those shiny stainless steel milk trucks around the corner to some big old buildings with a dirt parking lot and you will have arrived. Go to the small white buildings in the back, and enter at the middle door with no signs. You'll walk into a room full of desks. Don't worry. Trust me. You are in the right place. They will take you into a small lunch room with a small commercial refrigerator. That's all folks. Now start asking questions because there is no tasting here. Their specialties are raw cow's milk cheeses, goat cheese, flavored cheeses, and goat butter. And trust me again, buying it here was a win win. I got a block of cheddar that I saw in another store just down the road, for $3 more. Great cheese at a no nonsense price, and a no nonsense location. Trust me, you'll be happy you came. read more

I discovered the yogurt this company makes. I choose it because the cows were treated humanly and they are grass fed. I don't eat a lot of dairy products because of the poor integrity of the cows and the cruelty associated with this industry, but MY GOODNESS WHEN I TASTED THE PLAIN YOGURT, FULL FAT AND THE VANILLA OMG THE BEST YOGURT ON THE PLANET. the top had a cream layer that was divine. it was absolutely delicious. They make honest cream cheese! I bought a container at the Cheese Board in Berkeley and spread it all over some Cheese Board pumpernickel bread. Now that was a great combination! This cream cheese tastes way, way better than Noah's shmears and it has about 98 fewer ingredients than Noah's shmears. I got the "traditional," but there's also the blueberry, the garlic and chives, and the jalapeno. SNCC also makes a lot of jack cheese. If you like jack, you've probably had some of theirs. read more

I'm just opened a container of the plain whole milk yogurt- I can't believe how delicious it is! Sure, the drizzle of maple syrup helps the product a lot too. But I haven't had such a high quality yogurt since I was in the UK, where all the sheep, goat, and cows openly graze on green pastures. Job well done! Okay, we went TO the dairy in Willows: it's the place they actually make cheese, not a fru-fru tasting room with cows and goats artfully arraigned in a Potemkin village. It is really a working creamery and we had to drive around to the back to find the office. The managerial type (perhaps one of the owners) had sent the office staff to lunch, but he gamely found the price list and showed us the selection they had in a small meeting-room refrigerator. Goat butter rocks. It melts from the temperature of your mouth (no matter how innocent you are). The goat cheddar and smoked cheese were really good. They even had real curds. And the cream cheese is noticeably better than even a good market or cheese store. I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to go to Willows (that's what a sophisticated transportation system is for), but if you are driving up during the week, drop by. It's just off Highway 5, past 99, over the railroad tracks, on the right. Perhaps enough retail customers will inspire them to set up a little stand closer to the road with some local produce, bread, and wines. read more

Depending on what cycle of the cheese making process, or which way the wind is blowing this place can stink to high heaven!. But oh.. the cheese is GREAT. Local markets offer the little 8 oz containers of many of their cheeses(I am sold on their organics personally) But the drive from Chico is well worth the trip. They have specials on the "irregular"(funny cuts/chunks) that are priced VERY low.. and even their retail prices are quite reasonable. Note the shop is now in the little bungalow now right next to the FEDEX/UPS/Ring Bell Door, no longer in the back. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and while it seems a long way to go for cheese it is well worth the trip if you buy in bulk. I stocked up for a while, but I most certainly will be back.. and if I move out of the area I will more than likely order some shipped. I can say nothing of their other products. I have only tried their solid natural cream cheese and their organic cream cheese. Not the best. The natural cream cheese has nothing creamy about it. It has a dry and flaky consistency that makes it impossible to spread. The organic cream cheese is easier to spread, but doesn't taste like cream cheese. It just tastes like partly solidified cream, or something like an underripened triple-cream brie or something. Palatable, not recommended. read more

This place is a game changer! I have never been to their actual location but I stumbled upon their organic cream cheese chub and I am SO glad that I did! The cream cheese is like no other! Fluffy, with a little tang...like the clean flavors you would get from plain yogurt! It's not waxy like the other cream cheeses you would find in a grocery store. I also love their plain yogurt with cream on top! I get the individual cups and pour a little maple syrup on top! Their ingredients are clean and simple. My company brings in bagels on paydays and I stopped eating the Big Chain cream cheese when I saw it had monosodium glutimate and maltodextrin, as well as a full list of other crap I don't want to eat. Yeah, I'm that girl in the office who eats healthy and makes you feel guilty about your choices just by saying I won't eat that stuff. So my husband bought me the Sierra Nevada original cream cheese and I brought it this morning to eat my bagel. The flavor instantly transported me back in time to my childhood when I could go to a local bagel shop and get a bagel with real cream cheese, not this gum-preservative-artificial flavored crap you find today. I thought it was absolutely delicious and I feel sorry for all those people out there who think chemicals make better tasting food. Yeah, I'm that girl. Keep it up, Sierra Nevada. Now five stars are supposed to represent "as good as it gets" according to Yelp, and that's exactly my intent with my rating. I'm a consumer, having purchased both organic and conventional, of SNCC's natural roll cream cheeses and their organic yogurts. I'm also a wholesale customer, utilizing their CC and organic butter in some of the products we offer at our three cafes. To me their cream cheese is the gold standard of a classic cultured cheese, the complete opposite of of the tasteless spreadable Philly style of "stabilized" cream cheeses. The flakey texture and pronounced flavor are exactly what I'm looking for in a natural cc. Stabilized cream cheeses, usually with added fillers, plus guar gum and carageenan as stabilizers, are cheaper, mass market products which have a place in the market. It's unfortunate that this dairy gets marked down by some consumers(Rene V,) who clearly don't understand the product. If you want the full flavor and experience of this cream cheese but want something spreadable, just splash a little milk or half and half and mix it up in a small bowl--easy peasy! Their yogurt is equally high quality IMO, with most of my experience being the Grazers line of fruited cups; amazing yogurt flavor, and no too sweet on the fruit addition which is important to me. Really like this dairy and their products, and after nearly two years of doing business with Sierra Nevada I've always had very positive customer service! read more

Sierra Nevada has great cheese. This is not exactly a cheese shop, but it is the office of the company. They have a fridge in the conference room. In addition to being able to buy from a complete line of their cheese, the prices are really excellent - 6 pieces of organic premium cheese for $22. Had they had goat butter, we would have purchased some. The woman at the desk completed our order and was really friendly. She answered all of our questions. Ask the desk person which stores in your local area carry their products. If you are passing by Willows on the way to or from Ashland, (or beyond) you have to stop here. It is only a few miles off of the road. How to get there without becoming confused: Park at the first opportunity where others are parking; walk down the road to a low building "behind" the main plant; go into the the third door from the left to the right. read more

I bought a 24-oz container of whole milk yogurt (unflavored) yesterday, and it was excellent. Good body to the product, although I can't comment on whether the carton subsequently filled with water draining out of the yogurt because the stuff didn't stick around long enough to find out. I am a big fan of their smoked cheese. It is the best smoked cheese I have tasted so far. I have eaten it sliced alone or on crackers. I tried it in a recipe with potatoes and it was wonderful. I've only found it in certain stores that carry more specialty cheeses so that's a bummer. I will be interested in trying their other products. read more

I had their Grazier's yogurt--best yogurt ever! It stays thick and creamy and doesn't get watery like other yogurts do. I just learned about the Willows location and can't wait to stop by the next time I head up to visit family. I love stopping at the Olive Pit, too. Well, if they're trying to show they care, they're failing miserably both in perception and execution! I bought some of their organic cream cheese. It's the worst cream cheese I've had. Their website claims: "The traditional version has a rich flavor and creamy texture. Garlic & Herb is full of flavor, while maintaining the rich and delicate texture of the Original variety. Both are fresh and spreadably soft." So, I'm telling you it's neither rich nor creamy! It's the blandest cc I've ever had. And don't try to spread it cause it'll be all over the floor and your shoes. Feel lucky if you can corral any of it on bread, fruit, veg, etc. Now to perception. They provide little information about themselves on their site. If you don't want to spend time on the phone you have to use their web form to "mail" them. So I did. They didn't send me the customary auto-reply acknowledging receipt of the submission nor any reply at all. My conclusion. Their product is lousy and they really don't care. It tells me they're smug and arrogant and don't need my business. So, guess that'll work out for them. I'll never buy from them again! read more
