This place is cute and I recommend if you're always near this area to check it out. I usually don't come around this area but came because I found them on social media. I wasn't too impressed with the drinks I ordered and the burrito I ate. I got my daughter a banana liquado which was okay. I also got a cold brew horchata since I always try horchata flavors everywhere I go. It's the go-to drink I tend to buy. Once again it was just okay. I notice they brew using Picaresca coffee and Picaresca is much closer to the area I frequent. Anyways, I loved the vibe of the place, it's cute and I hope they get lots of service.

Sierra Mexican Cafe is a Mexican inspired cafe. It's located right on the Tweedy Mile near South East High School (go Jaguars!). It's a cute little coffee shop with deep roots in its community. If you follow them on their social media, you're able to see just how much they're involved. Sierra Cafe's mission encapsulates the community of SELA and its culture. As someone who grew up in SELA, I can't remember having many places like these, so it's great to see such a small but powerful community resource. Coffee 8/10 We tried their Spanish and piloncillo lattes, both with almond milk. Both were very good but I was left a bit disappointed with the lack of piloncillo flavor my latte had. I'd love to go back and try their cafe de olla. Regardless, both coffees were strong and tasteful. Food 8/10 For food, we got a little of everything. We ordered their breakfast chorizo con papa burrito, strawberry banana toast, chia pudding, turkey torta, and their mole poblano wrap. If you try anything from here, please let it be the mole poblano wrap!!! That was I don't order mole in a lot of places because they make it too sweet but this mole was perfect. Not sweet but had a little kick to it. Absolutely delicious!! The wrap has rice and queso fresco as well. The toast and chia pudding were bomb and my toddler killed both. Their chorizo con papa burrito seems to be very popular because we got the last one (at 9am). In my opinion, the burrito had more papa than chorizo. It was flavorful but left us wanting more. For the price though, it's a good portion. Vibes/Ambiance : 9/10 We visited on a Friday morning and it was a bit busy. Staff were very friendly and very accommodating. I noticed they greeted everyone who came in. It feels very home-y. Parking can be a bit tricky and if you're lucky enough, you'll find a spot behind the shop. If not, street parking is your next option. There's a back patio too and plenty of seats inside. Overall, it's a great cafe in SELA! Brought back so many memories of my high school days. It was great even seeing some students having their breakfast there before school. Check this local gem out!!!

After seeing a TikTok about this place, I had to try it! Before going I read the reviews here but it doesn't reflect the attentive service that is present in the establishment. I did get there too late to have their breakfast, but still tried their Mole burrito and it was DELICIOUS! Their coffee was made very tasty, and the workers are sure to ask if you would like any add-ons or other changes. As we ate the girls there made sure to ask if we needed anything else and made sure we enjoyed the food. Can't wait to go again !

This place is a whole vibe and a half!!! Their staff is nothing short of amazing and we received everything super fast as well. Sierra Cafe truly highlights the literal beauty of Mexican Culture with its colorful mosaic adorned walls and coffee/food selection. All of their flavors are made in house AND their ingredients are so fresh. I got the banana latte and I'm not kidding when I tell you in a blink it was gone because of how fast I finished it lol their Torta pairs so perfectly with their salad and the ingredients again, so fresh and not too heavy. They offer seating in doors and outdoors as well and if you're looking for catering, their prices are very very reasonable! My company just placed a last minute catering order and Lucy and her staff made everything so easy. Such a beautiful shop I am so happy to be connected to now! If you're reading this it's your sign to try it! Lol

I was getting my car maintenance around the corner and I stopped by! I was super impressed with how cozy and welcoming the ladies were. The menu was easy to read and had so many options! I went with a matcha latte and a chia pudding. They even gave me a mole tamal. It was all delicious! When in the area I will be back!

Came here for a quick breakfast date and we really enjoyed it! The mole poblano wrap was the standout! Super flavorful and tasted homemade. I'd definitely go back just for that. The chorizo con papa burrito was also solid, especially at $5. Good flavor and a good portion. The French toast surprised me in a good way. Not overly sweet, which I actually like. I also got two iced lattes: one Café de Olla and one Mexican Chocolate. Both were pretty milky, but still good and not too strong. Service was great. Everything came out quickly. There's a cute little patio area in the back that makes for a nice spot to eat outside. Only thing is parking can be a little tricky, but theres street parking around the block. Overall, a really nice hidden gem in SOLA area. Will be back!

First time trying out Sierra. My sister recommended it. I loved the decor and the music selection was great. I ordered a chicken Chipotle Sandwich, which by the way, had a perfect toast to it. Nice and crunchy. Flavor was awesome. My sister had a chorizo con papa burrito and my husband has a mole burrito which was fire! As a dessert we had the banana bread which was so delicious! Overall, I would go back again. They were sold out of the their French toast so I'm hoping to go back for those. Service was great overall. Staff was so nice. Definitely, coming back.

Lucy, immediately welcomed me when I first arrived from my run! I decided to take my lunch after running and this cafe spot kept coming up as a recommendation. I have tried their other spot, Sierra Guisados, which have the most tastiest guisados I've ever tasted! I decided to try their Mile Burrito and their infamous Banana Latte, and let me say, I was not disappointed! I enjoyed my time at the cafe shop and noticed that more people began to arrive and order lunch. The shop is clean and parking is available in the back! Such a neat and fun spot!

Such a cute spot in Southgate! I came with my best friend for a quick bite -- I had their all-natural strawberry smoothie and a mole wrap with rice and queso fresco (SO good!). My friend loved her cafecito de olla and chicken chipotle sandwich. The vibe is cozy and friendly, and even though they didn't have a high chair, my baby did just fine. The staff was super welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely coming back!

super sweet staff and very homey vibe! my personal favorites are chicken chipotle sandwich and burrito which is pictured. and to drink the iced caffe de olla. I went to try their matcha out, i got it with oatmilk and piloncillo and i wasn't a fan a bit watered down and not much matcha flavor. I've gone 3 times and most likely will come again!

1st visit, which was a good impression, overall. I just ordered a drink (no food/bakery item), which *disclaimer* limits my review strictly down to 1 item of several to-try on their menu. The Hot version of their Mazapan Latte was good, but not great, as it felt a bit more watered-down & less flavorful, than anything. But again, not bad. I'd like to return to give this and other menu items another shot. My friends did order food (Chipotle Chicken sandwiches--which looked Huge) & another drink item (Cafe de Olla--which they commented to be a nice balance between milk and coffee). They were satisfied as well. As for service: Service was very welcoming, fast and efficient. Ambiance: The cafe is small with limited seating inside, but they have tried to maximize every corner to entertain enough people as they can. The outdoor patio seating area is another nice accomodation though. A cute thing to note is, the added decor & crafts, which animate the cafe with color. I also noticed that they have some sticky notes for customers to write on & leave their imprints, which adds on to the cute nature of the cafe. Will re-visit to try more.

Love the french toast! fresh fruits. Chipotle sandwich was delish! took a while for food to come out but totally worth it. Coffee can use a little work but i see the vision.

The first time was back in May with a friend during a special event that had a costumed character and a pretty long line outside. I also came back recently to try their limited-time Captain Buggy dessert and stopped by about an hour before closing. The atmosphere is easily one of the biggest reasons to come here. The entire inside is decorated to look like the interior of a pirate ship, and the walls are covered with the characters' wanted posters. If you're a One Piece fan, there's a lot to look at and it definitely makes the experience more fun. Service was great both times. During the first visit, there was a long line because of the event, but the staff were still really friendly and helpful despite the crowd. The second time I came in right before closing, and the staff were still welcoming and didn't make us feel rushed. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food and drinks. The first visit we ordered the matcha horchata, onigiri, katsu sandwich, and fried rice. Everything was better than I expected, especially considering this is more of a themed cafe experience. On my second visit, I got Captain Buggy's Carnival Crunch dessert, which actually tasted better than I was expecting! You'd think the fried PB&J uncrustable covered in fruity pebbles and topped with vanilla ice cream and sprinkles would be overwhelming, but surprisingly the flavors and textures went really well together! I'd honestly get it again. Overall, I really enjoyed both visits. The prices are pretty standard for an LA restaurant, so I didn't have any complaints there. Obviously, the biggest appeal is being a One Piece fan, but even beyond the theme, the food was solid and the staff were great. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the series, especially when they have special events or limited-time menu items. I'll probably be coming back here next time I'm in the area just to embrace my inner otaku.

We never liked the "entrance fee" that I obviously know about and I stand by what I said: ADULTS ARE FORCED TO ORDER THEIR SUBPAR OVERPRICED FOOD FOR ENTRY aside from the entrance fee for their kids. The SGV eats post - I wasn't talking about one post. Geraldyne has posted several times and most of those times people have chimed in with their experiences and she removed her entire posts so people won't find the comments. Once again, trust the low star ratings. If you read them, you'll see a lot of them echo what I've posted here. --- If you have a toddler or a young kid, avoid this place. Read the lower rated reviews, because those paint a more accurate picture than glowing reviews from people who got discounts to this place. Adults are forced to order a meal as an entrance fee, and all the choices are subpar and overpriced. There was only one lovely staff member, an African American woman that unfortunately seemed to have left, because everyone else were not friendly nor helpful, and are barely present. The husband who supposedly cooks the meal made the driest, toughest, inedible steak salad and I couldn't even get help with my meal because there was no staff around to help, and whenever the husband came out, he would just be zipping in and out so fast I couldn't even catch him, and I couldn't leave my daughter by herself. The food choices for kids are also subpar. The play area itself is also subpar. There's very little options to play with, and whatever is there are mostly broken toys or have missing parts. The "separate" area for younger kids are always a huge mess to the point where it's safer for a 1-2 yr old to be in the general area with how disorganized it is. It's nothing but an afterthought, and bigger kids go there to mess up that area all the time No one really goes to clean up or check the play areas periodically, so even though it's part of their "rules", you see kids throwing toys at other kids, kids leaving messes around, etc. The positive reviews about these place are probably from people who've only been there once and have had some sort of discount. As a previous repeat customer who tried to give this place multiple chances, it is nothing but a cash-grab by greedy owners who care nothing about kids. The owner, Geraldine, also loves to promote her business on Facebook groups, and even whine about lack of "support" from people, but when previous customers try to make suggestions or anything remotely resembling a valid criticism, she'll remove the post so no one sees it. It's very dishonest, and shows what kind of people run this business. There are better places to go to entertain kids in SGV, don't waste your time and money here.
