CHICKEN BURRITO in a bowl
Dennis L.

I got take out the southwest salad in a bowl and the chicken is moist with mozzarella cheese, rice, black beans, and bbq and southwest ranch. This combo of ranch and bbq is a party that I can't wait for it. It is a medley that goes perfectly with this burrito bowl that my taste buds get excited before I can eat another bite. When I went to pick up the place is always spotlessly clean and very low key vibe. The staff there are always helpful and pleasant.

JAGUAR BURRITO

Jaguar Burrito Steak Taco Shrimp Taco Lexi I love family owned local restaurants and that includes franchises. These are your friends and neighbors with their whole worlds invested in a brand they love and believe in. Sierra Grille Atlantic Beach is one that I love and believe in too. Located right over the ditch on Atlantic in the LA FITNESS plaza. Though slightly obstructed right from the road the beautiful seascape mural by Ansley Randall @ansleyrandall_art_4_sale stands boldly out to guide you in to the surf for fast fresh Southwest. The dining room is open and spacious so guests can spread out if looking for a little privacy. It's counter service and Lexi was super cool and friendly and very helpful when ordering. I've followed their IG for over a year and know they religiously post weekly and/or daily specials. Specials are random and not assigned certain days. I was lured in by Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills clip on their IG Specials post. The Jaguar Burrito jumped right out and sunk its claws into me. Grilled chicken, black beans, rice, blended cheese, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, jalapeños, ranch and served with chips and their Salsa Bar. Since it was Tuesday I had to order a few tacos so I got one steak and one shrimp both on lightly grilled soft flour tortillas. I loaded up at the Salsa Bar with Roja, Verde, Roasted Pepper, and regular salsa. They also offered a pineapple , onion and cilantro , and sliced jalapeños. I must have looked like a one man construction site dipping and swiveling and dunking and spreading while biting and crunching and sipping . The Jaguar, as you can see by the pics was a Big Cat all deliciously arranged and held together by a grilled tortilla. The shrimp taco was excellent with large fresh grilled shrimp that weren't fishy at all. The steak taco smacked of tender lean charbroiled steak. I did notice a Ginger Chicken Burrito on the menu with a Curry Ginger Sauce that I had to try. I pleaded with Lexi for a taste and she cheerfully brought me a sample with a small side of grilled chicken, a nice touch to show she really wanted me to enjoy it, and I did. So I definitely know what I'm getting next time. The vibe is very laid back beachy . The music is groovy and as I finished just before the dinner rush people slowly filled the dining room as I left, a great sign. Local franchisees work as hard as any of us to keep their employees paid and the lights on. If you're in the Atlantic Beach area stop in for some Fast Fresh Southwest at Sierra Grille Atlantic Beach.

CHICKEN QUESADILLA

Got take-out from here. Was not impressed. The chips were completely stale, like they genuinely tasted like they had been sitting out all week. I got the chicken quesadilla and southwest burrito. The quesadilla had a stupid amount of cheese in it and the burrito had way too much sauce. I was also only given a couple "salsas" for the chips, they were so ridiculously tiny it was laughable.

Sierra Grille is a hidden gem! I've lived in Jacksonville for many years and just recently discovered this restaurant! It's nestled in the heart of Atlantic Beach. There's abundant parking and easy to access. The staff are all very welcoming, helpful and friendly. They were happy to answer all of my questions and give great recommendations. The inside is well keep and on trend. It's more of a tropical mixed with industrial theme. My fiancé and I ordered quesadillas which were cooked to perfection. The flavors were delicious and we look forward to our next visit!! We didn't try the salsa bar yet but it looks tasty!

Surf and Turf Bowl

Really disappointed in the lack of service here. First they forgot the order then 30 minutes later forgot again. It seems the to go orders had everyone's attention and the paying customers were forgotten about. I ordered the surf and turf. The shrimp was extremely salty, so much so that it was inedible:( The salsa bar was nice though because the queso dip is so bland it needed a cup of salsa to make it palatable. I won't be back. I do not recommend

Love the one n Jax Beach, so it's unfortunate that this one lacks- but will try again once open longer. Location- Easy to get to, plenty of parking. Service- Quick order and was ready quick. Staff- Nice, helpful. Salsa bar- Ok. A few kinds, a bit messy and buffet style which made me concerned (other location packs them for you). Food- Lacked, all around: Veggie Burrito with chicken- lacked any flavor, just melded together. Nachos with chicken- ok. Super plain- cheese, beans, chicken. Beef tacos- basic, but good Surf and turf burrito- ok, but salty Surf and turf bowl- I can confirm the shrimp are what we're salty- super salty. To the point where I threw them away. Steak was ok, small chunks- not great flavor. Bowl needed more lettuce too- there was barely any. Presentation was good- even for takeout. Plain nachos are not good- opposite of the shrimp they were not salty at all. Seemed stale. I was excited there was another location, so disappointed, especially when you add the price tag which was $70+ before tip.

Mexican pizza with ground beef and added refried beans. Huge and delicious!

Was pleasantly surprised with my visit to the new Sierra Grille in AB (located where the old Jumpin Jax used to be). I hadn't been to a Sierra Grille in years but decided to give it another go, and so glad I did! The girls at the registers were super sweet and helpful making suggestions. The food came out quick and everything was fresh, had ample toppings, and exactly as ordered. The restaurant and bathroom was very clean...even the salsa bar which is an easy thing to get messy. I'll definitely be back soon!

If you're looking for fast but quality food, head in to Sierra Grille in Atlantic Beach! You order your favorite and then walk it over to load up on the salsa bar - my favorite! Sierra Grille is super kid friendly. They have video games for them, or for the kid at heart AND kids eat half price on Mondays! I love the platters. It is a great portion with salad, rice beans and your choice of protein. It also comes with a side of tortilla chips. And, if you are someone who's picky about ice...they've got that crunchy pellet ice. But they also serve adult beverages too - beer and wine.

Fresh, yummy & convenient Sierra Grille AB is a winner for me. It's perfect for a quick lunch and you can be as indulgent or as healthy as vou'd like to be. I recently went with my foodie friend @natedoesfood and he indulged a little, while I was able to stick to my calorie cut. While you're there, be sure to stop by the salsa bar to top your dish with yummy fresh salsas! WHAT WE ENJOYED: Mexican Pizza, Salmon Taco, Shrimp Taco, Carnitas Taco, Chicken Quesadilla, Taco Salad with Chicken

Cuban quesadilla

Sierra Grille! I came here for the Yelp event for a free quesadilla but of course had to try some things off the menu there as well. For the Yelp event I received a free cuban quesadilla. I thought it was good but found it interesting they used bread and butter pickles instead of dill. No hate here, I love bread and butter! Just a little different. My boyfriend got the grilled chicken burrito and we thought it tasted fresh and yummy. We did miss the rice and beans in it, but overall it had flavor and that fresh bite really was the winner there. Their salsa bar is also great. It's nice to be able to get different varieties of salsa without having to get us and ask. We thought everything at Sierra grille tastes fresh and delicious. If i find myself back in the Atlantic beach area again I will definitely visit!

Sierra Grille AB is one of many TexMex options available in Jacksonville. This location used to be Jumpin' JAX. I've been to Sierra Grille a few time and it's not bad but I always am a little underwhelmed. Chips: These come for free with most meals and they always disappoint me. They lack any kind of flavor at all. The good news is that they have a salsa/toppings bar which help to offset the blandness of their chips. If you're ordering delivery though this isn't an option (that I'm aware of...) Burritos as Bowls: I love a BIG chipotle bowl. I've ordered their Fajita Burrita and Chicken burritos as bowls and was disappointed by both. I find the portions to be small for the price and lacking in the staples you'd expect to find like beans and rice. The best thing that I've had from Sierra Grille is their nachos with a protein on top. I think they had pulled pork as an option when we went. These were delicious and with the salsa/toppings bar you can build a really nice nacho stack out of these!

Loving the variety on the menu compared to other locations (or maybe I just never noticed?). We got the chicken Mexican pizza and the ginger chicken bowl - both pretty good. For the ginger bowl, it was a little too saucy and cheesy for me - so personally, I'd ask them to go light on the cheese and put the sauce on the side. Loved the flavors though. Took full advantage of the salsa bar-- try the pineapple salsa it's my fave. There's a few tables outside, and the interior is such a clean, fresh and inviting space. Can't forget about the great service, it was friendly and fast. Will definitely come back.

Yeah, I know I'm guilty of writing a lot about San Diego here, especially when it comes to coffee…read moreshops and Mexican restaurants, but the plurality of both types of businesses there and plethora of excellent ones makes it easy and justifiable to make the comparison with food and coffee outlets here in JAX. Yes, allow me just this time too! Because this one is positive! Ultra positive! It took me quite a while to come to Cinco de Mayo (named after the 5th day of May 1862 Mexican army victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, also celebrated as a holiday by many in the USA). It has very nice and spacious outdoor seating, and when I walked in recently to see if they had "Taco Tuesdays," I was very impressed with the wall decor - so colorful with a true Mexican feel, along with some smaller US flags spread out in various places. This is a pretty large restaurant. With available seating both inside and outside (this restaurant is mostly booth and at the bar seating inside), I would think that though it may be very busy at times, people won't have to wait long to be seated. But who knows!? I've not been there for one of those types of days yet. On this day, it was fairly busy when we arrived in the evening. I learned earlier in the day that Taco Tuesdays are available here. From getting greeted and seated, to ordering our meals and to checks made on us throughout our time here, the customer service was outstanding! It was very enjoyable and, honestly, I felt like I was in San Diego at Cafe Coyote again! I said that numerous times to my dearest. Many times, on Taco Tuesdays restaurants can tend to sort of scrimp on the food inside the tacos. NOT HERE! We received six good-sized and well-filled tacos of both chicken and beef varieties. These are not Taco Bell sorts. But they did have cheese, lettuce and cilantro inside. You can get them hard or soft shell. Both were very good. I do recommend you add one of the sauce options at the table on them. We used Cholula sauce and they were perfect! Even though it was Taco Tuesday, we still received the complementary nachos and salsa too! I was really not expecting this courtesy! The salsa was not of the thick variety and tasted like the salsa at that place I loved in San Diego! We received a pretty large bowl of those nachos too! As a side, we ordered cheese dip to go along with it - another winner! In all, it was a great experience! And yes, it was Taco Tuesday, but I will do an update if necessary after trying one of the entrees on another day of the week. Until then, this place is stellar! I also am not surprised by its Yelp rating. Mexican restaurants always seem to rate this way out west too - I think people are over critical. Lighten up folks! No one ever has to have second thoughts about coming to Cinco de Mayo! Arriba! Recommend: VERY HIGH

The cheese dip was extremely good- perfect consistency and taste. My 3 coworkers all got some variety of the fajita quesadilla, and I got the pollo Maria (chicken with spinach and mushrooms). The portion sizes were good; I ended up taking half of mine home and had for lunch the next day. I will say that something about my dish was super salty. I think it was however the spinach was sautéed, but the rest of it was good. The restaurant had cute decor and was inviting. Pretty much your typical Mexican restaurant decor. I would probably come back if in the area but have other similar places closer to our house that we frequent.

The food is outstanding, the drinks are great, and the service is always quick, friendly, and attentive. We started with the Fritos Pie and added pulled pork--such a great decision! It made an already delicious appetizer even better. For our entrée, we shared the Texas "Trinity" (the "give me all the meats" option), which comes with ribs, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were unbelievable--fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The sausage comes in two varieties: regular and cheddar jalapeño. The cheddar jalapeño has a nice kick without being overpowering and was absolutely worth trying. On this visit, we upgraded our sides to two fresh salads, but during our first visit we had the baked beans and coleslaw, and they were both fantastic. Honestly, everything we've tried has been delicious. If you're spending the day at Neptune Beach and need a break from seafood, ABBQ is a must-visit. I keep trying to give them another chance, so when they invited me to make a reservation for the World Cup game tonight, I took the bait. I should have gone to Mojo's or Strings instead! I stopped ordering a brisket sandwich long ago because the buns were always hard and stale. Lately, I've been going with the two meat plate because the sides are usually very good, especially the potato salad and cowboy baked beans. The turkey is usually pretty good as are the ribs, but the brisket is always pathetic, especially for a guy from Texas looking for perfection. To be fair to the management, the bar and atmosphere never fails to impress me, but when I am missing good old fashioned Texas barbecue brisket, I will be going somewhere else that knows what they are doing. Come on y'all... My summary: over rated, over priced, and over done. Low and slow is the barbecue brisket mantra, but the pit master needs to go back to Texas for a refresher course in Austin, in my humble opinion!!!
