The pizza was excellent: a crisp, cracker-style crust with just the right amount of char, a sweet but not overpowering tomato sauce, good-quality toppings (would like more, though), and just enough grease to remind you that pizza is supposed to be a little indulgent. Now, don't get carried away--I'm not saying it's exactly like Palermo's. It's more like if Vito & Nick's and Palermo's had a baby. Disappointing Experience from a Once-Trusted Local Pizza Place…read more Little Frank's has been a go-to pizza place for my fiancé's family for over 20 years. Their pizza has always been really good, and even though I now live in Bolingbrook, I still look forward to ordering from them whenever I'm craving their pizza. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was so disappointing that we ended up canceling our entire order. We called in an order for pickup and were told it would be ready at 8:30 PM. When my father-in-law arrived, the pizza wasn't ready. After waiting approximately 15 minutes, we called him to check on the situation, and he was still waiting. When he asked the staff for an update, he was told that our pizza had apparently been sent out with a delivery driver and that they were waiting for the driver to return with it. Excuse me, what? Why was a pickup order sent out with a delivery driver in the first place? And why wasn't anyone communicating this to us from the beginning? We called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager, hoping someone could offer a reasonable solution. Instead, we were repeatedly told that the driver would be back in another 10 minutes. By that point, we would have been waiting over 30 minutes beyond the promised pickup time, with no guarantee that our pizza would even be fresh when it finally arrived back at the restaurant. We weren't interested in receiving a pizza that had been taken out for delivery and potentially needed to be reheated. We ordered fresh pizza for pickup, not a pizza that had to make an unnecessary trip with a delivery driver before reaching us. The manager offered no meaningful alternative or satisfactory resolution, so we ultimately had to cancel our order altogether. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've had issues with customer service at this location. Over the past few years, our experiences have left us feeling that customer service has declined significantly. Employees need proper training in communication and customer service, and management needs to be prepared to take responsibility when something goes wrong. Mistakes happen, but failing to communicate with customers and offering no real solution only makes the situation worse. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was once a trusted local favorite for our family. The pizza is good, which is why we keep coming back, but good pizza doesn't excuse poor service. It's frustrating to see a place with such a long history with our family deliver an experience like this. After more than 20 years of being a go-to spot for my family, this experience has seriously changed how we feel about ordering from Little Frank's. I hope management takes these concerns seriously because customers deserve better communication, accountability, and customer service.
