As with my past visits, Service is on point very attentive and is quick for the refills on water and soft drinks. They also have a good selection of craft beer and even though it's May they had a nice imperial stout on tap from dragons milk very tasty highly recommended. I ended up ordering our usual three meat. Pizza can't go wrong with the pepperoni the sausage and they're wonderful meatballs. We also got the Bardo appetizer platter since it has something for everybody on it. And to go, I ended up getting the breaded steak sandwich, which is on garlic bread very good. Highly recommended if you're in the area. read more

We had a wonderful time at Bartolini's today while in town. Their chicken dumpling soup was really good and their thin crust pizza was delicious. One member of our family had a calzone that they enjoyed and two others enjoyed their pasta with garlic bread. The owner came over and asked us about our visit and food towards the end. We came all the way from California after seeing a TikTok video on the deep dish. The restaurant invited us to make reservations and here we are. When we walked in we were greeted by the kindest hostesses and the owner Chris immediately came to our table to welcome us. He was so kind and just a wonderful soul. We ordered the deep dish, an appetizer meatball and Chris complimented us with the BEST cheesecake ever. The food was AMAZING, the cheese the pull the SAUCE to DIE FOR! I highly recommend BARTOLINI. Today, I stopped by this place that I have never tried before. With a little Yelp research, I discovered that one of the owners attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Reviews raved about the delicious meatballs. These were two very good reasons why I needed to stop in and try the food. As I pulled up to the almost completely full parking lot midday, I took this as a good sign. I enjoyed the flavorful chicken dumpling soup. Next up was a meatball sandwich which was good, but not great. There are plenty of good restaurants in the greater Chicago area that make delicious Italian style meatballs, like Calabria Imports in the Beverly neighborhood just a few miles away. The sandwich was good, but I guess I was expecting better. I also ordered the beer battered fried cod dinner which I thought was disappointing. I love cod when its fresh with a quick fry with a good batter and delicious fries. The fish was on the tasteless side, and the batter was only okay. The pieces looked like they were evenly cut into triangles like the factory sort you would find in a freezer section at your local grocery store. As for the fries, they were even more disappointing, just like the fish they were tasteless and cold. This should have been something very easy to prepare. Also, the tartar sauce didn't taste not freshly made. It was the sort you pull off of a shelf in a grocery store shelf, something I never buy. One place that comes to mind that does this right is the Gage restaurant on Michigan Avenue across from Millenium Park. I ended my meal with some in house made tiramisu which was okay. Will I come back? At this very moment I can't honestly say, because as they say, first impressions are the most lasting. read more

Yesterday I went to dinner with my gf. We went to check out Bartolini's in Midlo. The food was out of this world! We had a appetizer platter with meatballs, cheese sticks, onion rings and chicken tenders. The platter was huge, lots of sauces and dips too. All the food was fresh and hot. So good! We both got paninis and they were also huge and so delish! The service was impressive too. Our waitress came over many times to check on us and was very helpful. I have been to bartolini several times but this recent time I was not impressed with the food. The pizza seemed to be very dry and the Caesar salad seemed like it was very wilted! Just a fantastic place to stop about one mile away from 294/57. Food is great...beer nuggets, meatball appetizer, pizza, pasta, paninis have all been family favorites. Service is great, well attended and the owner is always around chatting tables up. They have a great meatball sandwich. I love meatball sandwiches. I still live close to Ogden Avenue in grand Avenue It was all Italians around there. They made a great beef in that area too. They give you a choice of fries, potato chips, or coleslaw fries aren't that good the coleslaw was really good when my daughter gets back from New York. It's been at least ten years since I've been to Bardolinos; they have since moved to a newly renovated location nearby. I ordered a Dewars White Label Scotch on the rocks with a lemon twist with just a little ice; the waitress returned in a few minutes with a glass overflowing with ice cubes spilling over the side. My sister ordered a Diet Coke; after a few minutes, I asked her if she would drink her drink, but she said it had an odd taste, so I tried it. It was way too sweet with a "metallic" taste. We waited a few minutes to order an appetizer. We chose the mini meatballs., I can't believe how many meatballs are in order; I'd say at least close to twenty with delicious marinara sauce and a good amount of Mozzarella on top (we both took home four home each}. I ordered the Meat Lasagna, which was huge. It was good except for the Marinara Sauce, which was too thick and pasty, with too much tomato paste, and nowhere near as good as the sauce with the Meatball Appetizer, which was right on the money. My sister ordered the Chicken Bruschetta, a chicken breast bruschetta on top, mashed potatoes, and a seasonal vegetable. My sister didn't care for it all; it was bland, and the potatoes looked like they came out of a box, not fluffy. We passed on the coffee and dessert. If I did go back, I would stick with the pizzas and Italian sandwiches. read more
