Hands down the best mocha you can get. An absolute must try is the Mexican Latte! I have yet to perfect the recipe on my own or in any other coffee shop. They also carry a nice variety of baked goods. That being said - Northside is a just a cool place to hang out and this small coffee house has the perfect urban vibe - whether you're killing time on a Saturday morning or needing a mid day break from work. read more

The Sidewinder staff is 5-star all the way, super awesome. Sidewinder has excellent coffee, tea, and food. I prefer coffee shops that have more than just pastries and Sidewinders selection of food is both healthy and delicious! The ambiance is great, they have a great back patio, and it's a great place to get work done. EXCEPT... The internet goes on and off about 50/50. The problem has been known about for a at least a couple months but no fix has been done??? As much as people come to a coffee shop for the food, drinks, and social, many like me also come to get a few hours work done while eating breakfast or lunch. Sitting in the back room with 5 people on laptops asking each other if the internet is working or if it's just their computer is just not cool. Came on a late Saturday afternoon around 5 to do some reading so I'm sure I missed the normally large crowd. Staff was nice and suggested a drink for me, which I ended up getting the Hazel's Nuts. Mostly a lot of alcohol rather than Chai, but I have no issue with that. Did I mention they have happy hour specials?! Seating area was cute and quirky but also scarily silent. I wish they would have had a little music to make the space more comfy. I felt bad for answering a phone call because I didn't want to interrupt anyone. Pros: Excellent specialty drinks, particularly the iced espresso offerings. The service is good, although the person who runs the daytime shift is always cranky. If Sidewinder was carryout-only, this would be a 4 or 5 star review. Unfortunately, Sidewinder's dining room is in really bad shape. The tables are uneven, so working on a laptop requires you to level your computer with napkins, paper, or whatever else you might have handy. During the colder months, the thermostat is set to 60-65 degrees, so bring a sweatshirt or be prepared to wear a jacket. The rabbit outside is a nice touch, but they're feeding it a really unhealthy diet. Carrots should only be given sparingly as a treat and iceberg lettuce makes rabbits sick. Look it up, guys. I hate giving local businesses negative reviews, but the dining room problems are easy fixes that should have been addressed long ago. These types of tables cost almost nothing and turning up the furnace by 7 degrees isn't going to put you out of business. And take better care of the rabbit. read more

Review just for a quick to-go beverage purchase. Hip local coffee shop in Northside that allows pups in the front room which is nice. Ordered a flavored iced-tea and was happy to see on the "fixins" counter that Agave was available as a sweetener in addition to honey and your std sugars. Place seemed like it gets a lot of traffic from locals. And has additional seating (much bigger) in the back. Would go back if I were to ever go back to northside. Have loved this place in the past but was treated very rudely today. After buying $17 worth of food and drink and tipping, the barista decided to shame me for having a thermos from a different coffee shop. It was just me and my sister in the room and my sister had her drink-obviously the drink was mine. Still the barista chose to announce my drink as the latte for "someone with a (other shops name) mug" at first I chuckled so the barista continued, "yeah that's a real nice mug there. That's really nice". I don't think it's right to shame me for being concerned about my environmental impact. I'm not buying a mug from every coffee shop I go to and I'm definitely not sporting Sidewinder gear after that experience. Wasn't the first time a barista has been rude to me there. Some have been awesome which is why this is not a lower starred rating but some have killed it for me and definitely reduced my rating here. read more

I'm not a regular, but when I have a reason to be in Northside I always make time to stop here. Now I've noticed a few negative reviews. One person said the staff doesn't smile at babies. Maybe they just don't want a grubby fingered little noise bomb disrupting the the rest of the customers. I also noticed a comment about hygiene, but I will avoid getting into it because I find it out of bounds to insult people simply because they don't smile at your baby. Now onto what's important, the drinks. They are good. The baked stuff is good as well. The atmosphere is good. I find it a relaxing place to enjoy my coffee. The menu has all the straight-foward drinks you need as well as some fun specials. The staff is chill and laid-back. The decor is nice with wood floors, velvet-cushioned benches, exposed brick walls, and very cool artwork that changes. There are a few sunny window tables in the front, and a quieter area in the back. Beyond that, there's a patio and a bunny called Patrick Swayze. Don't trust my judgment because I've only been here once, but it seems just alright to me. I'm really big on atmosphere, and I feel like this place gives neither a study-friendly nor chit-chatty vibe, so I'm not sure where it falls. Regardless, I got their iced chai latte and it was alright. Not too spicy, and equally just as important, not as milky either. But it would have been nice to have some more ice. I've gone to Sidewinder ever since it opened in Northside, which has been years. I really want to be able to give it a five, and I probably should give them a 1. Over the last year plus, they've really disappointed me. The quality of the coffee has diminished significantly. Some of the staff seem like its a hassle to get my order and some are just inept. There are some staff that are great, but the inconsistency is frustrating. There are times when I have gone to across town to another small coffee house on the east side, even though it was out of the way, just because I knew there is better coffee, food and customer service. Come on Sidewinder, make me want to give you more stars. read more

Fantastic coffee shop. Great coffee, drinks, food, prices, and a very friendly and accomidating staff. However- the back door opens the wrong way. To go to the patio to have my cigarette that's necessary with coffee, I have have to pull the door in rather than push it out. This is backwards and unacceptable. I am normally a door master. Never pushing when I should pull or vice versa. Seriously I have like a 75% first attempt success ratio. But the friendly warm atmosphere here throws me off and I end up messing up the entire door affair. I will not be made to look like a fool. So even though this is a fantastic shop, I cannot allow myself to return. Also I think I must have pet Patrick Swayze (the house rabbit) too hard once. The service and coffee is terrible and the staff is lacking social skills. I ordered 4 iced drinks, a latte, a caramel latte, a cafe mocha and a vanilla frappuccino. The girl poured four cups of vitamin D milk and then quickly dumped espresso shots in. She then poured in cheap syrup flavoring that you can buy at Walmart. At $4/drink I expected frothed milk and a little pride of ownership! We won't be going back. read more

Disappointed every time. Good coffee, but everything else is overpriced and underprepared. Three times I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and every time there was about a spoonful of chicken salad and lots of spinach, cucumber, and not much else. How can they possibly put so little chicken salad on a sandwich? Every time I order a breakfast burrito they over microwave it so that it's rubbery and way too hot to eat. I end up throwing out the tostada part. I love scones but there's are so dry they are inedible. The staff are all unique and pleasant, the drinks I've tried were all amazing, and they have a bunny in the back!!! The front of the shop is small but if you walk past the counters to the back they have a lot of sitting place which is perfect for getting work done. I'd like to mimic what others have already wrote... the coffee is superb, the service could be improved. I had an iced mexican latte, which was incredible. I don't typically enjoy chocolate in my coffee (not a mocha person) but when you pair it with cinnamon and cayenne pepper, I couldn't get enough. I will definitely be back to try something else. Delicious latte aside, I felt very unwelcome here. The barista was surly and made it clear that she wanted nothing more than to not make my drink. I wasn't a regular I guess. I love this place! I'm from New Jersey but my family is out in Cincinnati. This place is right by my uncles house where we stay sometimes and I love getting my caffeine fix here. They have soy milk for me (vegan) and made my Mexican latte with it, absolutely delicious!! The girls working were super sweet. A tad pricey but all independent coffee shops are. (Pay for perfection). I don't remember but the price but I also brought my own mug. Will always return for that Mexican latte! read more

Cup of drip-coffee with a shot of espresso in hand, I was able to cozy up in the beautiful urban setting of the back courtyard. The coffee itself was fenomenal as a passerby customer had so generously recommended me and the staff was strikingly friendly. Sidewinder Coffee keeps its courtyard green with plant life and welcoming with a pet rabbit to make it feel like home. I will most definitely be venturing back to this gem very soon. read more

Loved this spot in Northside. The menu of drink choices is huge, from coffee, to teas, even alcohol is available. They have all the usuals (cap, latte, etc). And some specialty drinks. I very much enjoyed the Chai Mocha. The pastry choices looked appetizing too. We had lunch there...a cucumber, cream cheese sandwich with salami and a huge bunch of grapes. At 7 bucks it was a great value...nice and light and tasty. There's a few seats up front, and a nice comfy room in the back decorated with vintage furniture. I liked the atmosphere...laid back and comfortable...some coffee spots try just a bit too hard to be funky but luckily Sidewinder didn't fall into the trap. There's a huge community bulletin board which I enjoyed since we were exploring Northside for the first time. read more

However, the most notable thing about this restaurant - and the reason my husband took me here when I was having a bad day - is the rabbit.
