My best friend and I wanted to celebrate turning 50 years old this year in Paso Robles. We knew we wanted to do a wine tour, I mean...Paso Robles, you gotta! When I was researching the different ways to get around safely while sampling what PR has to offer, I saw there was an amazing Groupon offer for a 2.5 hour wine tour through Sidecar Tours. I looked at the website for the company and the images and thought, "This looks freaking fun!" Sidecar did NOT disappoint. Doing this wine tour was the number one adventure we had this weekend. From the time we introduced ourselves to Brad at the front of Bianchi Winery, we knew we were in good hands. He made sure my friend and I had a spot right next to the pond and we were very much taken care of by his wife, Wilder. After tasting, we got into the Sidecar and he ensured that we had a safe but extremely exhilarating ride to our next winery, Sculpterra. So freeing to feel the wind on your face as you experience the PR environment. Brad was a wealth of information about the two wineries, plus some of the surrounding ones as well. Brad was accommodating and very helpful as we ventured through the whole experience and took a few cute pictures of us as well. He also allowed us a taste of one of the grapes on the vine, which was a nice added touch. We had such an awesome time thanks to Brad. Such a fun adventure and a unique way to try a handful of amazing wineries! Our driver, Stephanie, was experienced, kind, fun and patient. Our ride was smooth, safe and definitely something we would do again. I cannot even begin to explain how much fun we had doing the side car tours. Open air, Springtime in Paso Robles and wine...what's not to enjoy!?! There were 3 of us gals in the tour, so two motorcycles showed up. We had plenty of space in the side cars and made use of the basket in the rear of the car too. Our drivers showed up wearing matching outfits, dressed professionally yet in theme with the motorcycles, they were both super rad guys, Jeff & Joe. They made out day fun and they cheered us on when we were being silly. The cost of the tour is totally reasonable given that you have 3 wineries to visit and the tastings are paid for plus a DD and your own private paparazzi. The only downside to the whole day is that 3 hours is not nearly enough time to get to 3 wineries and drive the distance between them without feeling rushed. We brought our snack lunch with us and ate it at the second winery which made us really rushed for the 3rd stop. I would have liked the tour to be 4 hours rather than 3 but other than that, I have NO complaints. The bikes and sidecars were beautifully restored and/or replicas and they provided comfy helmets and goggles for the day that were clean and sanitary. I cannot wait to do this tour again with my best friend in the Fall, I simply cannot describe how free and fun it felt to whisk through the open air through wine country in a new and fabulous way. You will not regret signing up for this tour. One last thing, the driver text me the night before our tour so I felt very at ease about what to expect, he answered all my questions and was very communicative and on time. He was so knowledgeable & enthusiasti. honestly he went Above & Beyond despite one of the wineries being closed. My friend and I still had a very memorable experience. the staff at the 2 wineries were also spectacula. I will do this again. also, heed the instruction to bring a good jacket or wind breaker especially if you booked a morning tour. worse thing that can happen is you don't need it and you leave it in the Sidecar while you do your tastings. bianchi has some jackets you can buy too. What is more exciting and unique than touring the central coast's wine country in a motorcycle side car!?! My experience was fun, memorable and I was in great hands! My professional drive, Shepherd, was courteous and helped make my wine touring experience incredible. They provide helmets and goggles and the seats are comfortable! I personally enjoyed riding in the back seat with the arm rest. It was the perfect way to take in the beauty of the nicely manicured landscape of the vineyards, catch a glimpse of some wild life and enjoy the fresh breeze on my face! After arriving to the first winery, Shepherd helped me exit the sidecar and retrieved my bag from the motorcycle basket off the back. I enjoyed my afternoon, wine tasting and relaxing.
