Sidebar is super cute and we had a great experience when we were there. They have an excellent happy hour from 2-6 pm: $5 apps and drink specials that go with the time ($2 beer/wine at 2 pm, $3 beer/wine at 3 pm, etc). We arrived before 2, unaware of the happy hour, and they definitely started getting crowded at 2. I tried the gavel cocktail which was so refreshing and my boyfriend ordered the litigation. His was perfect for the cold weather outside. The food was also delicious. We started with cheese and crackers which was a cheddar ball with bread on the side. I got the fish sandwich to eat which fell apart on me, but the taste was great. The others in my group ordered the Reuben and salad and enjoyed theirs too. Food and Drinks (4/5): The Cali Chicken Sandwich was very good and extremely filling. It had the perfect amount of guac to not feel overwhelming and had more than a single bacon strip! I'd definitely get it again. The SB Tacos were a bit normal, but still very good. I got the Jury drink ($13). It was good, just a bit heavy on the Hennessy and toasted almond. Ambiance (4/5): The place felt like it was taken to with a sledgehammer and them spackled back together. It seemed pretty run down, especially the room to the right of the bar where we were. It was old yet trying to be modern. It was an odd combo, but it worked for the place. Service (3/5): Great host and ok waiter. Our waiter seemed to keep forgetting about us. I went there with my sister after work. We sat outside on the patio. Sadly the food was very bland. My deviled egg had no seasoning or salt. Just felt like eating hard boiled egg with paprika on. My salad was ok. The fries was so soggy with oil. The waitress forgot about us. She was very short with us. And came to check once didn't even refill our water. I don't think she even fully stopped while she asked if everything was ok. We where the only people on the patio. I came here for brunch this past Saturday. We arrived around 10:30 and were immediately sat outside for two. We ordered the BYO mimosa, which was a bottle of champagne with three juices to mix yourself. We got pineapple and grapefruit juice. Very good option and perfect for two. I also ordered an ice coffee which the bartender brought out with a side cream and simple syrup because he suggested that simple syrup was better for cold brew coffee than sugar; which I really appreciated because i hadn't known that! For entrees, I ordered the eggs Benedict with Virginia ham, and my boyfriend got the omelet with spinach, mushrooms, and bacon. Each came with home fries and the Benedict also came with fruit. I hosted a birthday party for my husband at The Docket and it was absolutely fabulous. The events team is truly on top of everything; Stephanie coordinated and communicated everything we talked about with the staff working night of and it was a completely seamless evening. Anthony and Ethan ran the event so graciously and Ryan and Hunter behind the bar were wonderful!! Hunter even spent over an hour weeks prior crafting cocktails per my specifications. The interior and exterior of Side Bar are beyond warm, inviting, and charming! Great Instagram photo spot! We went around 3pm after the brunch rush and before dinner. it wasn't busy or too crowded. The service was extremely slow from cleaning the tables, being seated, orders taken, check brought out etc. Our waiter walked past several times without checking on us and never refilled our water. When we received our checks we were charged extra for condiments, which wasn't stated on the menu or by the waiter. Overall the food was delicious. Sidebar has the exact opposite problem that Goosecup down the street has. It's highly priced, but worth it. It also attracts a good amount of day trippers so it's likely packed on the weekend and well-attended on the weekdays. It's an old school first come first serve with a waitlist. Three tips - I know Nightshift is not "officially" Sidebar, but have two drinks there. It's expensive, but they'll make a drink really based off your likes. Literally. They'll ask you what flavors you like and in 10 minutes you'll have something the resembles those flavors. Keep an eye out for their holiday meal kits if they do them. We've done Easter twice - stuff is awesome. Instead of spending that $300 at Wegmans for food, we just order mains/sides/dessert from them! Prioritize Brunch over other meals. Excellent breakfast menu items and a full bar for mimosas. read more

Who would have assumed that a breakfast salad is exactly what I was missing in my life? We were in town for a wedding and stopped here for breakfast before the festivities started. I wanted something light and healthy as weddings are typically pretty heavy. This salad was perfect from the egg to the nuts, even the dressing was fantastic. I can only confidently give this place a review based off the drinks and the service- would still love to come here this summer for some food out on the patio. We came for a whole bunch of drinks and I will say, they all were decent but there was more ice than drink. Unless you get something like a martini, the bar appears to be putting in so much ice to avoid filling your drink too much. The kicker too is they don't give straws for these big icy drinks so you can't really taste your drink without getting smashed by ice in the face with each sip. My absolute favorite was the super addicting cauliflower. It blew my mind. It was so unique and such a treat. All of our apps were $5. Three and a half stars - visited both the coffee shop and the restaurant on a rainy mid-week day. We chose the restaurant to visit because of the well done menu that had clearly listed the gluten free selections that they had. When we went, it was after the lunch rush, and yet we still had the sense that we were bothering or rushing our server. After placing our drink orders (and being given water that we hadn't ask for, but this is a minor annoyance/probably just restaurant policy), we were never once asked if we wanted refills (and frankly, the water was never refilled either). I gave the waitress specifics on my allergies and she was able to confirm that they have a dedicated gluten free fryer (which is pretty amazing and great news). Though she also took care to note that there was mayo in something when I asked if was dairy free, and I had to ask her to talk to the kitchen to see if they (for some reason) added dairy to their mayo (that would have been a first. I ordered the deviled eggs and a side of the sweet potato fries. Hubby ordered the southwest salad. The fries were ok, they come with ketchup, they were fairly well done. No salt to speak of, but they brought some out when I asked. No plain mustard, no Dijon mustard, only honey mustard (not my kind of mustard). The deviled eggs were also just ok (as described here by several others before me). Mostly just taste of the scallions and the salt that I added. Hubby's salad was, as our 20-something daughter would say, 'mid'... so to better describe it, it was Trader Joe's southwest salad with perhaps marginally better lettuce and crisper tortilla strips. It's an open seating bar type area where we were, although there appears to be other rooms for service. We were unfortunately seated by a door that kept being opened and closed so it was quite drafty. It was ok, overpriced for what it was, but if we were close I would probably go back simply for the gluten free fryer. I fortunately didn't get sick, so they must take those protocols seriously. read more

[12:39PM EST] In attempt to get fresh air, I was walking around downtown Leesburg today and came across this hole in the wall. SideBar is a restaurant but it also has a walk-up window for their cafe. I asked if they had seasonal flavors other than items on their display board and they kindly offered to make a cinnamon-honey latte for me. I ended up going with a maple latte! It was lukewarm when I got it and quickly got cold given the chilly weather. The maple flavor wasn't prominent but the latte was carefully crafted and milky, with a hint of espresso. Overall, I would come back and get a classic latte or give the peppermint mocha a try! read more

The person bringing our food checked and said our app went to another table. Honestly I think they totally forgot to place the order. The burger was dry and well done. The best part of the meal was the fries. Our server never checked on us or refilled our water or drinks. She gave us our check and we waited 10 minutes but never saw our server again.
