I wanted to find an artist who I felt confident with giving my guy his first tattoo. Born in Bhutan, he wanted an armband that reflected his heritage. I spoke to the artist's wife on the phone. She was so lovely and friendly, I became even more confident in selecting KeAloha Designs. She explained that Andrew preferred to have direct email contact with the person who was going to be tattooed. Again, my confidence level rose. I was so disappointed when my guy told me that Andrew only wanted to do the large tribal designs. I so wish I had been made aware of this earlier.

The long review: Roshelle is reachable by Instagram only, where you can request an appointment for a date. I messaged her a few weeks ago requesting for an appointment a month in advance, but let her know my timing was generally flexible. She was very patient with me, as I was getting my first tattoo with her (but I'm hoping to get more in the future!). On the business side, she is very organized and provided a list of things she needed to know before accepting my appointment and designs. Then, after seeing the designs, she asked if she could take the inspiration--the outline of my cats' faces and make them into flowers--and make it fit more of her style of tattooing and an overall more cohesive design for a tattoo. I was absolutely floored when she showed me what she created! I immediately accepted the design and we got to scheduling. When a date and time was set, I paid my deposit. At the appointment, she was very welcoming. We chatted a little bit before getting down to business. The tattooing itself ended up only taking an hour; she was quick, but mindful, so I attribute it to her experience and confidence as an artist. Despite any intimidation I felt in getting my first tattoo, her laid-back aura and overall ease in approaching the tattoo helped me just relax and think, "This is a completely normal thing that people do, it's not such a big deal," and I made it through the appointment with no issues. I am so happy I found Roshelle and got to work with her, and I can't wait to hopefully work with her again!

My husband got a crazy tattoo when he was just 14 or 15. As he grew older, he realized he couldn't stand looking at that tattoo anymore. Lol and he has nice arms but he'll always keep them covered because of that damn tat. So, he decided it was time to get a cover-up. When you get a bad tat you realize how important it is to choose the right artist for the job. A good artist can turn a mistake into something beautiful. I started looking for tattoo shops for his cover-up While researching, I found Elk Grove Tattoos. Edger, the artist there, really impressed me right away with his work, I can admit lol I stalked his page for about a week watching all his dope work. I finally reached out to him and explained my husband janky tat. Edger mentioned he liked our last name so he threw some ideas out about peacocks. What he didn't know was ... he already gained my trust because I've seen his work so I set the date and he did his thang. The tattoo came out amazing it had a lot of detail my husband absolutely loves it, and the best part is that you would never guess it was a cover-up. Not every tattoo artist is comfortable doing cover-ups or working over someone else's designs, but Edger handled it perfectly, and I'm really glad I chose him for this project. Now that I've shared the backstory about the tattoo, I want to talk about something else that is very important to me--which is cleanliness of the shop. I use to be a first responder so this is deff a stickler for me, their space is very clean and well-organized, which makes me feel comfortable right away. The vibe of the shop is very family-oriented, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. The artists act professionally, and their positive energy creates a great atmosphere. I also took some time to check out other artists in the shop work on IG because I follow their Instagram page, and I was very impressed by their work as well. Each artist has a unique style, and honestly, you can't go wrong with anyone you choose. I like that , that's important to Edger to not just have artists but to have great artist. They all have amazing skills and a passion for what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. I truly believe that you will be happy with any artist at this shop; it's a place where quality and care come together beautifully. Recently, my husband just doubled back to get a touch-up on a tattoo he got from a different artist. As always Edgar, did his thang. Once my husband removed the plastic and it properly heals, I'll share an updated picture. Everyone is so warm and fun. It makes the whole experience a lot smoother and more enjoyable. They worked with me to make sure I got what I wanted and were patient as I picked a size for my tattoo. There are a few comfortable chairs in the waiting area. The whole building isn't giant but it was very cozy and clean inside. There's cute pictures all over the walls of the team and other things.
