This shop takes advantage of people. Im writing this review again and choosing to upload pictures as well. The artist Maggie no longer works here and this will focus on Anthony Stewart the owner. Background Information: I went in asking for one artist and they recommended me another (ive worked in shops and this is common if the artist feels another artist would do better in the style requested) I was not show a portfolio and everything went by fast I gave my deposit and waited. (This was my mistake) I then sent them the image I composed of the tattoo i wanted as well as some references. Whilst waiting for the day to come I noticed that they never asked me to go into detail or explain what I wanted after. Day of the tattoo they showed me a completely different design and did not want to do aspects of the tattoo that I composed. Long story short I received a tattoo that honestly looks like it came out of a chop shop. My issues with the tattoo: Anatomy is completely incorrect and all over the place. The shading is honestly ridiculous. Line work is shakey and blown out in several areas. It looks horrible and anyone can see that. Ive been told SEVERAL times that its a shitty tattoo not once did anyone think it was a good tattoo. Its embarrassing. The owner: After all of that the owner lacks any semblance of accountability. I had messaged the owner (Anthony) to see if we could work something out to fix it. At first, he was very understanding and offered to fix it and agreed with most of my concerns he even had another artist look at it whom also saw the issues with it. EVentually 3 months later I come back in to see what we could do with it and schedule a date to fix it. When I came in this time EVERYTHING CHANGED Anthony was very hostile and essentially gaslit me by all of a sudden saying "it's a great tattoo I don't know why you'd want to fix it" and "everyone in the shop thinks it looks great". Anthony also stated that I missed my second appointment. There was NEVER a second appointment the artist Maggie explained it would take X hours to complete and once the appointment ended that was that so again lying to save themselves (which honestly if you think there was a second appointment I "missed" thats ommision that you agree it looks incomplete or jacked). When discussing how to fix it, I again came up with an image where it kind of showed the direction I wanted to go to fix it but basically it got shot down (this is the second time i got shot down) . He said I'd have to just trust him and refused to draw a idea (he was gonna just freehand it). Even after all of that he asked for a 100$ deposit and stated that it will be 200$ an hour to fix. In no way was I told in the beginning l'd have to pay to fix the tattoo. In Conclusion: I never got it fixed, I wasted my time, and no amount was offered for compensation. This shop doesn't keep their word, is unreliable, and also, they do not care about the client. I was never rude when discussing the issue, I had. I was very polite, and they honestly just took advantage of that. You have a responsibility as a shop on who you employ and yet refused to own up to the blaring issues that came out of your shop. read more

Hands down the best! We originally followed Kyle there, and once I was inside chatting with Ant, we realized we actually grew up together. Small world moment! My daughter and I have gotten so many "Get What You Get" tattoos there, and it's become such a fun tradition for us. Every visit is a blast. Hubby has been getting his Disney sleeve slowly completed by Matt. I came with him for his first appointment and was impressed with the business itself. Anchor is super clean and very relaxed. I appreciated the comfy couch in the waiting area. The place is full of Disney memorabilia and there are a lot of old school arcade games. I appreciate that they have the theme continued throughout of "anchor" with fish and other stuff. It is super consistent. Everyone there was super funny and very friendly as well. I also appreciated all of the TV's, it kept me entertained during the 4 hours we were there. They were playing various Halloween movies. Matt did an AMAZING job on my hubbies tattoo, its still a work in progress but I am SO impressed with his level fo detail. Like I cant even explain how amazing he is. Outstanding tattoo experience from beginning to end. Wanted to cover up a boring old tattoo with something better dedicated to wife. After calling a few places in town - Anchor was BY FAR the most responsive and awesome. They responded quickly to an IG message and hooked me up with an artist. Lucas then reached out to me via text and we got all lined up easily for appointment. I've come here twice, once working with Octavio and another time working with Maggie. I wanted an anime tattoo and Octavio was excited to do it, the environment is friendly and the waiting room is fun if they run long with another person, we got to play on the arcade games they had. I am more than pleased with the outcome and he paid attention to the detail, he even went around showing the other artists my tattoo. I get so many compliments. This is the second time I am writing a review since my first review was obviously deleted. Ant or Anthony Stewart was who I had my tattoo appointment with. Not only was the communication nonexistent he was not prepared at all when I showed up for my tattoo appointment. He had nothing drawn up even though he had gotten a $100 deposit from me, and took about an hour to basically rip my tattoo design straight off of Pinterest. He also drew straight onto a stencil so when I had wanted to make obvious changes to the design, he made lots of excuses and eventually bullied me and manipulated me by putting the stencil on me so that I could think about it more and then told me that I worry too much and that I needed to just trust him. He made me extremely uncomfortable and talked misogynistic topics and eluded my question about rates until I was halfway through my tattoo. All in all an absolute terrible experience and I would not recommend getting tattooed by Anthony Stewart and I am now looking into tattoo removal. read more

I can't tell ya'll how much I love them and their work! Each artist is legit in their own right! I've had 2 tattoos now done with Matt and they are stunning. This shop has so much heart. They shared a very difficult time with my family and made it beautiful. My niece Erza passed away suddenly and because of their love for my brother, his fiancé and their children they have had their backs since day 1. They all loved her like their own and even painted the front window of the shop with her image. We had a celebration of life for her on her birthday a few days ago this was our first birthday without her and they held space for us and helped us honor her with tattooing folx and a sweet ballon release. It's too bad the piercer reviews are dragging this place down. I'm sure Christian is a nice guy, but his piercings have a few problems. They go in at a SEVERE angle, not straight through. (This leads to poor healing.) They are crooked and off-center. (Visually unattractive.) His piercings HURT more than other piercers.' I've posted a photo of one of them. This piercer needs training, and I fully agree with all the the first reviewer said about the "vibe;" I was so distracted I realized later that he never even rang up the sale, just took the cash with no receipt. Try Industrial Tattoo in Berkeley, they were amazing and fixed my daughter's ear piercings. She's young and this was pretty tough on her, said the woman at Industrial's barely hurt and they are gorgeously done. And yes, an earlobe is pretty straightforward as far as piercings go. You can't do it straight? Sigh. I usually don't ever leave a negative comment because it's so unpleasant but ... I wish I had seen the other comments and I hope this helps someone avoid a hard situation. Why oh why did I miss the one reviewer's comment? "Let's get a tattoo today!" My bf exclaimed! Knowing that I've been wanting to get one for a while now, my reply? "Really, now, today?" And before I could think twice, we were on a mission! It was a lazy Saturday morning, and we were in no hurry... So after a couple calls and look ups on YELP... We found ourselves here. Walked in & was greeted by Jeremy. Very friendly and professional. The shop was good size. Three artists were working on different clients. Plenty of artwork and mirrors hung on the walls. This wasn't my bf's first tattoo... But it was mine! I was nervous! Not knowing what to expect was the worst part! I wanted something small, but meaningful. I decided on the Konji symbol for "love." After the inside of my right ankle was prepped, Jeremy took his time to place the computer generated symbol exactly where I wanted it. "Okay, you ready?" He asked before he started. Holding my hand, my bf was very supportive. Once he started.... I thought, "huh, is that it?" Ok, I measure my pain on a scale of 0-10... (Yes, I'm a nurse!) This was an average of 2-3 most of the time. At times, it was about 4-5. But it was very manageable. I figured it had to be. I mean, people keep coming back for more! After about 15 minutes he was done! My tattoo cherry was finally popped! My bf was next. He was doing a cover up on his left hand. He too, decided on a Konji, his was for "Tranquility." He has very large hands... He's a big guy! About the same size of the one on my ankle, he put on his hand. We were both very pleased. Jeremy gave us some "after care" instructions along with some ointment to apply. They only take cash. So be prepared for that. Minimum charge is $80. Tips are appreciated! It's true what they say, these things are addictive! My first one is just healed & I'm already planning my second one! read more

Kyle at Anchor has done a total of three tattoos for me and my wife. He is super humble, easy going and accepting of tweaks and corrections. Tattoo artists can sometimes be intimidating and not happy when you propose changes - Kyle goes with the flow and makes the whole experience comfortable and about what you want. I went to Kyle with a super important/emotional child memorial tattoo idea. He took my examples and my ideas and produced exactly what I wanted in a tattoo. Kyle's lines were clean and he definitely has the eye of an artist. It was the same experience for my wife. The new salon on Main St. is clean and has a relaxed atmosphere. Both times we were in there it was just us and Kyle. I put myself on the calendar for a full sleeve in a few months. Anchor wasn't my first choice.. in fact, one of the other parlors in town suggested I give these guys a visit. The shop is currently undergoing an upgrade to their digital footprint and I was truly going into my tattoo with blind faith. Holy shit did I luck out! All kidding aside, the work from this shop is truly top notch! I've been through quite a few tattoo parlors across the country and have seen some of the shittiest and some of the best looking shops. Anchor definitely nestles itself towards the top of that list. They've got a minimal amount of flash displayed on their walls, mostly all personal works. The shop boasts 8 tattoo stations with 4 artists... definitely enough room for one to move around! The best part of the shop is the dynamic of the artists and the interaction between them and the customers! I went in for a 7-hour tattoo broken into 2 sessions, but besides a few moments of silence, the shop was either filled with music, banter among patrons and artists and laughter. I think I'm forgetting something.... oh shit, the art work! As I've said, I went in blindly only to sit for 7 hours and ended up walking out with a bad ass piece of work to finish my sleeve.
