The artist Maggie no longer works here and this will focus on Anthony Stewart the owner. Background Information: I went in asking for one artist and they recommended me another (ive worked in shops and this is common if the artist feels another artist would do better in the style requested) I was not show a portfolio and everything went by fast I gave my deposit and waited. (This was my mistake) I then sent them the image I composed of the tattoo i wanted as well as some references. Whilst waiting for the day to come I noticed that they never asked me to go into detail or explain what I wanted after. Day of the tattoo they showed me a completely different design and did not want to do aspects of the tattoo that I composed. Long story short I received a tattoo that honestly looks like it came out of a chop shop. My issues with the tattoo: Anatomy is completely incorrect and all over the place. The shading is honestly ridiculous. Line work is shakey and blown out in several areas. It looks horrible and anyone can see that. Ive been told SEVERAL times that its a shitty tattoo not once did anyone think it was a good tattoo. Its embarrassing. The owner: After all of that the owner lacks any semblance of accountability. I had messaged the owner (Anthony) to see if we could work something out to fix it. At first, he was very understanding and offered to fix it and agreed with most of my concerns he even had another artist look at it whom also saw the issues with it. EVentually 3 months later I come back in to see what we could do with it and schedule a date to fix it. When I came in this time EVERYTHING CHANGED Anthony was very hostile and essentially gaslit me by all of a sudden saying "it's a great tattoo I don't know why you'd want to fix it" and "everyone in the shop thinks it looks great". Anthony also stated that I missed my second appointment. There was NEVER a second appointment the artist Maggie explained it would take X hours to complete and once the appointment ended that was that so again lying to save themselves (which honestly if you think there was a second appointment I "missed" thats ommision that you agree it looks incomplete or jacked). When discussing how to fix it, I again came up with an image where it kind of showed the direction I wanted to go to fix it but basically it got shot down (this is the second time i got shot down) . He said I'd have to just trust him and refused to draw a idea (he was gonna just freehand it). Even after all of that he asked for a 100$ deposit and stated that it will be 200$ an hour to fix. In no way was I told in the beginning l'd have to pay to fix the tattoo. In Conclusion: I never got it fixed, I wasted my time, and no amount was offered for compensation. This shop doesn't keep their word, is unreliable, and also, they do not care about the client. I was never rude when discussing the issue, I had. I was very polite, and they honestly just took advantage of that. You have a responsibility as a shop on who you employ and yet refused to own up to the blaring issues that came out of your shop.

disclaimer, this was some time ago and it feels like a safe enough amount of time has passed…read more i haven't had anything done by the tattoo artists here (or the piercer lol) but this 1 star review is for the piercer. i'm not sure of his name but my friend and i came to electric voodoo for some piercings. he opened the door and was watching a movie on his phone and asked "what do you want?" referring to what piercings we want to get. we told him, and he pointed to the door leading up the darkened stairwell to the second floor. this was in 2021ish and he wasn't wearing a mask and told us to take off our masks to feel "normal" for once, then he started talking so negatively about the covid vaccine. he finally got to sitting my friend down to pierce them and they were getting a lip piercing. he was complaining the whole time about the lip product she was wearing, that it was making the job slippery. he was making it such a huge deal, I could tell my friend was embarrassed. sure my friend could have just not worn lipstick but also he could have asked them to remove it beforehand in a polite way. he put my friend through a lot of pain and discomfort and made them feel bad for it lol. my friend has had piercings before so it's not like they weren't tolerant of that type of pain. during this piercing, he said the n-word (spoiler alert, he is not part of a demographic that can say that word) and when my friend and i looked at each other uncomfortably, he said, "what? this is california. we're all n-words." red flag after red flag, and the use of this slur was what did it for me. after my friend's piercing was finished, it was my turn. i said to him that i had changed my mind about getting my piercing, and he asked why i was chickening out. i just let him know i changed my mind and we left. if i could give the piercer zero stars, i would.
