It's extremely concerning that my previous review was removed, because people deserve to know the truth before trusting this artist with their skin. I went to Beavin for a Japanese sleeve, and he strongly claimed to have real knowledge and experience in Japanese tattooing. That turned out to be completely untrue. The work he did on me was inaccurate, sloppy, and nowhere near the standards of proper Japanese tattooing. Lines were uneven, design choices made no sense, and the overall composition showed zero understanding of the style he claimed to specialize in. Because of his mistakes, I had to spend thousands of dollars on a cover-up and corrective work from another artist--just to make the tattoo look presentable. This wasn't a small fix. This was major, expensive damage control. What bothers me most is that Beavin continues to misrepresent his abilities, exaggerating what he can do and misleading clients into thinking he has expertise he clearly does not. In my experience, he was dishonest, overconfident, and unwilling to acknowledge his limitations. No one should have to spend thousands fixing someone else's false claims. Beavin has been my artist for a little over two years now and I have worked with him across 5 different pieces and have always left satisfied. The vibes are great he's an extremely down-to-earth and patient guy and that translates into his work as well. His American Tradition work is truly amazing and his Japanese is beautiful as well. I've only gotten black and grey tattoos and Beavin's attention to detail and shading is always perfect. He is great with placement and sizing and I have always felt comfortable asking for suggestions with both as well as asking for replacements until I felt the piece and placement was perfect. Ultimately I'm always happy and excited to go in and get tattooed by Beavin, we have had many a conversation while I'm in the chair and he is kind and personable. I would even consider him to be a friend. He always takes care of me and takes into consideration every wish of a piece I want. I couldn't rave about Gene enough. I have gotten a bunch of tattoos by him and honestly he's the best in town. Super friendly, super clean lines, and will do just about anything you ask for. He's crazy talented. Iv come to him with specific pictures of things iv wanted and iv also had him come up with his own designs for me. I was originally referred to him by someone else and iv also referred a lot of my friends to him. So far iv followed him to 3 or 4 different shops because I love his work so much and have never been disappointed. He's easy to get ahold of, easy to follow on social media and definitely easy going. Best shop in town! Gene is an amazing artist. Most of my tattoos done by him are free hand and original (Drawn from scratch). I just tell him general ideas of what I'm looking to get, and bam! He draws up something better than what I could ever imagine. The shop is super clean and open late, it's best to make an appointment but walk ins are welcome there too! Easily one of my favorite tattoo shops I've been to. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with sick artwork from wall to wall. Ive got a bunch of tattoos done from Beavin and am always happy with the results. I get compliments on them all the time. He's a super chill dude and is well respected in the industry. Ask other local artists about him and chances are they'll tell you the same thing. Im itching to get another piece done soon. Ive been coming to this shop for around 6 years, dince the original owner Gene gave me a badass traditional dagger on my arm for a walk in. He then gave me bunch of other pieces. He also introduced me to Beavin who has done like 5 tats on me. The vibes here are super personal and friendly. I went in and worked with Rick to design my tattoo and placement. We placed it a few times and I wasn't happy where it sat and Rick was patient and let me move it as many times as I needed to feel comfortable. I have followed him around from Fairfield, Pittsburgh, Folsom, and finally back to Fairfield. He has drawn directly on my skin and inked = a real artist!
