    Strawberry fields

Stopped in to kill time/ pregame before headed to a house party. The bar had only a few people sitting at it but from the singing and laughs behind the curtain I'm guessing everyone was in the karaoke section! Bartender was friendly and helped me pick the perfect drink. The strawberry fields was delicious and well balanced. They have good music playing too. I plan to come back to do karaoke!

Folks clustered around the Piano man (Ben) with the next singer on the stage.

What a fun night! Went straight to the back where a great karaoke night was happening. Strong drinks and fast service is what I had. Next time I'm in the city, I will be coming back here!

Extremely talented folks in there. I came on a Disney musical night, and everyone, including the patrons were singing and dancing to the same tunes. It felt like I walked into a hang out spot of theatre folks. I came here for the gold drink, but it had no gold on it. I asked if they got my order wrong, and was shown a gold spray bottle that apparently doesn't put out much gold. Either way, I wouldn't come here for that drink, as seen from the beautiful pictures with gold in the drink. It's a two drink minimum, and I don't think it's worth a return.

This is my favorite piano bar in the city (sorry Marie's!). Really have to be a good singer to hold your own at this place.

I liked it. Nice room. Hit it before a show at the Garden. Better more mellow choice than the crowded pub places around . Classic.

Ask the Community - Sid Gold's Request Room

    Can we bring outside food?

I am a serious, experienced pop/jazz singer. Is this an open mic? If so how many songs can one sing? Thank you. Lou

We have pianists with extensive song lists and anyone is welcome to sing. You can sing as many songs as you like over the course of the night (as long as you are considerate to the pianist and give them a decent tip per song).

My sister is 19. Do they card at the door?

I'm sorry, our bar is 21 and over only.

It was my first time there but I was expecting the menu I saw online, not this new one. We tried 2 drinks: one inspired by Turkish figs and one inspired by lemons and the "Miracle Berry", which inverts your palate and turns sour into sweet! I really enjoyed both drinks. The figs one came with a sweet fig granola bite and the lemon one really did taste sweet after eating the "Miracle Berry"! I'd definitely come back to try their many other drinks.

I liked how they organized the menu by country/geography to facilitate an understanding of the flavor profiles. I got two of the date & fig-flavored smoked whisky drinks and it was a well made, balanced, and very good. Not cheap at some $25 or something, but middle of Manhattan with some creative ingredients means I guess it is what it is. Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

Patent Pending is has such cool speakeasy vibes, think dimmed lighting and candles at each table in a very intimate space. Our plan was to get wine and a cheese board however, the kitchen was closed due to a family emergency. We could only order chips or bar nuts with our drinks. Disappointing but what can you do? We ordered both the chips and bar nuts to go along with our drinks. And instead of wine, I opted for a cocktail! They have a pretty extensive cocktail menu with all these crazy concoctions. I went for the Strange Magic which was citrusy and refreshing. I'll definitely be back to visit again and hopefully next time will get the cheese board :)

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

The well-crafted cocktails present thoughtful riffs on the classics, inventive without being showy. While the dim lighting and intimate atmosphere practically beg for a secret rendezvous (there's an ostrich involved), I met up with a friend for the decidedly unscandalous purpose of doing our intention setting for the year over libations and nibbles. I opted for a pastel sour while my companion asked for a drink called The Last Word - it was no longer on the menu but they obligingly made it for us anyway. The menu consists of mostly small plates and is seafood forward, but we shared a petite dish of steak frites, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Our server was very sweet but service was slow on the night, and by the time we received our utensils the food was cold. However we were not rushed and were able to linger a bit to finish our conversation. For those who savor finely concocted cocktails paired with fresh raw bar offerings in a salon-like setting, this is the spot for you.
