My 12-year-old twin boys and I went here for a late lunch on a Thursday, after a long morning hike in the area. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so there wasn't much ambiance, but we didn't care. The food was quick and delicious. We had Thai spring rolls as an appetizer, which we would have eaten even more of they were so good. I didn't order a main entree as I knew my boys would probably have big meals they wouldn't eat all of so I just ate some of each of theirs. One of my boys had Pad Thai with beef and they made it spicy at his request, even though that dish isn't usually spicy. It definitely had some heat! My other son had a Mango Salmon dish, with a sauce to die for. Two of us also had mango juice as our drink and one of my sons asked for green tea, which he loves. We finished the meal with sweet rice with mango, which was the perfect end to the meal - and alleviated any left over heat we wanted to get rid of. The gentleman who waited on us was very sweet and accommodating. When my son asked what brand of green tea they used he gave him another bag of the tea to take home with him so he could reference the brand himself. Amazing Thai with unique takes on dishes. They were open Christmas Eve and Christmas and we rush we had come here sooner. The service was prompt, the restaurant quiet, and the whole restaurant is understated but warm and welcoming. We ordered soup, Pad Thai, and the Square Garden which we highly recommend. Our little one is sensitive to spice and everything was free of spice yet still flavorful. Siam Square is destination Thai in the heart of Great Barrington that should not be missed. read more

The safest thing on the menu in a Thai restaurant should be the Pad Thai. I have had it dozens of times in lots of places in multiple continents. This one was not like any Pad Thai I have ever had. It was not flavorful, had hardly any chicken, few spices, strange noodles and a sauce I could not identify. It is not a surprise that the restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night. I was skeptical trying this place since it always looks empty and unfortunately my experience proved me right. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, thinking it was a safe, classic choice--like ordering a hamburger at McDonald's. When the dish arrived, the waiter casually informed me that they were out of chicken and had substituted shrimp without asking. That alone was disappointing, but it wasn't even the worst part. The Pad Thai itself was terrible. It tasted like it had been made with ketchup, and it was honestly the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. I've eaten at many Thai restaurants, so I know what the dish is supposed to taste like. I left feeling very let down, especially because I love Asian cuisine and genuinely want to support local Asian restaurants. Sadly, this one is now crossed off my list. read more

We ordered through doordash but there was no drivers at great barrington to pickup our order so we had to call the restaurant so we can pick it up ourselves. We ordered the garlic shrimp, crispy chicken wings, and mango delight. Garlic shrimp had broccoli and other vegetable inside. I feel that the vegetables were taken over by the shrimp itself. The food was absolutely amazing. We started with steamed dumplings which were the best we've ever had in NY. I had a red curry dish and my husband had the " buddies" dish and they were both so delicious! The service was top-notch, friendly and very quick. Fantastic food. Friendly service. My wife and I have been there 5 or 6 times. The food has consistently been outstanding. They have a large menu and many choices. So, based on food and service they get 5 stars. However, of late they have been adding an extra charge if you pay by credit card. There have been several restaurants doing this lately and, frankly, I don't like the practice. They also do not advise you about the surcharge and you only become aware of it when the check arrives. I have a problem with being ambushed. But as I mentioned many places are doing this now. Certainly go for the outstanding food but be aware of the pending surcharge ambush. read more

Had a lovely meal here. I just love their tofu and peanut sauce- the house salad is something so simple that I love. I got the green vegetarian curry with tofu it was fabulous and the brown rice was awesome. My husband loved the chicken potstickers and the fried duck. It looked amazing. Unc was very kind and brought us an extra big spoon to get the pad see ew onto another plate. The ambiance was pretty good, I hear the soft murmur of nearby NPCs enjoying their meals. The Thai lady in the back took a picture of the ice Thai tea. Speaking of the ice Thai tea, it was quite sweet and had the taste of maple syrup mixed in. I'm not sure that's what it was, but it was delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, you would like it, but if you don't have a sweet tooth, you might not appreciate it as much. This is the worst food in Great Barrington. When it first opened 20 years ago, it was fabulous with authentic Thai food prepared and served by Thai people. A few years ago, the restaurant was bought, the food became worse and worse. When I spoke to the new owner I asked him why, what happened? He said he and his wife have owned many restaurants. And that "he was not depending on a constant local clientele, but on tourists who are only going to eat here once." It's really sad that this restaurant has become so run down, and offers nothing good. Came across this place about a year ago and drove by a couple of times when visiting in the area. Now we eat Thai pretty often and been to a lot of great places. Figured we give this place a shot. Heard that they changed owners and chef. So first the Thai ice tea was very tasty, however a bit on the sweet side. The fried tofu I thought was very good and if you like tofu I think this would be a nice little dish. The Thai dumplings were very good, moist and nicely flavored. The chicken Satay was tender and the peanut sauce was good. The Thai fried wings were great! They were nice and crunchy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. They were for sure really good. The curry I got was also very good very rich creamy flavor and great with rice. I thought they also made a very good drunken noodle. Good and amount of seasoning and spice. So had the Pad See Ew which is normally my favorite dish was not the best in my opinion. My wife however said that she really liked it. The sauce was not the normal sauce and did not have the thicker flat noodle. Now for the pineapple fried rice this I also thought to be delicious. Made with really good flavor and nicely cooked. The only other thing I thought all the main dishes all had a lot of carrots. I mean I guess that was ok but never had it in pad see ew. Also it had cabbage which I normally like however I thought it to be a bit weird in the pad see ew. Yes we always order a lot because I like to try it all. The staff was very friendly and had a nice conversation with the new owner which owns a couple other Thai restaurants. I hope this place will be a success for them. read more

This is such a gem of an establishment. Nowhere in the Berkshire's will treat you with such love and warmth as Siam Square. The food is absolutely bangin-their curries (any of them), pad Thai, drunken noodles, and basil fried rice are absolute staples in our household and among my friend group. The food was well-prepared and very tasty. The waitress and the other servers were very attentive and good. We had vegetable dumplings and chicken satay for appetizers. My wife had salmon mango, I had drunken noodles with chicken, one friend had pad thai and I have forgotton the other dish. There were four of us and we were able to have conversations that were not hampered by other tables' conversations or by music. We were allowed a leisurely dinner on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. A very nice experience. read more

In our opinion, the reviews here don't give this restaurant enough credit. We had a delicious meal. The restaurant is long and narrow with plenty of seating, all inside. The décor is what you'd expect at a thai restaurant. Everything was clean and comfortable. The only negative was the building air conditioning that was VERY loud when on - like fuselage of an airplane loud. When it wasn't running, the space got pretty humid and muggy. The server was super nice and attentive. We were there early so we got a lot of her time, which was fine. All the food came out nice and quick. Ok, the food. We had the Papaya Salad - which is one of our favorite items at Thai restaurants and Siam's version did not disappoint. Nice size service, crunchy papaya and carrot and the dressing was SPICY as requested, sweet and sour as expected with Thai flavors. Really great. The Thai dumplings were delicate and fresh. Steamed, cooked perfectly, and the water chestnut inside gave them a nice crunch. We really liked these. Chicken Satay was prepared well tasted great. Pineapple fried rice was super flavorful. We find this dish can be a throw away at places but not here. It was a big serving with Tofu added to make it an entrée and had great flavor. Drunken noodles were spicy and delicious. One of our favorite dishes normally and we enjoyed Siam's take on it. Finally, the Basil Chili Lover with chicken was excellent. The basil flavor really stood out here - almost smelled like a pesto dish! It was spicy, full of garlic, and plenty of basil leaves. Really great. Clearly the dishes are also curtailed towards their regulars which seems to be of a more homogenous variety ; and the type who can't handle spice. We had a variety of dishes, the beef salad which was a nice mix of greens and a good portion of beef which could be a main dish easily, the mixed sizzling platter which was just filled with seafood and chicken in a nice savory sauce, green curry with todo that had plenty of flavor and a noodle dish. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. Nice inside friendly staff. We ordered the Golden Triangles. They we fairly plain tasting with a nice dipping sauce. We got the hot pot of Thom Kha soup. Hot and delicious, we normal share a bowl at restaurants, I thought this would be bigger. It was probably had about 6 bowl fulls. We had some to take home. I had the Cashew Nut tofu. Lots of cashews and it tasted really good. My wife had the Pad Thai. She really didn't enjoy it. Asked for it with tofu. The tofu wasn't prepared very well. Over cooked and greasy. Outside of the additional spice added to bring them from mild to medium there wasn't much curry flavor. After a number of years of traveling in and around Great Barrington, we finally stopped in for dinner at Siam Square. We arrived early in the evening, so it was fairly quiet in the restaurant at that time. We ordered an appetizer and two main entrees, and the portions were a very good size. We both had some left overs for the next day! Our food tasted fresh and it was well made, seasoned, and cooked. We love flavorful and fresh Thai food! The "J" vegetarian spring rolls were especially good, and I loved how crispy the flaky wrappers were. The food did take a little longer than expected to come out (since we were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered), but when it did it was worth the wait. Towards the end of dinner, people started to trickle in and they also began handing out take away orders. It looked like the kitchen was able to keep up with both the incoming restaurant guests as well as with take away orders-always something to appreciate! Staff members were friendly and the menus and drinks were brought over promptly. The interior of the restaurant is fairly large and warmly lit. On the walls are various types of artwork or handiwork to liven the place up and to add a touch of Thai culture. All in all, we'd happily stop by again during a future visit! read more
