We couldn't find much information online for a menu so we went off of an old menu posted by another user. The rice and lo mein were very overcooked and had a very fishy flavor (even the white rice). However everything else was excellent. We ordered chicken egg too young. I'm not certain there was any chicken in it however this was the best egg too young I've ever had. I have lived in Lee my whole life and Red Apple never fails to be my favorite Chinese restaurant. The Chicken Lo Mein has always been a consistent comfort food throughout my whole life living here. Always the first choice when it came down to choosing where to get food with my friends. The nostalgia from the taste is imprinted in my tastebuds as like maybe a cheerio breakfast you would eat before school when you were younger. Now to think of it, in Elementary school years my Dad would always warm up some leftovers from Red Apple before school. Never was a cereal person. Red Apple always hit the spot more than any sugary cereal, in my opinion. Very hard working and progressive staff. Never have been even a minute behind the time they say it will be ready. Our experience at Red Apple was a little unfortunate. I want to support a family business but this just didn't meet even lowered expectations. This is truly a family owned restaurant with teen age kids taking orders and bagging while parents, grandparents and others cooking in the back. The price isn't bad. However there is really only one cook so when they are busy it can take a while. They quoted me 25 minutes and it was closer to 40. The biggest issue is that the food is largely cooked from package. I wanted frozen crab Rangoon go into the fryer and pre made chicken get cooked. Our pan fried dumplings were fine but itching special. Beef with broccoli was also fine simple. The wontons in the soup were also obviously prepared ahead. The beef chow wei fun was prepared dry and without sauce. We probably won't order here again although if we are looking for cheap staying with things that can't be pre-made would be the way to go. read more

This is our go to Chinese takeout place. No it's not superlative Chinese food, but for quick inexpensive takeout it's always been excellent. For those foolish reviewers who are dissing the kids, they are teenagers and they speak much better English than their parents. When I want something special I much rather explain it to them and this restaurant is happy to make it for me. It's clean but not pristine and the overwhelming smell is that of oil cooking in a wok. Exactly like that in any other takeout Chinese restaurant. I'm a long-term Berkshire resident and I've tried all of the inexpensive take-out Chinese food places. The family is incredibly nice and hard working and the young daughter who answers the phone speaks perfect english, making the order very easy and simple. She is a bright girl and a big help! We do not hesitate to recommend this place. I give it 4 stars as it is more of a take out restaurant though they do have a few tables you could sit and eat at. When I first moved to the Berkshires in the early 80's there was no Chinese restaurant close by. The crab rangoon are large and crispy. The sesame chicken and General Tso's are well-glazed, and the pork-fried rice is tender and full of flavor. The staff on the phone are efficient and clear. If we come up this way again, which is likely, we will definitely order from here again.
