We were going to the factory outlets in Lee, MA. I am not a fan of food courts, but were a bit short on time as well. As were driving through the main road, we saw this Burmese place right there. "Burmese, in this area?" I thought. It was really good. The owner of the place was very friendly. "How big is the Burmese population in this area?" I asked. He just smiled. "Must be razor thin" I thought to myself. That made me think even more favorably of the place. "I love Tom Yum soup, but being at a Burmese place, we want to have Burmese" I told him. He said there is a Burmese twist to the Thai dishes and did recommend it. There was that twist. We loved their tea leaf salad. My wife's Thai sounding Chicken Noodle dish had Cauliflower in it. Who would have guessed you can get unbelievably good Burmese food in the mountains of western Mass? The tea salad is the best I have had since leaving San Francisco (miss you Burma Superstar). Funky, garlicky goodness with lots of crunch. The Jet Noodle with Chicken - my kid devoured these noodles. If you love garlic this is heaven. Nice chewy noodles and tasty chicken. Big portions as well. Tom Yum Soup - tangy and sour the way that tom yum should be. Excellent soup base. Note if you order online, it doesn't allow you to select a protein so we got charged the full price without being to pick a meat. best to call in the order. Braised pork belly curry special - the meat was so tender and the curry was packed with flavor. So so good! The ambience is very casual. Walk in only. Kid friendly and can handle large groups. I came here with my folks and their friends the other weekend and had the best time. Burmese Bowl came highly recommended and they did not disappoint! This family-owned restaurant boasts plenty of seating, a cozy home-like atmosphere and incredible flavors. The portions were great and the service was absolutely wonderful. I've come to learn that they are a staple in the area and it's clear why. I ordered the pad thai and it was just scrumptious. I had a few bites of my dad's pho and it was equally as impressive. When I left the NYC metro area years ago, I never expected to find this level of Burmese food again. Some time in 2021 after hearing great things, we decided to try it for ourselves. The food is consistently delicious and extremely clean tasting. The herbs and spices are at once distinct while also adding to an incredible and appealing overall flavor profile. We don't eat meat or dairy so the owners and their team are great at making suggestions, helping us navigate the menu, and customizing dishes when they can. This is by far my favorite local place. We've come to think of the owners as friends and look forward to seeing them as much as we look forward to a great meal. Be sure to try the Burmese Tea Leaf salad! It's crunchy and savory and absolutely delectable! Add a Nigori Sake to your meal to wash it down with just a hint of dry sweetness. read more

When the temperature in my car indicated it was 108° outside, I knew we would not be camping that evening. So we pulled in to the Quality Inn which led to one of the best meals I have ever had in my life, at the adjacent Burmese Bowl. We had the Burmese wrap, the ginger salad, a rainbow roll, and a bowl of tomyum noodle soup. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor, and the servers were charming. They did not really have any draft beer, but we were able to get a couple cans of the local Big Elm ales which did the trick. I really do not believe the fact that we were not camping in this apocalyptic heat influenced my judgement ... it really was that good! read more

Stopped by here on a business trip. The place is hopping with diners and DoorDash and pick ups but the hostess sat me at the single person table out front despite they she has been running full speed. Had 1,000 layer bread-- it feels like English muffin and tastes like fried Parker House rolls-- you have to try them. My poke bowl has fresh veggies and a nice variety of flavors. This is a little gem in Lee. Seemingly authentic Burmese cuisine (I've never been to Myanmar so I can't vouch) with interesting flavors dominates one side of their menu. They have sushi on the other side, but we've not tried any during both of our visits in the last several months. Service is a little spotty. One in our party ordered a cup of hot tea and they brought us a tea leaf salad. Mind you, the salad was excellent, but we never got the drinking kind of tea. Hiccups like that aside, I'd recommend this spot. Excellent food and the price at $90 all in with gratuity for a party of three felt very reasonable. read more

Every place in the Berkshires requires reservations. But at Burmese Bowl, we just walked in and were treated kindly. Sitting on the deck in a warm summer evening is great. We had a pleasant meal before heading to Jacob's Pillow, which included a pad thai and some appetizers. Note that the pad thai was "American mild" (aka lacking flavor) and I needed to ask for some hot sauce make the dish enjoyable. Next time, I shall try and order with more authentic spice. Surprising to find this cute place for exotic food in New England. Ordered Burmese wraps, that have a sushi look but which were crunchy slices of lettuce curled around chicken, cucumber and other fresh veggies. Chicken satay was also hot with interesting side sauce. The Burmese bowl soup was a bit too fishy for me but others enjoyed. Might have to be more adventurous on a future visit! This cozy restaurant was highly recommended while we are in Lee and they were right! It's incredible that it just opened August 2022 and they've perfected their menu. It's located on the first floor of a beautiful Victorian home, with a large parking lot in the back and a wide ramp making it handicap accessible. The decor is simple and clean. The food is just delicious and nicely plated. As most people have stated there are many must tries! We loved the Burmese hot tea with milk. The pork dumplings were hot, fresh and crisp. The coconut chicken noodle bowl was so soothing and velvety. The chicken pad tai perfection. It's BYOB so go next door to the package store and the restaurant will supply you with the glassware! There was only one kind guy servicing all the tables. He was super efficient and friendly. They don't have a website, however they do have a Facebook page and an Instagram account where they post more info and photos. We will definitely go back to try the sushi and many other dishes. AMAZING food, wonderful staff and a great environment. We brought our dog here for dinner with six (seven with the pup) and it was a highlight meal in our summer. The food was incredible - there wasn't anything we didn't like! It was fresh, the flavors were wonderful and the menu had a wide variety of options (including many vegetarian/vegan friendly items) for all of us. Everyone working there was a delight - Christine is a GEM, and it was fabulous to meet the chef/owner who has brought this restaurant to life with his talented chef/wife and family. Highly recommend any of the following (top three were my favorite, but we genuinely liked everything): Potato Somosa Shrimp Tempura Poke Bowl Papaya Salad Spring Rolls Veggie Dumplings Pork Dumplings Burmese Tea Leaf Salad Coconut Chicken Noodles Pad Thai (Shrimp) Salmon Roll We brought our own wine for the evening per their current BYOB request, but it sounds like they are all set with their liquor license and will be serving alcohol in the very near future. We have done somewhat large take-out orders from Burmese Bowl on multiple occasions, and are generally quite satisifed with the quality of the food. Their online presence leaves something to be desired. Among other things, their posted hours were inconsistent. They are a pretty good value. One order of their maki rolls is 12-15 pieces, not the typical 6 pieces. However, each piece is cut smaller than on the typical roll, so I'd roughly esimate that one maki order at Burmese Bowl must represent around 75% more than the typical 6-piece roll. They put the rice on the outside of most rolls. The result, every time we've ordered, is that we end up with far more food than we expect. I would give it 4 stars if not for our previous experience. When we picked up the food they told us that they had thrown in some additional dishes for no charge. But when we sat down much later to check the bill, they had charged us for multiple items that we hadn't ordered, and the net result was a significantly higher bill than we should have gotten. This might have been an honest mistake. Either way, if we order from them again in the future it goes without saying (but I'll say anyway) that we'll be looking at the itemized bill closely before paying. read more

So it's been a while since my last review and I know that I'm overdue but in my defense, I've been working like an ancient corner-store Hebrew. Phew, my back hurts!! We decided to try out this new spot in downtown Lee that we passed several times while doing this thing called "Living". The reviews and photos that others have posted have been informative as well as enticing so my family decided to see what all the buzz is about. First off, it's really clean, and the smell is Ahh-mazing! They're out of a lot of stuff (sushi, basmati rice), that adjusted what my wife can get as she's Vegan. Of course, the deep fried chicken wings appealed to me and I also got the shrimp Lo Mein and my daughter got chicken Lo Mein and my wife got something called Miso soup... So overall, we weren't too thrilled with this place, it had a nice old style Chinese restaurant feel but they were out of a great deal of menu items and we weren't over the moon with the taste of everything. We'll give them another shot but they won't be our go to spot for Chinese or should I say, Asian cuisine. read more

I had given this place a five star review earlier. I've been several times and loved it. But went tonight. We had a 6 pm reservation which included my 90 year old parents who like to eat early. It took them 20 minutes just to take our order. It took at least half an hour for any food to come, then they completely forgot my husband's entree. I had to chase them down to get it and it took talking to several people and still took a while. No explanation about why my husband's meal didn't show up, no apology. At check out, no apology, nothing comped, nada. When I asked what happened they just said they were very busy (duh- it's 4th of July weekend in the Berkshires). The food was still good but so very disappointed in the atrocious service and even more so by the lack of acknowledgement that they had fallen short. Had a fantastic lunch here! The poke bowl was exceptional with fresh crab salad, an amazing seaweed, fantastic shrimp with a rich, spicy, flavorful seasoning. We also tried the pad thai which is among the best I've had. The fried calamari appetizer was perfection! A light breading, fried in clean, super hot oil and melt in your mouth tender. Visiting Lee on vacation and was curious to try a Burmese restaurant. We had a delicious Burmese noodle dish, and an old favorite, Vietnamese pho. (Chicken, in our case, in an excellent beef broth, with the usual fresh pho toppings.) There were also many options for sushi, which we didn't try, and Thai favorites like Pad Thai. The atmosphere was quite pleasant (playing Burmese harp music), and our server was very nice and making slight substitutions (wheat noodles for rice noodles, for example), was not treated at all as an imposition. Prices were very reasonable and portions were generous. The restaurant was pleasant inside with plenty of seating. Would definitely return! Very pleased! read more
