We drove around aimlessly trying to find Moonwink. A quick call revealed they sell now their food in a liquor store. We stopped and paid 29 and change for two moderately sized dishes. I tried to visit Moonwink last year when I was in Manchester on a ski trip, but I got there too late since they close at 5pm. When I was back this year I made sure that I got off the mountain in time to finally try Burmese food and I am so happy I did. Located in a converted house on Main Street in Manchester, Vt. you will find a casual funky restaurant serving superb food. The inside has an order counter in front of the kitchen and a dining area with eclectic decor and tables to eat at. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food out to you when it is ready, the food is served in disposable dishes and plastic cutlery is available. The menu is very concise, with appetizers, rice bowls, noodles and salads; there is a cooler with a selection of canned and bottled drinks. I wanted the Moh Hinga, fish stew and the owner was nice enough to make it for me even though it was not suppose to be available on Tuesdays. What I got was a good sized bowl of noodles in a rich spicy broth topped with yellow split pea fritters, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, cilantro. This was one of the best meals I have had in a while, hearty, spicy, crunchy and really satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Moonwink, the owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is fun, casual and serves great food. A really high recommendation especially if you want to try a different cuisine that is not widely available. I know if I am in the area again I will be back. read more

Excellent Burmese food. Very fresh, many healthy options. The owners are absolutely wonderful people. Vibe is trendy, upscale and somehow very casual at the same time. If you are there on Friday or Saturday, be sure to try the traditional fish stew. It is *not* like an American or European seafood chowder/soup. Fish taste is very mild. Stopped by for a late lunch after checking in Hildene. Between the chicken Burma bowl or the chicken coconut noodle soup definitely go with the latter. It's much more flavorful and satisfying. The chicken bowl is a too dry and needs more sauce to balance that out. I read the reviews and the bowl didn't live up to the expectations. We stopped in for lunch while visiting the area - our first choice wasn't open as published but a happy turn of events. Rather small inside just about 6 tables. But didn't feel crowded at all. We both had the Burma bowl with chicken and thought it was excellent - especially the cabbage "slaw" served with it. Prices are very reasonable. I'm not super familiar with Burmese food so cannot comment on its authenticity, but appreciated the flavors (many dishes have a spicy kick, just FYI). Don't miss this place if you're in town! This was on our list of "to do's" for a recent weekend getaway, but I didn't realize their operating hours were limited. We made a beeline for Moonwink on the Friday afternoon/night that we drove up to Manchester. I literally pulled into their driveway at 4:57P (they close at 5:00P) and held my breath as I walked in the door and asked if we were too late to order food. The owners, a lovely couple who I read about in a newspaper article, assured me I was ok to order food! We were elated! We ordered a few items off their menu and took some of their recommendations.
