Great food. Exceptional customer service. I asked if i could change the beef with broccolli lunch combo to beef with pepper and tomato and they obliged. They also subbed out the egg roll for a couple chicken fingers. They up-charged the modifications and i was happy to pay. Whenever im in the Falls I always hit up great wall. Food is absolutely delicious but be warned, i get the same thing everytime ... beef with tomato and pepper. It rivals big city americanized chinese food in taste and quality. Cash only! read more

Some of the worst takeout I have ever had. The Bean Curd Szechuan Style was edible. The Chop Suey was awful. I ate the egg rolls and threw away the rest. read more

While passing through the Village of Hoosick Falls, I was getting hungry and I spotted Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, which is a small "hole in the wall" takeout place located in the heart of the quiet downtown area. I decided to pull over for lunch, parking on the street. The menu offers around 160 items including the typical Chinese dishes and Szechuan and Cantonese specialties. Also, 30 Lunch Specials served with pork fried rice ($4.35-$4.55) and 20 All Day Combination Plates served with pork fried rice & egg roll ($6.00-$7.15) are offered here. The place is order at the counter with an open kitchen and a few tables. I decided to go with the L9 Roast Pork Lo Mein ($4.35 plus tax) served with pork fried rice. I watched my food being quickly prepared in a big flaming wok, food ready in about 5 minutes. The Roast Pork Lo Mein was pretty good tasting, a bit on the oily side, which had a good mixture of tender roast pork strips, vegetables, sprouts, crunchy water chestnuts and firm noodles, two thumbs up!! However, the pork fried rice (not greasy) was okay which was mostly yellow rice with some chopped onions and small pork cubes. The good sized portion of food was filling and satisfying for lunch. Trash in a take out container. I'm not even picky about American Chinese food, but their fries had not a veggie in it and no flavor and the sesame chicken you'd be much happier with frozen PF Chang's if that puts it into perspective. read more

Yum! This is the place to go if you are craving Chinese. Not too pricey and so far everything I've tried has been good. I'm in love with the Mu Shoo pork, sweet and sour pork combo, egg rolls, and dumplings. Not a big fan of their crab rangoon, but I would still eat it. Cash only. read more

Not the healthiest option but then again it wouldn't taste so good if it was a beacon of health. (Not that there is any Chinese takeout that is) I once had a coworker who grew up in LA where places like this are not only on every corner, but a bad Chinese takeout won't last a month either. She had the Great Wall and said it was the best she ever had. That's the gauge by which I measure and describe the food here to anyone who is curious. If you want to eat out in Hoosick, there are not many options but fortunately most of them are good and especially this one. Their pork fried rice can't be beat either. Plus I think I may need some rehab because of their chicken wings. They also have french fries, which are magical - they taste like a hodgepodge of the best Chinese food. Oh, no! Don't mess with our only Chinese option! It is with heavy heart (and an uncomfortably heavier feeling stomach) I must agree with what some of our friends warned us: something's going on at the Great Wall. I was there when it opened (yes, I AM that old) and and on and off through the years, I always enjoyed it for what it did well: fast, tasty, easy, thrifty Chinese take-out. In the last couple of weeks we heard whispers of a change and critical words for the sudden state of the hereto now reliable yumminess. Skeptical, I gave it two tries in 2 weeks. I'm in no hurry to give them a third visit. Still came fast, still came hot, but the quality is not as it always was. My first bite, on both occasions into the requisite egg roll, provided me with more grease than I bargained for. A thin, drippy, grease. Ditto for the strangely small bits of so-so quality battered chicken in my sweet and sour chicken dish. All fried surfaces seem wet and tasteless. Non-committal "eh"'s from two more adults at our table told me their choices weren't all that great, either. The crab rangoons, while only a little too greasy, seemed to be consistent with those always used, but they, like almost everything fried our big family ordered, to one degree or another, just didn't taste RIGHT. OK. Not everything disappointed. The recipient of the beef with broccoli said it was "fine" and the three wiggly creatures of significantly shorter stature at the table, who preferred eating with their fingers during the meal, had no complaints. I saw the outside and insides both of the pork dumplings they carefully dissected before shoveling them into their little mouths, and they looked consistent with the usual quality. I hope, after I finally return to the Great Wall again, I can write of a more positive experience. After all, it has always met a need for convenience in not just Hoosick Falls but in all the little towns around it. read more

I'm still a fan, but I forgot to mention that for the past couple years, both my father and I have independently reported a bleachy flavor to many of the chicken dishes. For instance the Kung Po or Hunan Chicken, which come with unbreaded chicken: the chicken comes in small pieces and is very soft (beyond tender), but it has a strong flavor that makes me think of bleach or maybe metal. Even the breaded chicken dishes like General Tsao or sesame, though not quite as noticeable, have it; can't say that sweet and sour chicken does, though. But the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it (or with fried wantons)--same bleachy or metallic flavor, and that I've noticed for several years, so I just avoid that sauce. The chicken wings and terriyaki chicken on skewers don't have the bleach-flavor problem, so I'm not sure where the issue arises, but if you have a sensitive palate, which apparently I do (bleach scent & anything reminiscent gags me!), you might notice this. Otherwise the food is good, I swear! read more

Can't be beat for flavor and speed of service. There are specials posted in the store, like fries and a few other "Americanized" dishes. The General Tso's and Sesame Chicken items have a sauce that's more vinegary than some, not as sweet. read more

After the experience here, I will definitely no be recommending it to anyone. The rude staff is the main reason. I wound up ordering an item that turned out to contain a food i have a severe allergy to. when i asked the girl behind the counter, she snapped "Well, we don't list every ingredient! You're supposed to ask! It's your problem, not ours!" and refused a refund. read more
